Raven kept staring at the spot where Dorian had disappeared. He frowned a little and asked quietly, “You okay? What did he want?”

Selina gave a small nod. “I’m fine. He was just being stupid. I couldn’t even laugh,” she said flatly.

“If we’re outside, stay close to me,” Raven said, firm and calm, and Selina nodded obediently. He handed her one of the drink cans. She took it, murmured a quick thanks, and they headed for the car.

On the way, Selina asked about the phone call Raven had taken. He explained that four patients had recovered, and the news eased both of them.

Selina felt the tension finally loosen. The spell that had bound them was gone. All that was left now was dealing with the remaining virus.

They went to the hospital to check on the patients. The situation there was almost fully under control, and many people were starting to show real signs of recovery. The mood had shifted to something lighter, almost hopeful.

Selina’s fear slowly faded as she breathed in a scent she knew all too well. Her body went still. She let herself go weak when warm breath brushed her ear, a solid, familiar presence pressing against her back.“Don’t scream,” Raven’s deep voice murmured close to her, carrying a calm that seeped straight into her chest.Selina nodded faintly. Slowly, Raven loosened his grip to give her space. In the cramped room, Selina turned around. Her brows immediately knit together when her gaze met Raven’s dark blue eyes. She had to tilt her head up slightly to look at him.“What’s wrong…”The question never finished because Raven pulled her into a tight embrace. His face buried in the curve of her neck, his breathing heavy as he drew in a deep breath.“I’m sorry,” Raven muttered, his voice thick with emotion. Selina had to rise onto her toes because of their height difference.“Why?” Selina whispered. Her arms slid around Raven’s back, returning the hug gently. “Why are you apologizing?” she ask

“This is serious,” Silas said, his voice tight. “Word is, a student heard noises coming from your office and turned it into gossip.”Raven sat calmly, his expression unchanged. On the other hand, Selina sat stiffly, cheeks burning red.“You should have been more careful,” Silas added.“I remember seeing a girl with you, Selina,” Raven said suddenly, looking straight at her.His gaze dropped to the bandage on Selina’s neck, and his expression hardened. It took Selina a full minute to realize what he meant.“No. Susan would never spread rumors,” Selina said quickly, rushing to defend her. “She actually helped us hide from the students.”“Fine. We’ll figure something out,” Silas said. “About the lab test,” he tried to change the subject, but Raven stopped him with a small gesture.Selina didn’t wait any longer. She slipped out of the room, her heart pounding against her ribs. What was wrong with her? This wasn’t right. Why was she acting like some foolish teenager? She should have been c

Selina ran down the long hallway of Westbrook University, breath short and uneven. She was already late. All she could hope was that her professor was late too. No such luck. By the time she slipped quietly into the classroom, he was already in front, mid-lecture. Thankfully, he didn’t call her out.She took this class with Susan, and thankfully her best friend had saved her a seat.Selina sat down and hurried to arrange her books and notes.Susan tapped Selina’s notebook with the tip of her pen to get her attention. “I thought you were going to be late.”Selina froze, eyes widening when she saw the tiny writing Susan was pointing at. Heat rushed straight to her cheeks.Of course Susan remembered.Selina turned, only to find Susan’s gaze fixed on her neck, right where the bandage was. Susan lifted her brows with meaning, and Selina shot her a warning look before facing the front again.God, everything had happened so fast that she had actually forgotten Susan already knew their secret

The sudden movement made Kendall’s head spin, her chin lolling to one side. She squeezed her eyes shut and groaned as blood rushed to her head. The dizziness grew worse. All because of Leon. Because of his annoying caveman tactics. Why couldn’t he just carry her like a bride instead of manhandling her like a gorilla?“Drink this.” His voice was rough.Kendall ignored him. Her head throbbed. She didn’t want to drink. Didn’t want to move. She only wanted to sleep, but the heat inside her body kept rising with every second. Her hand ached to slip down there, but she knew it wouldn’t be enough. The drug in her system was too strong. She didn’t want anything to do with Leon, especially when she was fully aware he didn’t even like her and still loved his first partner.Let the world burn. She didn’t need anyone’s love. She was strong. She could handle herself. She could handle this.‘Yeah, Kendall. You’re strong. Take a deep breath.’She was still mumbling to herself when a hand slid across

“Bastard,” Leon muttered, voice cold. “How dare you,” he growled, low and sharp. He strode up to Dorian and slammed his fist into the man’s jaw. Dorian staggered back a few steps, groaning and spitting as blood trickled from his lip.“What the hell is your problem?!” Dorian snarled, trying to swing back. Leon was faster. He shifted his stance and drove his fist into Dorian’s stomach. Dorian folded over in pain, still forcing himself to stay upright. With a low snarl, Dorian lunged again and kicked Leon in the side, making Leon jolt.“You,” Leon growled, grabbing Dorian by the throat.Dorian grabbed his neck in return. They stared each other down, but it was obvious Dorian was already in bad shape.“Touch her again and I’ll make sure you never breathe again,” Leon said, voice icy.“She didn’t mind. Who the hell are you to tell me what to do,” Dorian forced out.“I’m her mate, idiot. I heard her tell you to stop when you had her pinned to the wall,” Leon shot back, tightening his grip u

That night, before Raven went after Selina and slept with her over and over, burning with desire, Kendall saw him walk out of the bar and leave her there alone. She had no idea what she had done to deserve that kind of humiliation. It crushed her. Her pride stung. She’d met her father the day before. They had dinner together, but everything felt cold and tight. To her, they looked more like strangers who happened to share a table than family. She wanted to talk to Raven. She knew if she messaged him from her own phone, he would ignore it. So she used her father’s phone, sent the text, then deleted it so he wouldn’t notice. She only asked if Raven would come. It made sense that he was surprised to see her, but Kendall felt like she had no other option. She gathered every scrap of courage she had and told him what she wanted, hoping he would understand and be willing to help. To Raven, it was nothing but a stupid idea. Her hope collapsed. Then, right in the middle of that chaos, her bod
