My head and body ached so badly. What happened to me? I wondered as I slowly opened my eyes. White walls surrounded me, and the smell of antiseptic filled my nose. I was in the hospital.

My mother, who was beside my bedside, became alert when she saw me.

“Oh, thank goodness!” she beamed. “How do you feel now?”

“What happe—” Before I could complete my statement, memories of what happened flooded my mind. I went into severe heat and fainted.

But why would I faint from heat?

Moments later, the door opened and the doctor walked in; my dad followed.

“How are you?” my father asked immediately, pretending as if he cared when he didn’t give a damn about me.

“I don’t know,” I responded honestly.

The doctor checked my vitals on the machine connected to me before looking at me.

“Can you still feel the heat?” he asked me.

“No,” I responded.

He nodded. “That’s because we have given you something that helped with it.”

“Is she okay now?” Father quickly asked him.

“For now,” the doctor said.
