Dante

I stood in the cold basement cell of the pack house, staring down at Gwen.

She was chained to an iron chair in the middle of the dark room, her wrists locked in silver shackles.

Her hair was a mess, and her face was pale as a ghost as she looked up at me with terrified eyes.

"Dante, please!" Gwen sobbed out, her voice echoing off the concrete walls. "Why am I chained up down here? You have to let me go!"

I didn't say anything for a long minute, just slowly pulling off my dark leather jac

VioletI stood in the cold hospital hallway, my hands shaking uncontrollably as I looked down at the dark blood staining my jacket. It was Dante's blood. He was inside the emergency operating room, barely clinging to life while doctors rushed around him with defibrillators and needles.Outside in the main corridor, a temporary truce had been called between the Blood-Moon pack and the Silver-Moon clan.Nobody was drawing weapons right now because everyone was too stunned by what had just happened in the courtyard. My grandfather Silas and my grandmother Elena walked down the hallway, escorted by four of our highest clan guards.Simon was standing near me, holding a warm wet towel against his bleeding neck where the silver chains had cut into his skin."You lied to us," I said flatly, turning my head to glare straight at Silas as he stopped in front of me.Silas frowned, resting both of his hands on top of his walking cane. "What are you talking about, Violet?""Dante's father didn't at

DanteI forced my weak, trembling legs to push me up off the muddy ground. My whole body was shaking from the brutal curse, but I couldn't back down now."I won't hurt you, Violet," I choked out, drawing my silver knife from my belt."Shut up and fight!" Violet screamed, lunging straight at me with lethal speed. She swung her right dagger fast, aiming straight for my neck without hesitation.I leaned back just in time, feeling the silver blade graze the skin of my chin. Her new dual-dagger training was insane, moving faster than any human girl ever could. She spun on her heel, bringing her left blade around in a horizontal slash aimed at my chest.I brought my knife up defensively, blocking her strike with a loud lic clang.CLANG!"Is this all you have?!" Violet yelled, her blue eyes flashing with rage as she pressed forward. "You replaced me with Gwen without even blinking!""I never married Gwen!" I shouted back, taking two steps back to avoid her next low kick. "She's dead, Violet!

DanteIt was late into the dark night when the loud siren started screeching through the house.BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!The loud warning alarms blared across the whole territory, shaking the windows in my private office."Alpha!" Bret shouted, throwing my door open without even knocking first. "We're under attack!"I coughed hard, wiping a trace of dark blood from my bottom lip onto my shirt sleeve."Who is it?" I asked, my voice sounding wrecked, dry, and raspy."It's the Silver-Moon clan!" Bret yelled, clutching his tactical rifle tight against his chest. "They breached the southern perimeter gates! They brought weapons and dozens of warriors!"My heart did a massive flip inside my ribcage, sending a wave of electric heat straight to my head."They're here for Simon," I med, pushing myself up from my leather chair, my legs shaking underneath me."Dante, don't go out there," Bret begged, rushing to my side to try and support my weight. "You're in no shape to fight anyone! The curse is tear

DanteI marched right back down the stairs toward the sub-level dungeons, my heart racing like crazy.I couldn't just sit in my office waiting for guards to bring me dead-end search reports anymore.Simon was the only person in this whole pack house who knew where the Silver-Moon clan compound was hiding.I was going to drag her location out of his mouth today, even if I had to tear him apart piece by piece.I threw the iron cell door open, the banging loud against the stone wall.Simon was hanging from his chains, his head slumping down, but his pale eyes flicked straight to me as I walked in."Look who came back," Simon croaked out, wiping blood off his mouth with his shoulder. "Did your little search squad come up empty again, Alpha?""Give me her location, Simon," I growled out, stepping right into his space until my shadow covered his face. "I'm not asking you nicely this time.""Or what?" Simon laughed softly, a ugly, mocking sound filling the cold cell. "You'll beat me up again

DanteTwo weeks passed, and I didn't leave the cemetery ground for a second.I stayed right there, kneeling in the wet mud in front of Violet's empty headstone, staring at her carved name until my vision went blurry."Please, Violet," I whispered, my voice cracked, dry, and breaking into a million pieces. "Please just come back to me, baby. I'm so sorry."The rain poured down on my head, soaking right through my dirty shirt, but I didn't care at all.I didn't move an inch to cover myself or try to get warm.I deserved to freeze out here in the dark, and I deserved every bit of this pain.My body was breaking apart from the curse spreading through my veins like poison.A violent pain stabbed straight into my heart every time I tried to take a deep breath.Black veins were spreading up my neck, showing clearly on my skin, but I refused to let the pack doctors touch me."Alpha, please," Bret said, stepping up behind me carrying a thick wool blanket. "You've been out here for fourteen day

  • The Alpha's Bodyguard Is a Woman    One Hundred and Eighty Three

DanteI pressed my foot down hard on the gas pedal, taking the dark dirt road near the southern border at top speed.Three black SUVs were following right behind my vehicle, packed tight with our best pack fighters."The convoy is just past that tree line," Bret called out from the passenger seat, holding his radio in one hand. "They brought three supply trucks and twenty men.""Good," I growled, not slowing the car down even a mile per hour as we approached the bend.I didn't care how many men they brought or what weapons they had in those trucks. The blood curse was throbbing violently in my chest, a burning pain spreading straight toward my heart with every breath I took.I didn't care about the pain, and I didn't care if I took a bullet to the chest tonight either.Without Violet, every second spent breathing on this earth was just , unadulterated torture anyway.I slammed the front bumper of my SUV straight into the side of the lead Red-Fang truck, sending the vehicle crashing in

Violet's POV. "Alpha Dante?" My voice came out too small for my own good. A squeaky high-pitched tone that I could do nothing to control. If that kept happening he would find out faster than I would like. He tilted his head, watching me with gold-flecked onyx eyes. Is he going to turn? Luc
