Chapter 63: Box And Flowers

As the morning light filtered through my curtains, I stirred awake, feeling surprisingly refreshed. I got out of my bedroom and went to the kitchen to make myself a coffee. I still have time before I go to work.

With a mug in my hand, I stepped outside, wanting to feel the morning dew. It was the best part of the day. But to my surprise, my foot collided with something solid.

“Seriously ?” I grumbled.

A black box lay on my doorstep. I looked around, not sensing anyone around my premises. I leaned down, hesitating for a moment before picking it up.

But my face quickly contorted in grimace and I swiftly moved away as the air around the box carried a putrid stench, hitting my nose.

I quickly went inside and put down my mug on the table before going back to my doorstep. Even though I have a clear picture of what’s inside, I need to make sure. I cautiously opened the lid. The pungent odor intensified, assaulting my senses.
