STARLETTE

Terror infiltrated my body, seeping into every inch of my bone as I leaped out of bed and rushed to the pile of dirty laundry. My hands scrambled through the clothes until I found the jeans I had worn when I visited the witches' land. Desperately, I dug my hand into the pocket and pulled out the piece of paper Amelia had given me.

Maximus stood beside me, worries etched on his face. “What happened? Talk to me, Star. You’re scaring me.”

“I need a phone.” I breathed. “I need to call Amelia.”

He raised a brow, a lot of questions dancing in his eyes. But for some reason, he chose not to air those questions. Instead, he nodded and said. “I have a phone in my office. I’ll get it for you right away.”

He left the room and returned shortly after with a phone in his hand and a sceptical look on his face. As I reached for the phone, he pulled it back, just out of reach.

“Not until you tell me what's going on, I'm not giving it to you.” He said.

“I had a dream...“ The nightmare replayed

AXELIt was hard to believe that Violet was willing to follow me to the North after what had happened the last time she was there. I understood how difficult everything was for her, and I didn’t plan to force her into anything.“Violet. You don’t have to. There’s no rush. We could just take everything slo—”“I need to see Daisy before she leaves,” she interjected, and my mouth formed an ‘O.’“Did you think I wanted to follow you just because I could be with you?” she lifted her brow, a mocking smile on her lips. I scratched the back of my neck. “Maybe. My bad.”She climbed off the bed and wrapped her arms around my neck, her eyes fixed on me. “And perhaps, if you would let me, I could spend some time with you before I return here.”“Are you sure?” I asked skeptically, and she nodded.“Yes.”The happiness that ripped through my chest was immeasurable, and a wide grin spread across my face. I had missed her so much, and I wouldn’t mind having her by my side. The ride back to the North

VIOLETI woke up to a sweet smell of cedarwood and sandalwood swifting through my senses, and I snapped my eyes open. Lying beside me was my mate, the one who I had always loved before everything went downhill, laying beside me. He was asleep, with his arm around me.After everything that happened that night, I had been lost in a deep sorrow, grieving both my father’s death and the loss of my mate. I had said some nasty things I didn’t mean that night.I didn’t hate him. I could never. After I woke up from the deep sleep Lila had sent me to, the memories of what had happened came crashing through me, along with regrets. I shouldn’t have said everything I said. I was just deeply hurt, and I had let my emotions control me. Though I had asked Axel to stop his father, and he refused, I knew that fight was inevitable. I knew that it was either my father died or his did. And his father won.So, yes. I knew it wasn’t Axel’s fault. I didn’t hate him. I just didn’t know how to face him after

DAISYToday’s birthday party doubled as a celebration for defeating the Olga months ago. I never wanted this, but the Alpha King, Luna Queen, my parents, and the entire kingdom insisted on celebrating me. So, here I was in this pink ball gown, walking down the hall while the people parted ways for me to pass.Whispers could be heard across the hall while everybody looked at me with awe. Gosh, why were they making this seem like a big deal? All I did was destroy the Olga.My father joined me halfway, hooking his arm around mine while we walked towards the Alpha King and his Luna Queen together. “Everyone, I present to you, Daisy Northwood. The first hybrid. The hero of the continent,” the Alpha King announced and gestured at me with a smile on his face.Claps echoed through the hall and my cheeks reddened with a blush. When we came to a stop in front of the Alpha King and Luna Queen, Luna Starlette wrapped her arms around me in a warm embrace.“Happy birthday, little one,” she mutter

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   153| Thoughts.

AXELMonths passed, and Violet was still refusing to talk to me. It broke my heart to see her that way that night. To see how much she was hurting, to the extent of her almost rejecting me. Lila had to knock her unconscious to stop her from completing the statement. Though I would’ve never accepted the rejection, even if it tore me apart.I knew how much her father’s death was going to hurt her, and I was ready to stand with her through it. But I couldn’t stop my father from finishing Silas off. It was something that had to be done. The fight that led to his death was mutually agreed upon between the two Alpha Kings.Even if I had stopped him, it would’ve still happened some other time. It was either Silas died or my father did. And it was obvious who I wanted alive.Anyway, I had been trying desperately to reach Violet and get her to talk to me, but she wasn’t giving me the audience. I sent her multiple text messages, telling her how sorry I was and how much I loved her. I even went

VIOLET“No!” I screamed as I watched the sword pierce through my father’s skin. Tears rolled down my eyes as I dropped to the floor. He darted his gaze at me, his mouth opening to say something, but he was fast losing consciousness. Despite the pain ripping through me, I collected myself and ran to him, holding his head on my laps.Pain and fear tore through my entire being. I didn’t want to lose him. He might not be the best father, but he was still my father. The wound was severe, and he could only survive it by a miracle.“Please help. I beg you!” I flicked my gaze at Lila. “I beg you, please. Use your magic.”“My dear Violet,” my father called, coughing out blood.“Hang on. Save your strength. We will find help,” I quickly told him.“No.” He held my hand. “I cannot be saved.”I shook my head vehemently in denial, hot tears streaming down my face. “You are not going to die.”“Violet,” he called with a strangled voice, “I know you may think I don’t love you. But I do. I have since

MAXIMUSThe funny-looking being burnt to ashes. Amelia rushed to her daughter and held her in her arms, her face twisted with worry.“She’s alive,” she breathed.A sigh of relief escaped me before returning my attention to the ashes of the Olga.“What does that mean?” I asked Kieran. “Has it escaped?”“No,” he shook his head, staring at the remains in awe. “Our ancestors. The most powerful witches. Had tried to destroy the Olga, but weren’t successful. And because of that, they resorted to trapping it for generations. I had always known that my granddaughter was special, but I never knew that she was this incredible. She is the definition of power. She is a force to reckon with. The most powerful witch. The first Hybrid.”I snapped my gaze at Amelia. “Would she be fine?”“I’ll take her inside now. She has used much more power than she had ever used in one breath. She’s just exhausted. She’ll wake up soon,” she told us.“Go ahead and take her inside,” I nodded at her. Then I flicked my
