Sofia spoke in a flat voice, staring at Selina like her eyes alone could kill. “You think I’m stupid? It doesn’t matter if I talk or not. In the end, you’re going to kill me anyway. So what’s the point.”

Selina remembered Sofia screaming at the witch earlier that her mission was to kill Selina. She still had no idea where that hatred came from. Their first meeting had been in the hospital when Selina went to see the patients infected by the virus.

“It’s never too late to change, Sofia. We’ve already lost too many lives. You can make up for what you’ve done by telling us the truth.” Selina’s voice died when Sofia’s laughter cut through it.

Sofia laughed with her head tilted back, like Selina had just told a joke.

“How sweet. You think you can talk me into it?” Sofia murmured. “The funny thing is, I actually want to say it.” Her eyes glittered with amusement.
