Chapter Forty-Four: Binding Ties

The sun dipped low, painting the compound in hues of gold and fire as warriors finished drills, laughter and exhaustion in their voices as they packed away weapons. Smoke curled from the kitchens where Nico and Maya helped prepare the evening meal, the scent of roasted meat and herbs drifting on the cold breeze.

Near the bonfire pit, Raven stood with Ragnar and Luca as Thorne approached, his wolves forming a loose circle around him, shoulders tense, uncertainty in their eyes despite the strength in their posture.

Raven let her gaze sweep over them, these wolves who had survived on the edges, who had chosen to stand with them when they could have run. She saw the way they watched her warriors, the way they guarded Maya when she ran past with a bowl, the way they nodded to Loki and Luca in quiet respect.

Chapter Fifty: Tracks in the Snow The cold snow bit against Raven’s cheeks as she moved through the pines, the hush of snow beneath her boots the only sound as dawn light filtered through the snow-laced branches. The air was sharp, carrying the scent of pine, earth, and distant smoke from the compound’s fires. Luca walked beside her, eyes scanning the treeline, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade. Behind them, Thorne and Kael followed, the new warriors moving silently along the ridges, learning the land, learning Shadowstorm’s ways. They had come to check the traps along the southern border, reinforcing lines and ensuring no gaps remained. It had become routine, the pack working seamlessly, preparing for whatever The Wraith might send. But today, the snow told a different story. “Here,” Kael called softly, crouching near a narrow game trail. His gloved hand brushed across a fresh track, the outline of a large paw pressed deep into the snow, the claws digging in as if the

Worth fighting for.” The wolves shifted, heads lifting, the air charged as they watched her. “Kael has brought us news,” Raven continued, letting her eyes meet his where he leaned against the wall, bandages hidden beneath his clo

Ruthless. He’s b

Inside Raven’s chambers, the hush was comforting, the crackle of the fireplace filling the space with gentle warmth. Raven stood by the window, her eyes tracing the frost patterns forming on the glass, the moonlight painting silver across her dark hair. Shadow was quiet within her, calm, content, a soft purr of peace that she rarely allowed herself to feel. Behind her, Ragnar watched, leaning against the doorframe, his eyes soft as they followed every movement she made. “You’re thinking too loud again,” he said quietly.
