Chapter 74: History Of Friends

“Alric, I’ve always wondered, how do you get your people to be so loyal to you? Granted, there are a few that lost their way, but I am amazed at how Max is able to keep it together, despite his feelings for Geneva and then there is Dean,” Lana asked as they were ready to go to bed. 

“Hmmm.” Alric climbed up the bed, exhausted after a long day. He yawned as he lay on the sheets. He lazily replied, “Max’s father abused him when we were kids, but he loved his father. He did not want my father to know. He did not want his father to be punished.”

“He was a drunk. Once a week, he would come home, completely wasted, and that’s when he would end up beating Max. We were just twelve back then. We were only kids.”

“I wanted to tell my father, but Max pleaded that I don’t. I figured, compared to him, I already had my wolf. I could heal faster. One night, I tricked Max into spending the night here, at home. I took his place, merely wearing his hoody, a
