CIARA’S POV

The gun wouldn't leave my head.

I sat in my dorm room, staring at the wall, but all I could see was that black metal barrel pointed at Sarah's temple. The way Alexis had held it like it was nothing. Like threatening someone's life was just another Tuesday for him.

My hands were still shaking. They hadn't stopped since I'd stormed out of that classroom, and every time I tried to steady them, the image flashed again. The gun. The click of the safety. The way my heart had stopped beating for those few seconds when I thought he might actually pull the trigger.

But it wasn't just Sarah's face I kept seeing. It was Darragh's.

The vision hit me like a punch to the gut, same as it always did. Rain pouring down. Darragh's body crumpling to the ground. Blood spreading across his chest from a bullet wound, right through his heart. His eyes going empty while I screamed his name.

And now there was a gun. Right here in the school. In the hands of someone who'd already proven he had no p

CIARA’S POVThe silence stretched between us like a taut wire ready to snap. Sarah stood with her arms crossed, her eyes fixed on some point just over my shoulder. The candlelight flickered across her face, highlighting the dark circles under her eyes, the way her jaw tensed and released in a rhythm that spoke of barely contained nerves.Behind us, I could hear the soft clink of glass on glass. One of the girls pouring wine, settling in to watch the show. The thought made my skin crawl, but there was no getting around it. We were trapped here until something gave way."What did I do, Sarah?" I asked quietly. "What started all this?"She let out a bitter laugh. "You didn't do anything. That's the problem." She uncrossed her arms, then crossed them again. "Just forget it."The deflection was so predictable I almost smiled. Sarah had always done this, even in the past. Build up walls the second a conversation got uncomfortable, then act like the other person was being dramatic for trying

CIARA’S POVThe walk to the Circle of Nightshade felt longer than it should have. My conversation with Eamon kept replaying in my head, the weight of what I'd asked him to do sitting heavy in my chest. I trusted him to handle the gun situation, but the knot in my stomach wouldn't loosen. Too many variables. Too many things that could go wrong.I shook my head, forcing myself to focus on the immediate problem. The sorority. Whatever hazing ritual they had planned for me. I'd survived worse things than a few entitled girls playing power games. The old stone building that housed the Circle of Nightshade sat at the edge of campus, ivy crawling up its walls like gnarled fingers. It looked exactly like the kind of place where secret societies would conduct their business. Gothic arches, stained glass windows that caught the dying light, and an aura of self-importance that you could practically taste in the air.I was ten minutes late. Not intentionally, but I wasn't particularly sorry about

SPECIAL CHAPTER: SARAH’S POVI found a quiet spot near the old oak tree behind the dormitory building, far enough from the main paths that no one would stumble across me. My hands shook as I pulled out my phone. I'd been putting this off for hours, but I couldn't wait any longer. Mom had been texting me nonstop since yesterday, asking about updates from the academy. She always wanted to know everything. Every conversation, every opportunity, every chance I might have to climb higher than where we started. The phone rang twice before she picked up."Sarah, darling. Finally. I was starting to worry you'd forgotten about your poor mother." Her voice was warm honey, the way it always got when she wanted something. "Tell me everything. How are things at Lunaris? Any news?"I took a breath, trying to steady myself. "Actually, yes. I have news. Really good news.""Oh?" I could practically hear her straightening up, the way she did when she sensed an opportunity. "What kind of news?""I found

EWAN’S POVThe main hall of the Brotherhood of Fir stretched before us like a tomb. Stone walls absorbed sound, swallowing the shuffling footsteps and nervous whispers as Alexis dismissed the other pledges with a casual wave. Their relief was evident. They were to look for coins. But not for us.Ronan's breathing had that measured quality it got when he was calculating odds. Arms crossed, shoulders set, he could have been carved from the same granite as the walls. Only the muscle ticking in his jaw betrayed him.Alexis savored our isolation. His footsteps echoed as he paced, each click of his boot heels deliberate. The lazy curve of his mouth promised pain, not the quick, clean kind, but something that would linger."Twins," he mused, rolling the word around like wine. "This is such a unique opportunity."My spine went rigid. Beside me, Ronan's stillness turned predatory."Your hazing should reflect your... bond." Alexis stopped pacing, fixing us with eyes that glittered with malice.

SPECIAL CHAPTER: EAMONThe Brotherhood of Fir house loomed ahead of me, all dark stone and Gothic windows that seemed to watch everything. My stomach was tied in knots, but not for the usual reasons. Most guys worried about hazing or making a fool of themselves during initiation. I was worried about finding a gun loaded with wolfsbane bullets before it could put a hole through Darragh's heart.Ciara's words kept playing in my head. One of the O'Donoghue brothers pulls the trigger. The image she'd painted was burned into my mind now, and I couldn't shake it. Darragh falling, blood spreading across his chest, his eyes going blank. The thought made me sick.I pushed through the heavy wooden doors and into the main hall. The place smelled like old money and older secrets. Dark wood panels covered the walls, and portraits of former elitist Brotherhood members stared down at us with disapproving expressions. About fifteen other guys milled around, all looking nervous in different ways. Some

EWAN’S POVI waited in the hallway, leaning against the wall with my arms crossed. The stone was cold through my shirt, but I barely noticed. My eyes were fixed on Eamon and Ciara down the corridor. They stood close together, heads bent in conversation, and something about their body language made my stomach twist.Ciara's posture was rigid, urgent. Her hands moved sharply when she spoke, like she was trying to convince him of something. Eamon listened with the kind of attention he usually reserved for pack business or serious problems. The kind of attention that meant whatever she was saying mattered.I couldn't hear their words, but I could see the effect they had on him. His face went pale, then serious, then something that looked almost like fear. Whatever Ciara was telling him, it wasn't good news.My throat felt tight. I'd seen that look before on people's faces when they talked about me. The careful way teachers spoke to my mother about my "behavioral issues" in primary school.
