Chapter 10: Take Care Of You
~Alana~
Alana was chasing her breath. Her throat appeared so dry, she repeatedly gulped down her own spew. Walking through the hallway and on the stairs, she soothed the drumming inside her chest.
To say that she was nervous was an understatement. At that point, she was this close to having a heart attack.
“Mom, hurry up! Dad’s waiting for you.” Two steps ahead of her, Kai casually said with a smile, and that further made her heart restless.
“Kai, please stay behind me. I want to make sure you did not randomly let a stranger inside our house and claim him to be your father,” Alana scolded, her voice barely audible, hoping to keep the exchange between her and Kai.
Her son dismissed her worries. He chuckled at her mother’s assumptions and said, “I’m pretty sure he is my dad, mom. Besides, he said so himself.”
