Zane's POV

“Arella!”

I slammed the door open, my eyes frantically searching the room for the people I loved. Arella was sitting cross-legged on the floor of the playroom, her soft laughter filling the air as Cain and Eva were making a zoo out of the wood animal she’d carved out for them. The sight froze me in place. My heart thudded hard in my chest, and a surge of emotions crashed over me like a tidal wave.

Relief.

Joy.

Fear.

They were safe!

The weight of everything I’d been holding back came crashing down on me, making my knees weak. The guilt, the shame, the terror threatened to consume me. My throat tightened, and my wolf, sensing my turmoil, prowled restlessly in my mind…

Arella looked up, her expression shifting immediately when she saw my face. The pups didn’t notice, as they rushed towards me, hugging my legs. My breath caught as I held them in my arms, reas

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 124

Arella's POVPulling myself out of memory lane, I scanned the desk, wondering what he’d been working on. My eyes landed on a sheet of paper that had “Selena King” written on top of it. I picked it up, reading the bolded header at the top.“What’s this?” I questioned, lightly skimming it. But the language was so over-complicated and repetitive that it looked like hieroglyphs after a while. Definitely some fancy layer speak...He glanced over, grinning when he saw what I was holding.“Selena’s proposal,” he said proudly. “She’s going to present it next week at the Grand Alpha Gathering to make it possible for a female to inherit a title from her father.”Yeah, I knew about it. But---“What’s your take on it?” I asked, turning to face him. Now, Zane never struck me as a sexist asshole or a man-chauvinistic dick, but I was curious. I knew h

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 123

Arella’s POVI walked down the busy hallways, heading to Zane's office. For some reason, the Omegas and guards seemed busier than usual, preparing for what Zane had explained to me as the “Grand Alpha Gathering”. It was apparently an annual thing where all the alphas gathered before the king, proposing new laws or changes to the old ones. For three days straight! The door to Zane’s office stood slightly ajar, but I still did the polite thing and knocked, despite Zane telling me multiple times to just come in.“Come in, angel,” Zane's rough voice came through, and involuntarily a small smile tugged at my lips. I didn’t love the nick name, but fuck me – the damn thing was growing on me. I pushed the door open and easily found Zane. He was hunched over his desk, a furrow in his brow as he scribbled something on a notepad. Stunned, I took a look around and realized that papers

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 122

Zane's POV“The Omega that went missing… We found her. Or what was left of her.” My voice caught, as the images of her bloody, beaten corpse flashed through my mind. “They brutalized her, Arella. They barely left enough behind for us to identify her.”A small gasp left her lips, her hands flying to her mouth.“Oh, Zane,” she spoke softly. “I’m so sorry.”She stepped closer--- and just when I thought she would wrap her arms around me, she pulled back. My wolf whined, wanting her to touch us – to hold and comfort us. But I quickly realized that while Arella wasn’t insecure about my past mate, she was respectful enough to give me space if I needed it. She even held out her hand, her healing magic ready to take away any pain this might have brought back up. What she didn’t realize was---She was enough!Surprising her, I gently pushed her han

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 120

Zane’s POVI was going to lose my shit!I stumbled into the cabin, as I felt the suffocating press of my rage and fear rise to an unbearable level. My wolf clawed at me, growling and snarling with accusations almost unbearable to hear.We let her down. She’s not safe. We’ll lose her, just like before...I shoved the door shut behind me, leaning against it for a moment as the edges of my vision blurred. My heart slammed against my ribs like a sledgehammer, my pulse rushing in my ears. My breathing hitched, shallow, and erratic, and I clenched my fists until my knuckles turned white. The moment the door closed again, I lost it.The fear and rage that had built up inside me gripped me like iron claws. The walls seemed to close in around me, suffocating and relentless. The air felt thick, and suddenly I had trouble breathing, unable to suck in more than

  • The Alpha King's Saving Angel   Chapter 119

Zane's POV“Now you try,” I encouraged, knowing it could be daunting for new werewolves. Her bows drew together, but after only a few seconds, I felt her link touch mine.Testing, testing, her tentative voice brushed against my mind, making my wolf purr with glee. Can you hear me?Loud and clear, Angel, I smirked--- and then pulled her into me, kissing her deeply and letting the connection between us calm the storm still coursing through my veins. My whole body still buzzed with adrenaline from the night before. The fear and rage I’d felt just thinking about her being hurt.Or worse! My wolf let out a feral howl, pushing against my skin until it physically hurt. He wanted to shift and hunt down anyone who would want to hurt her--- but for now, he found solace in the fact that she was here.Safe!“I’ll be back as soon as I can,” I promised
