Leon POV

The hospital wing felt like it was holding its breath. Too quiet, the kind of hush that made me want to fill the space with noise, but I just trailed after the nurse, my sneakers squeaking on the pale floors.

She didn’t seem to know me, and I sure didn’t know her. She didn’t look up, just gestured toward the exam room.

"Dr. Whitmore will be in shortly," she said in this brisk but not unkind voice. She smiled, but it was practiced, like she had places to be. "Change whenever you're rea

Leon stared at the name until the letters seemed to blur together, Adrian's family surname sitting there in Vittorio's careful handwriting like something reaching out from an entirely different life to strangle the one he'd been building here. "Grandfather," Damian said slowly, keeping his voice level even as his eyes flicked briefly toward Leon, some silent warning passing between them. "The Castellanos. Why them specifically." "Why not them?" Vittorio looked between the two of them, puzzled by the sudden tension. "They're one of the most respected families in the city. Old alliance, good standing, and their son is about the same age as you two. It would be strange to leave them off a guest list of this importance." "It's a large city, with plenty of families to choose from." Damian kept his tone measured, though Leon could see the effort it cost him. "Perhaps we start smaller. Fewer names. Something more manageable for your health, and less overwhelming for Leon, who's still s

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Heir   Midnight Cravings

The house had gone completely silent by the time Leon felt it, that particular hour past midnight when even old houses like this one seemed to stop breathing, when the halls held nothing but the faint tick of some clock somewhere and the occasional groan of settling wood. He lay on his side, staring at the sliver of moonlight cutting across the carpet, and tried, for nearly twenty minutes, to convince himself the craving would pass if he simply ignored it hard enough. It did not pass. If anything, it grew sharper, more specific, until he could practically taste the exact combination he wanted, tart and sweet and burning all at once, and his stomach twisted with a hunger that felt less like an ordinary appetite and more like something demanding to be obeyed. He turned over carefully, propping himself up on one elbow, studying the shape of Damian's back beside him, the slow rise and fall of his breathing. "Damian."

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Heir   A Heartbeat and a Warning

Dr. Whitmore arrived through the service entrance three days later, her car unremarkable, her bag carried like she was making a routine house call rather than crossing enemy lines to check on a De Luca hidden inside Moretti territory. Damian met her at the door personally, something tense in his shoulders as he led her upstairs. "Thank you for coming out here. I know it's an unusual request." "You're not the first powerful man to ask me to be discreet." She followed him without further comment, her eyes taking in the grandeur of the house with the practiced neutrality of someone who'd learned long ago not to react to wealth. "How is he doing? Physically." "Better than I expected, honestly. Though he still won't tell me half of what he's actually feeling." "That sounds exactly like him," she said dryly, and Damian's mouth twitched despite the tension in the moment. Leon was waiting in their room, perched on the edge of the bed, relief washing visibly over his face the moment

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Heir   Evenings Like This

Damian got home later than he'd promised, the sky already deepening into dusk by the time his car pulled up the long drive, and he found Leon exactly where Maria had left him, still by the pool, a light blanket now draped over his shoulders against the cooling air. "You've been out here all day?" Damian asked, dropping onto the stone edge beside him, loosening his tie with one hand. "Most of it." Leon didn't look over, eyes fixed on the water, now catching the last orange light of evening. "It's the only place in this house that doesn't feel like it's waiting for something." "That's a strange way to describe a house." "Is it?" Leon finally turned to him. "Every hallway has a portrait of someone judging me. Every room feels like it's holding its breath until your grandfather walks in and decides whether I've earned being there. Out here, it's just water. It doesn't care who my family is." Damian was quiet for a moment, something in his expression softening. "I used to come ou

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Heir   House Rule

Morning light spilled across the bed, and Leon woke first, staring at the ceiling with the particular clarity that comes after doing something you've already decided to regret. Damian stirred beside him a moment later, and Leon sat up before either of them could say anything that made the previous night feel more complicated than it already did. "We need a rule," Leon said, pulling the sheet up around himself. "Good morning to you too." "I'm serious, Damian." He turned to face him, forcing his voice steady despite the flush still warm across his skin. "You don't come out of the shower like that again. No towel, no dripping, none of it. If you need to walk from bathroom to dresser, you do it fully dressed or you send Maria to fetch clothes first." Damian propped himself up on one elbow, something almost amused tugging at his mouth despite the gravity Leon was clearly aiming for. "That's a very specific rule." "It's a necessary rule." "Alright." He held up both hands, mock surren
