What do you want, Alpha Lorenzo?" I asked, my voice trembling as my butt shifted now and then on the chair. "I'll do anything, please." "You'll do anything, but your voice is shaking so badly?" he asked, scoffing softly. "Would someone as apprehensive as you take my offer?" "What offer is that, first?" I asked, swallowing hard. He nodded quietly, resting his back against the swivel chair and crossing his legs, while I nervously joined my sweaty thighs, my lips thinned. "Why do you need this secretary job?" he asked, ignoring my question. "I thought you were a nurse." "About that, I've decided not to venture back into nursing," I answered, and his closed eyes shot open. He looked at me, his back leaving the chair rest. "What?" he asked, a tinge of disbelief in his voice. I gulped hard and nodded. "After what happened, I decided not to go back to that occupation. I'm still traumatized," I confessed. "I guess there's no use for you, then," he said. "You can leave, and you don't need to run and hide from me. I won't be catching you." "I… I…" I paused since no words could leave my lips anymore. Then, I got on my knees, the caps scraping the desk before us. "Please, sir, I need this job. I have many bills to pay, and I'm trying hard to survive in this difficult city. It hasn't been easy for me lately. Like I said before, if you give me this job, I'll do anything and everything you ask for." "Clasping his hands, which he placed on his knees, he leaned in, his face moving closer to mine as he asked in a whisper, 'You'll say anything and everything?'" "I promise," I replied, my gaze steady and unwavering, proving that I could be strong too and wasn't intimidated by anything he might say. "Then, go back to being a nurse," he said, his voice flat and detached. My eyes widened in surprise, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "Anything but that," I began standing up, but he cut me off. "A nurse only for me," he said, his gaze intense. I frowned, confusion etched on my face. "Just for you?" I asked, my voice laced with uncertainty. He nodded, his expression unyielding. "Yes, exclusively mine. You'll care for me, and only me." He paused, as if searching for the right words. "I'll be your patient, and you'll be my nurse." "Are you sick?" I asked, as I slowly sat back down, concern creeping into my voice as my eyes fixed on his face for any sign of illness. He chuckled, then turned his face away from me. "I suffer from insomnia," he said, his voice low and husky. "So, are you willing to treat me? I'll pay you four hundred dollars every month." He paused, his gaze still averted. "Once you agree, eight hundred dollars will be deposited into your account instantly." My eyes widened in surprise, and I nodded eagerly. "Yes, please. I accept the offer." I leaned forward, my confidence growing. "I've treated a few patients back at the Wild Song Pack who suffered from severe insomnia. It's nothing, really, and I'm sure I can help you too." He turned back to me, his expression skeptical. "Lullabies, drugs, therapy – none of that childish nonsense can cure my insomnia," he said, his words dripping with disdain. My face fell, my confidence deflating. "However, here's only one thing that helps me sleep at night."What's that?" I asked, feeling relieved once again, determined to help him overcome his insomnia. "I'll do whatever it takes to make sure it goes away."
"Sex," he whispered abruptly. "Se... sex?" I stuttered, my eyes widening in shock, as a shiver ran down my spine. My mind reeled in disgust and outrage, my face burning with a mix of emotions. I felt a wave of heat rise to my cheeks, and my hands began to tremble. Scoffing loudly in disdain, I rose to my feet, trying to shake off the unease.I dusted off my knee, my movements jerky, before grabbing my handbag and slinging it over my shoulder. "I appreciate everything you've done for me, but I think you've just lost my respect, Alpha Lorenzo. I'm trying to find a job, not a role as a sex worker or some slut. You should find another 'nurse' for the job. Excuse me, and have a nice day."
As I turned to leave, my heart pounded in my chest, and I struggled to compose myself. I felt a surge of anger and fear, but I pushed it down, trying to maintain and control myself.
"Think about it," he called out as I reached for the doorknob. "I haven't got all day, and you've only until midnight. I'll be in my office till then." I scoffed softly, clenched my jaw in anger and stormed out of the office. I couldn't believe he thought of me in that way. With the rest of the day stretching out before me, I tried my luck at a few other places, hoping to find a job, but there was nothing available. Some places were already fully staffed, and the last one only hired humans. Even after explaining that I was only an Omega, not yet having gotten my wolf at twenty-four, they still declined. I had to head back home, took a cold shower, and drifted off to sleep despite my growling stomach which signified my extreme hunger. Later, around 10 pm, my sister called, her voice shaking with sobs. I couldn't make out what she was saying through her heart-wrenching cries, so I immediately rushed to her place, concern propelling every step. As I entered the room, I sat beside her on the sofa and held her close as she wept on my chest. "What happened?" I asked, trying to comfort her. "My husband got scammed," she sobbed. "They drained our account. There's nothing left. He went to the bank, but they said they can't help us. What do we do now? How do we start over?" Feeling helpless and sorry for her, I wished there was a way to help, but I felt utterly useless. "How about I send you half of the money you gave me?" I offered, trying to be supportive. She pulled away from my chest, wiping her face. "Oh no, please, we'll be fine. Don't worry about it." She glanced at me, her eyes red from crying. "Isn't that the money you're still struggling to manage?" "I guess I didn't tell you?" I asked, trying to sound casual. "Tell me what?" she inquired, her curiosity piqued despite her distress. I forced a sweet smile, hiding the truth. "I got a job," I said, trying to sound convincing. Her face lit up with excitement, a bright smile spreading across her features. "Wow, that's great! A secretary job, right?" she asked, her tone vibrant with genuine enthusiasm. I shook my head, my gaze dropping to the floor as a hint of embarrassment washed over me. "No, I'll be working as a nurse." Her expression changed, her brows arching in surprise. "Nurse? But you said you didn't want to be a nurse anymore," she pointed out, her voice tinged with confusion. "Don't worry, I've only got just one patient, whom I'll be exclusively treating. I couldn't even say no. The pay was too good to pass up," I explained. "Wow. Okay, then," she said, nodding her head. "I'll support you, but you need to tell me everything that happens to you there, do you hear me?" "Sure," I replied, nodding in agreement. "But who's he?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. "This patient of yours? What does he suffer from?" "You won't believe this, but it's Alpha Lorenzo," I shared, my voice barely above a whisper. "He suffers from insomnia and needs a nurse. He thinks I'm the right person for the job." My sister's expression softened, and she gave me a warm hug. "I wish you all the best," she said softly. I returned the embrace, my voice barely audible. "Thank you." As we broke apart, I glanced at the door, a sense of urgency creeping in. "Thelma, what time is it? I need to be somewhere." "Where?" she asked, feeling quite worried and perplexed. "It's late, Eva." I hesitated, unsure how much more to reveal. "Somewhere important. I'll explain later," I said softly, moving toward the door. Thelma checked the time. "Well, it's already midnight. 12:30, to be precise."My heart skipped a beat as the reality hit me. Midnight! I was too late.
My face fell, disappointment creeping into my voice. "Oh no," I whispered, feeling a pang of despair.
EPILOGUETWO MONTHS LATERThe sun cast its golden rays upon the lush gardens of the Night City Pack's estate, where Eva and Lorenzo's wedding celebration was in full swing. LorenzoI leaned in, my lips brushing against Eva's in a tender kiss. She let out a soft laugh, her eyes sparkling with joy."What are you doing?" she teased, her voice filled with warmth.I rubbed her stomach gently, my voice brimming with love and affection. "Baby, please come fast. Your dad is waiting for you."Eva's smile widened, lighting up the entire room. Just then, her phone beeped, signaling a new message.Peering over her shoulder, I saw that it was a message from the Wild Song pack members. I couldn't help but grin as I read the heartfelt words expressing how much they missed her and longed to see her again."They've invited you to the pack," I said, my voice laced with excitement.Eva looked up at me, a hint of uncertainty in her eyes. "Should I go?"I chuckled softly. "Is that even a question? Of course, you should go. But don't worry, I'll be right there with you."Eva nodded, relief washing over her as she realized she wouldn't have to face the pack alone.THE NEXT DAY
EvaA sinister gleam filled Mona's eyes. "I heard you're pregnant, Eva."My mind spun, my voice trembling. "How did you know that?"Mona's smile widened, revealing a hint of cruelty. "Oh, I know everything about you, Eva."To my horror, she reached out and touched my stomach, a chilling intimacy in her gesture."I'll help you get rid of it," she whispered, her voice dropping to a low hiss. "I know you don't want the baby."I recoiled, my body trembling with fear and disbelief. "I never said I didn't want the baby."Mona's grip on my stomach tightened, and I tried to pull away, only to find that heavy chains bound my wrists and ankles, rendering me utterly helpless. With a flourish, Mona produced a dagger, its point glinting ominously in the dim light. I watched in horror as she traced the blade across my stomach, a wicked grin playing on her lips."You won't need this burden," Mona hissed, her eyes filled with a terrifying madness.A searing pain erupted in my stomach as the dagger sl
EvaRising from my seat, I followed the nurse as she led me to the lab for tests. With each step, my mind raced, conjuring innumerable possibilities.Anxious moments stretched into an eternity as I awaited the results, lost in a whirlwind of thoughts.Eventually, the nurse returned, her voice calling out, "Eva Chapman, please proceed to the doctor's office. Your results are ready."I stood up and went over to the door, which I knocked, my heart hammering in my chest, and entered.A woman with a warm smile greeted me. "Hello, Eva. I'm Dr. Rachel Thompson. Welcome. Please, take a seat."I complied, curiosity piqued by the doctor's optimistic demeanor. Could it mean that my test results were normal? Was I truly alright after all?Leaning forward, Dr. Thompson's eyes shone with kindness. "Eva, I have good news and...complicated news."My heart plummeted. Complicated? A feeling of dread washed over me. "What do you mean?" I asked, attempting to maintain a facade of calm.Dr. Thompson's smi
Eva Six hours ago... Standing beside Thelma in our cozy kitchen, I methodically chopped vegetables for dinner. The tantalizing aroma of sautéed ginger usually filled me with warmth and comfort, but today it was suffocating. I covered my nose, scrunching my face in disgust. "Thelma," I choked out, "I...I don't know what's wrong. This smell is nauseating." She turned to me, her brow creased with concern. "Eva, are you alright? You normally love the smell of ginger." I shook my head, a wave of nausea washing over me. "I don't know. It just...ugh." Before Thelma could respond, I bolted out of the kitchen, my hand clamped over my mouth. I raced to the bathroom and collapsed to my knees, retching violently into the toilet. The intensity and suddenness of my illness left me bewildered. After splashing my face with cold water, I stared at my pallid reflection in the mirror, unease settling over me. What was happening? With a deep breath, I gathered my courage and made my way back to th
Mona I ran through the dense forest alongside Erica, our footsteps pounding against the earth. Finally, we stopped and looked back, seeing no one pursuing us. "Fuck!" I exclaimed, running my hands through my hair in frustration. "Can you stop screaming?" Erica snapped, her expression stern. "What if they hear us and come for us? It's all your fault." I scoffed, turning to her. "You're not a saint, Erica. And don't try to tell me what to do." "I'm done following you, Mona," her anger flared, her voice rising. "It's not like I killed James; that was your doing. I'm not a murderer. I'M OUT." My grip on her arm tightened. "Where do you think you're going? You can't just leave." "Watch me. We're over," Erica said, her eyes flashing with a firm tone in her voice. I felt a surge of panic, my mind racing. "You can't just walk away." Erica's gaze hardened. "I can, and I will." I seethed with rage as she walked away. Without thinking, I grabbed a big stone and screamed, charging behind
