Aeliana's POV

Jolene's hands shook as she resumed the chant. Blood dripped from her shoulder onto the mat, but she kept going. Kept pushing through the final verses.

My wolf fought harder. These males were holding us down. Restricting us. Had to break free. Had to...

"Aeliana, please." Caelan's voice was right against my ear. "I know you're in there. You are not in danger. Come back ."

His words cut through the red haze. I grabbed onto them. Onto his voice. Onto the feeling of his arms that meant safety.

Slowly, I clawed my way back.

"That's it," he whispered. "Come back to me."

Jolene spoke the final word.

The candles extinguished all at once. The barn went dark.

The pressure on me was released like a snapped bowstring.

I collapsed in Caelan's arms, shaking.

"It's done," Jolene said, her voice unsteady. "The circle is closed. Protection holds."

Nobody celebrated.

Aeliana's POV"What about finding the children?" Thomas pressed from his screen. "Can you trace them magically?""I can try. But if they're behind serious magical barriers, it might not work." Jolene looked thoughtful. "I'll need to examine the abduction sites, see what kind of signature we're dealing with up close.""Anything you need," Caelan said. "We'll provide full access to all sites.""Same here," Sarah said through her screen. "Whatever helps find these kids."The other voiced their agreement through their video feeds."Then I suggest we coordinate our efforts," Jolene said. "I'll start with Moonveil, establish protections and tracking protocols. Once we have something that works, we can implement it across all affected territories.""Agreed," Marcus said from his screen. "The faster we move, the better chance we have.""We'll reconvene later," Caelan said. "Share any new information, coordinate next steps."The video conference ended shortly after, screens going dark one by o

Aeliana's POVThe war room was larger than I expected.I'd never actually been in here before. At least, not that I remembered. It was a large space in the basement of the pack house, walls covered with maps and security monitors, a huge table dominating the center. The five of us gathered around the massive conference table.Caelan sat at the head, looking every bit the Alpha he was supposed to be. Marcus and Liora flanked him on either side. David had his laptop open, ready to present evidence. And me? I sat beside Caelan, trying to look like I belonged here and not like I had no idea what I was doing. The main wall was dominated by a huge screen, currently split into four video feeds. Four different packs, all connected by this call.Alpha Thomas Riverside appeared in the top left feed, his Beta standing behind him. Top right showed Alpha Sarah Blackwood with her Gamma. Bottom left had two enforcers from the Mountain Ridge Pack. And bottom right was Alpha Marcus Silverstone, who lo

Aeliana's POVThe packhouse felt different the next morning.I couldn't put my finger on it at first. People still said good morning when they saw me. Still smiled and nodded. But there was something underneath now. Something that hadn't been there yesterday.Fear. But not the kind I expected. They weren't afraid for the missing children, though that worry was there too. This was something else. Something that made conversations stop when I walked into a room and start again in hushed whispers after I left.I was pouring coffee when I heard them. Two women I barely knew, standing by the kitchen window. Pack members, but not ones I'd spent much time with since being back."I'm just saying," one of them was whispering, "it's an awful coincidence.""Shh. She might hear you.""She's Luna. She should hear this. Should know what people are thinking."I kept pouring coffee, pretending I couldn't hear every word."Think about it, Sarah. Two years of peace. No magical attacks, no missing child

Caelan's POVThe meeting was going to shit.I'd called it to brief them on our security upgrades, get everyone on the same page about patrol schedules and threat assessments. Standard pack business.Instead, I was listening to Elder Morrison drone on about "insufficient measures" while Elder Hayes nodded along like a bobblehead. The other three elders sat in their usual spots, looking appropriately grave and offering nothing useful.Liora stood by the window looking like she'd rather be anywhere else. Marcus leaned against the wall with that patient expression he got when he was trying not to roll his eyes. David had dirt under his fingernails from whatever tracking work he'd been doing."...current threat level requires more decisive action," Morrison was saying. "We need to consider bringing in outside consultants, perhaps even relocating vulnerable pack members until..."The door burst open.Aeliana stood in the doorway like she owned the place. Hair slightly mussed from her walk,

Aeliana's POVI hadn't seen Caelan since the morning. Not that I was complaining or anything. The man had pack business to handle, and I... well, I had a day to figure out what the hell had just happened between us.Breakfast was awkward as shit. Elena kept giving me these knowing looks across the table while Meredith hummed happily at the stove. David made some comment about "glowing" that earned him a smack from Sophie, and even Liora seemed less hostile than usual.Like they all knew exactly how I'd spent my morning.Which they probably did. Wolf hearing was a bitch when you wanted privacy.By lunch, I was going stir-crazy. My wolf was restless, probably missing Caelan's presence, and I couldn't sit still. So I wandered. The pack house was bigger than I'd realized. It was divided into different wings with numerous rooms. Rooms I hadn't explored yet, hallways that seemed to go on forever. From the North wing, which
