Chapter 10

I learnt two things from my first morning session for the AAP;

1) I am not fast.

2) I am not strong.

Two things I was actually quite aware of before actually.

The second portion of the training was to test our strength and while all the other candidates did more than the bare minimum, I was left in complete humiliation as I struggled with the challenges Lieutenant Raphael offered.

At some point, Lieutenant Raphael even let me stop earlier than the rest probably because he thought I would hurt myself.

It's honestly a miracle that I didn't.

I walked to my locker too tired and sore to mind that people were still staring and whispering.

In addition to the physical torture, we got our AAP IDs. They were supposed to reap a whole lot of benefits but I honestly didn’t care. And while my peers proudly wore theirs, I hid mine in my backpack, the last thing I wanted to do was flaunt something I hadn’t earned.

    FLASHBACK"Do you think we're safe here?" I asked Roman in a small voice.We were at the site of Uncle Victor's latest project, the mending of an old bell tower and everyone had left knocked off already.I had stayed behind to keep Roman company.
