Lisa's POV

Mr Graham was sitting back on the couch at the center of the office, his trousers pulled down and his cock was in his hand stroking it leisurely with a devilish smirk playing on his face.

Fuck!

I couldn't look at the scene twice. I gritted my teeth snapping my head to the side as I averted my gaze from the disgusting sight. He knew I was going to come in, yet he still chose to be such a miscreant.

“I'm… sorry,” I stammered, apologising even though it wasn't exactly my fault. “I would just leave.“ I turned away, wanting to take a step.

“Wait!“ He screamed, his voice stopping me in my tracks.

“What now?“ I whispered, standing there like a statue as much as I wanted to leave. My nerves were on edge, the room suddenly becoming small.

I didn't know when he reached me, the next thing I felt was his hand on my ass, slapping my butt cheeks. My jaw tightened as anger rose inside me. I turned towards him and he was already wearing his trousers, his smirk deepening.

“Are you crazy?“ I snapped at him, resisting the urge to slap him.

He didn't flinch.

“You can drop the pretense, Lisa,” he cooed, his voice disgustingly sweet. “I knew you came here to curry favour from me, so you won't be part of those that would be laid down.“

What the hell was he saying?

“Excuse me. I'm not here to curry any favor from you and you won't be firing me,” I simply say.

He scoffed. “What now? You seem so sure I won't be firing you. Are you pregnant or something.“

I didn't answer him. I can't tell him I'm pregnant now, especially that I have no evidence to prove it yet. But by next month before the restructuring starts, I would gotten a scan done.

“Well….. you won't.“

He nodded mockingly.

I was starting to get irritated of spending additional seconds in his presence. “If you would excuse me. I would like to leave now.“

Before I could turn, he grabbed my waist, pulling me closer to him. My breasts was pressing against his chest.

“Leave me alone.“ I tried to jerk his hand away from me but I couldn't. His grip was so tight.

“Still pretending, huh?“ He said, forcing his lips to be pressed against mine.

I almost jumped out of my wit as irritation simmered inside me. I slapped his face, and chest but he never let me go.

“i know you're no longer married now. How about you get down on your knees and suck me like a good girl that you are.“ His voice was hoarse with lust as he pressed his lips to my neck. “You will like it too.“ He gripped the edges of my skirt with his free hand, trying to pull it up.

“Stop,” I screamed when the realization hits me that he was going to force himself on me. And my baby… I hope he doesn't hurt them..

He was touching my exposed thighs, planting disgusting kisses all over my face.

“Please… stop,” I pleaded desperately. “Someone help.“

I knew screaming was useless. No one would hear me. The goddamn office was soundproof.

Hot tears was streaming down my face, my heart beating like a war drum. I couldn't say a word but I kept pleading desperately inside me for anyone, anybody to come help me.

Then the door slammed open violently that I thought it was going to come down.

“You bastard,” a voice snarled behind me—just before a fist slammed into his jaw. The force of the punch launched him across the room. He crashed hard against the wall, then crumpled to the floor in a heap.

My breath seized, my mouth fell open in an O shape. What the hell just happened? What kind of primal force was that?

He turned towards me and it was no other person than Ronan Stormrider. His eyes had darkened with unrestrained fury. His jaw tightened. His fingers longer than usual.

How…? How did he know to come here?

“Are you okay?“ He asked, softly.

I nodded, my body trembling with fear at the sight of him.

Graham tried to stand but he couldn't, blood spluttering from his mouth.

Ronan closed the distance between them in a blink, crouched low beside him. His hands fisted in into his shirt and he lauch a blow on his face. Two. Three. Four. He continued hitting Graham like it was the only thing that could keep him alive. Keep him sane.

Every hit on Graham, blood spluttered from his mouth. Within minutes, blood pooled beneath him, staining the office sterile floor.

I couldn't move. I couldn't say a word even though it seems like he was going to really kill him. I just stood there, eyes wide and arms wrapped around myself.

“Are you okay?“ Anna asked, throwing a jacket over me.

I nodded, still shaken to the core.

“That bastard,” she cursed through gritted teeth. Then she leaned in, whispering. “How did you know the powerful Alpha Ronan Stormrider?“

I opened my mouth but no words came out. I couldn't tell her that I'm carrying his child and that by this time tomorrow, I'd be his wife.

She continued. “You should tell him to stop…. Mr. Graham might really die.“ Her voice trembled slightly with fear. Her fear filled eyes fixated on the brutal scene.

I took a step forward. “Please… stop,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. He raised his hand to hit the almost lifeless Graham again. “Please stop.“ My voice grew sharper.

He hesitated but left him anyway. Then he stood up and started walking toward me, covered in blood that wasn't his. He looks animalistic-his claws, and his fangs elongated making him look primal. Dangerous.

In that moment, flashes from that night returned. I swear he really looked like them. He looked like one of those that killed my parents. My hands flew to my head, trying to shake off the memories that he was different. That he had just saved me even though he almost killed someone.

But I couldn't. Just the memories of that night. How my mother begged and ran for her life but they hunted her and ripped her neck away from her body. Just the sight that Ronan was going to kill me too.

As he stepped closer, I took a step back. His hands reached out but I quickly turned away and ran out of the office, pushing my coworkers who were gathered off my path.

“Lisa…” Anna's voice trailed behind me.

But I didn't wait. I couldn't. My legs were weak and trembling but surprisingly they were working fine and fast. It carried me straight to my office. I grabbed my bag and made my way out of the company building, then into the taxi. I choked on a sob as I called out the hotel address to the driver.

In no time, he dropped me in front of the hotel and I ran into it like I was being chased by some unseen forces.

By the time I reached my room, my breathing has turned ragged, each breath was a struggle.

I knew I couldn't get into that damn contract marriage. I'd be traumatised with living with him. Infact, I couldn't spend any more seconds with him. I needed to get away. It can be anywhere but definitely not here, within his reach.

With trembling fingers, I zipped open my box and started throwing my clothes into it, tears blurring my vision. When I was done, I wheeled the box behind me, and handed over the keys to the receptionist who looked shocked that I was leaving probably because I had just paid for some days upfront this morning.

“We can't do a refund—”

“You don't have to,” I cut her off sharply.

And just like that, I turned away and disappeared.

Lisa’s POVWe marched into the villa like some weird little parade—Ronan in front, all broody shoulders and silent menace, Damon gliding in with his eternal “I’m too calm for this” vibe, Heri at my side clutching my hand like it was a tether, and me… stomping. Because stomping was the only way I wasn’t going to start screaming again. The air inside was warm, too warm. The kind of heat that stuck to your skin and made your heart hammer worse. Damon leaned on the wall, arms crossed, eyes sharp. Heri perched at the edge of an armchair, small, waiting.Me? Freaking. Hunter. You are LATE.”I blinked, thrown off by the sheer fire of it. “I—”“Nope! Uh-uh! Don’t even start!” she snapped, wagging her finger like I was some delinquent schoolboy. “Do you KNOW what it’s like waiting here? Sitting? Pacing? Pacing so much I almost dug a trench in the floor?! Heri saw it, tell him, Heri—”Heri raised her book a little,

Ronan’s POVThe air in the elder’s sitting room was heavy. Too heavy. It clung to my lungs like damp cloth, choking without pressure. The elder sat hunched, his hand still trembling slightly against his knee. His wife hovered near the door, fussing with a tray she didn’t really want to carry. Damon was watching—eyes sharp, like he was waiting for the elder to slip and reveal something else.My jaw locked. I couldn’t shake it. That voice. Heri’s voice. The echo of it still pulsed in my skull, haunting, taunting. And that damn house.“Alpha Ronan,” the elder rasped, his voice cracked but steadying. “What I’ve said… that is all you can take from me.”“Take?” I echoed, my tone sharper than I intended. “Or all you’re willing to give?”His eyes flicked up. For a second—just a second—there was defiance there. A flash of something old and unbending. Then it faded. He exhaled, long and ragged. “Sometimes… the burden of knowing is heavier than ignorance.”My hands curled into fists. “Then let m

Ronan’s POVThe elder stood at the doorway, framed by the dim afternoon light. His steps were measured, but his presence carried the weight of someone used to respect. His hair had silvered, skin weathered by time, but his eyes… sharp. Searching.“Alpha Ronan,” he greeted, voice low, resonant. “I apologize for the delay.”I inclined my head. “Your wife received us graciously.”He glanced toward the table, the untouched tea, the cooling biscuits, then back to me. His gaze lingered, reading me the way old wolves do. “I imagine you didn’t come only to drink tea.”“No.” I gestured to the seat opposite. “There are matters I need your insight on. Private matters.”He lowered himself slowly, hands resting on his knees, posture still proud. “Then speak.”The room quieted. Even the tick of the clock seemed to hold back.I drew a breath. “It’s about a mark. A strange one. I’ve only seen it once—on a child.”The elder’s eyes flickered. Just for a heartbeat, but I caught it. “A mark,” he repeated

Lisa’s POVThe dishes were still clinking faintly in the sink when Ronan stood up, chair legs scraping the floor in that decisive alpha way he always did things. His expression was sharp, already distant, like his head was two steps ahead of us, plotting the next move.“Damon,” he said, voice calm but commanding, “let’s go.”Go? Go where? My brain scrambled. And then it hit me—oh no no no no no—“Wait, wait, hold on.” I pushed up so fast my chair nearly tipped. “Go? As in—leave leave? Right now?? Without—without me??”Ronan barely even looked at me. Just grabbed his coat off the back of the chair like I hadn’t just squeaked myself into near-collapse. “Yes.”My mouth dropped open. “Wh—WHAT?! Excuse me?! You—you can’t just—”He finally glanced at me, one brow arching in that annoying I’ve already made my decision way. “Lisa. Stay here. Rest.”Rest?! Ohhh nooo. Nope nope nope. “Urmm—ahhh—rest?? Lisa’s POVThe water dripped down my arms as I shut the faucet, steam curling all around us like a soft little fog. Heri was towel-wrapped, tiny and blinking at me with that sleepy face she always made after a hot bath. My own hair was plastered wet against my cheeks, sticking to my neck. I wrung out the ends, shivering a little but not because of the cold.Because of that mark.It was still burning in my mind. But she didn’t even… care. Like, hello? Big suspicious alpha mark stamped on your back and she’s just—meh, shrug, “oh yeah, family said it’s normal.” Normal?! Whaaaat?!“Urmm…” I mumbled under my breath, clutching my towel tighter. “Not normal at all, Lisa, nope nope nope. Totally weird. Totally important. Totally something I gotta—ahhh…”“Lisa?” Heri tilted her head at me, her damp hair dripping onto the towel. “Why are you making faces?”“Wh—faces? Me?
