“Our Alpha has a fiance. And trust me, she's beautiful. She's strong. She was specifically selected by the Alpha's father, the former Alpha Darius.” She continued. “But you don't have to worry about it. She's not here yet. So you can enjoy this while it lasts.” She scoffed. “Or maybe not, human.”

I pretended not to notice the tone in which she said the last word. She doesn't like me. It was evident with the way she was staring at me. It's not like I care.

“Thank you for the information by the way, Miss Helen.” I feigned a smile at her. “You shouldn't worry about me. I'll definitely take my time until Alpha Lazar's beautiful mate arrives. I can't possibly miss this opportunity, can I?”

From the way her eyes darkened with anger, I could tell she wasn't expecting my words. “For a weak human, you've got some guts.”

“Oh, did you really just say that? How adorable.”

“Stop acting all high and mighty, you rude bitch. You may be the Alpha's mate, but trust me he has a fiance, one he loves dearly. In fact you don't come close. Once she comes here, the Alpha will have no choice but to toss you aside like the garbage you are. Would you still be so proud by then?”

“Don't you think I should be the one to worry about that, Helen or whatever your name is?”

“Don’t you dare talk about me, you lowly human.” She hissed.

I refused to get mad at her for addressing me as a lowly human. I just wiggled my brows and walked away, knowing it would annoy her more than anything I could say.

“You bitch!” I heard her cold remarks behind me, but I didn't care. I just walked into the room and shut the door behind her. Thankfully, she had pointed this out as room earlier, else I'd have lost my way. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves.

As soon as I got into the room, I stopped to admire it. Oh my goodness! I was dumbfounded by the sight before me. It wasn't just a room. It was a dream I hadn't known I had.

The atmosphere in the room was soft, filled with a faint, clean scent, maybe vanilla and lilies.

My eyes went straight to the queen-sized bed that took up almost all the space in the room. It looked like a cloud that someone had carefully dressed in layers of white linen, plump pillows piled high against the headboard, just waiting to swallow me up. A ray of sunshine spilled in through the enormous window, softened by long, flowing curtains patterned with delicate pink and gold swirls. They moved slightly in a breeze I couldn't feel, making the whole space feel airy and impossibly elegant.

I walked towards the dresser. It was polished wood, and on top, everything was perfectly arranged.

There were a dozen little girly items; sparkling glass bottles of body lotions. I picked one of them up and sniffed it. It smelled of exotic fruit. The delicate silver and gold jewelry coiled in a small dish caught my eyes. It was beautiful.

There was a vase holding a single, perfect rose. This room felt completely, wonderfully feminine, like it was prepared for me.

I pulled open the tall closet door and gasped. The sheer number of clothes was staggering. Silks, soft knits, vibrant dresses, and rows of beautiful shoes lined up like soldiers. Every hanger held something beautiful, something I never would have been able to afford or even imagine wearing in all my existence on earth.

It was breathtaking. This wasn't just a beautiful room; it was the most beautiful room I had ever been in, a complete escape from the gray, shadowed places I was used to. Plus, it's not like I've ever slept in any rooms apart from the one I had back home.

After checking the closet, I walked back into the main area and let myself plop down onto the small couch. It was the softest thing ever, cradling me perfectly. As I looked up, I noticed a slightly recessed door in the far wall.

Curiosity pulling me, I walked over and opened it. The door led to a small, private balcony, complete with a wrought-iron table and a stunning view of the whole compound.

A genuine smile spread across my face. I haven't smiled like that in my life. No. The only time I ever smiled like this was when I found out that I was carrying Elliot's child. I could vividly remember how I'd grinned from ear to ear, hoping that he would be happy to know about his child. Too bad the smile didn't last because that poor child was ripped from me, by his cruel and manipulative father.

I really didn't want to dwell on something that I can't change. I can't bring back the child I lost.

Taking a deep breath, I walked back into the room. I turned to the other door. This one led to the bathroom. I pushed it open and my jaw dropped. It was massive. The sparkling marble, the huge soaking tube, the separate glass shower enclosure. All of it was bigger than my father's whole house.

I've always imagined what it'll be like to use a bath tube and now, I have one in my room, all thanks to my…… Alpha Lazar. I don't know what to call him now. My husband or my boyfriend. But I'll think about it later.

The overwhelming beauty, the sheer luxury, the promise of safety and comfort... it hit me all at once like a heavy blow. My eyes suddenly felt heavy and hot. Tears of pure gratitude and joy filled my eyes.

I wouldn't have to stay in those miserable, dark rooms anymore. I wouldn't have to sleep in the dark room anymore or on those flat mattresses. And the clothes…. Goodness I would actually have a lot to choose from now.

It was too much to hold inside. I sank to my knees right there on the soft carpet and prayed to God. I thanked him for this miracle, for answering those quiet, desperate prayers I'd barely dared to whisper every night before laying my head to rest. I thanked him for those desperate prayers; for finally taking me away from all my suffering after twenty two good years.

After a long moment, when the quiet peace had settled over me, I stood up. The stress was melting away already. I decided the best way to start this new life was to freshen up. I went straight for the bathroom to take a long, much-needed shower. It felt heavenly.

“Maybe Elliot betraying me wasn't a bad idea after all.” I chuckled to myself as the water cascaded down my body. Maybe it wasn't a bad idea as he brought me to that auction house because by now, if we had actually escaped, I’ll still be on the run from my father and of course Mr Blaze.

I'll properly thank Elliot the next time I see him, because I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his stupid betrayal.

  • The Alpha’s Human Property    CHAPTER 10

LAZAR “Who's the new girl, Alpha?” My Gamma, Mason asked me. I tore my eyes away from the laptop and traced it to see what or who he's staring at. My eyes landed on my mate. She was curled up on the mini couch in the balcony. Her legs were tucked under her, wrapped in one of the blue throw blankets. My eyes just stayed fixed on her. She had a paperback open, and man, was she ever locked in. You could tell by the way her head was tilted slightly and her eyes didn’t move at all that she was gone. Completely lost in the book, not worried about me or what the Pack has to say about her. She has her whole mind on the words of the page. Her red hair was pulled back in a simple messy bun. The way she always does it when she’s really focusing. It looked soft, and I felt that familiar warmth spread through my chest.I reached for the coffee on the table and took a long drink from it, just watching her breath. And then I smiled. Not a big laugh or anything, just a deep-in-the-gut feeling o

ALLISON It's been two days since I stepped foot in the Pack House and I must say it's been the best time of my life. Other than the maids, Lazar and Marcus have been treating me well. And with respect. They didn't care that I was a human. They treated me with care. Lazar was patient. He answers my question without acting like I was a burden. And sometimes it brings tears to my eyes, to know that someone doesn't see me as a burden, but instead as an important figure in his life that deserves all the love in the world. Another shocking realization is that I wasn't shy around him. Yes, I know how other ladies would have been shy around him, but that wasn't the case here. I felt safe around him. Protected. Since I was bored, I decided to take a stroll around the mansion. On my way, I bumped into the same old lady that had brought my breakfast to my room. I must say she's the only sweet maid here. The other maids only treat me well when Alpha Lazar is there. But if he isn't, they go ba

ALLISON “So, tell me, do you like your new room?” Alpha Lazar inquired over dinner. We were currently sitting in the dining room, waiting for the maids to bring our meals. “If you don't, I can ask the maids to arrange another one for you. There are countless empty rooms in this house. Including the clothes. I have no idea what your size was. I only gave them an estimated size so they could get them, so if they're not your size, I can have them get new ones for you.”Hearing him say those words brought a smile to my face. I mean he specifically prepared everything for me. The rooms, the clothes, the interior decoration, everything. They were all specially prepared for me. By him. That was so thoughtful of him. No one has ever had my best interest at heart. It almost made me tear up.I reached for his hands and gave it a gentle squeeze. “It is perfect, Lazar. I love everything. The interior decorations, the clothes, everything. I love them. And knowing you specially prepared them for

ALLISON “This is your new home now.” Alpha Lazar said to me as soon as the car came to a stop. I stared out of the window to see a house that dwarfed everything I've ever seen. It was just huge. Not just tall, but endlessly wide, built from pale stone that looked expensive and impossibly clean. It felt less like a home and more like an entire government building. Enormous and cold. Everything about it whispered, "Wealth and prosperity” if that makes any sense. The grounds were too perfect. We drove past giant patches of lawn where huge, dark stone statues stood scattered around, like silent, carved bodyguards. I couldn't tell if they were people or animals, but they were definitely watching.“My home?”“Yes, Allie. Welcome to the Pack House. You'll be living here from now on.” He answered. “Wow!” The words left my lips before I could stop them. “This is beautiful.” I've always imagined what it'll feel like to live in a new house, so long as it wasn't the dark room that I've been

ALLISON “Thank you for saving me.” I said to Lazar as he walked into the ward. In his hands was a wrapped box. And at once glance, I knew what it was. Fruits. How thoughtful of him. “You are welcome, Allison.” He flashed a warm smile at me. “How are you feeling today?”“I'm… I'm better.” I replied truthfully. Honestly, I have no idea what the doctor had done to me, or what drugs he had given me, but one thing I couldn't deny was that it was effective. I felt better than I've ever felt in a long while. The discomfort and pain I felt in between my legs were gone. The injuries on my body were healing fast too. “That's good to know, Allison.” He took his glasses off and placed them on the table beside him. “I'm glad you're okay. You'll have to remain here until you recover fully.” I was relieved to know that. I haven't figured out what to do with my life as soon as I'm discharged. I have nowhere to go, except my father's house. And with the ugly memories the house holds for me, it's
