LOGINAiden's POVDamn, I didn't expect my father to make an announcement about the competition so soon. Although he'd told me months ago to make sure I wasn't alone, it was sudden to receive the news of the announcement that shook the ground of Velmora. The competition would begin officially the day after tomorrow. The winner would win Velmora. The wolves would be around to watch us to make the election process clean, free and fair. Hearing the news, after being embarrassed by Nina some days ago, crushed my heart and braced up my mind for whatever hurdles still stood in my way. This was now deeply urgent, and my ego might have to sit somewhere till the throne would become officially mine. "Hi Nina, can we talk? I promise it'll be in the open, somewhere safe and secure, and we will get you whatever you want, no matter the price." I clicked the send option and the text message got delivered immediately. I shut my eyes, placing the phone on the table as I silently prayed I'd get a good res
Nina's POV"There will be a tournament between my sons and their prospective Lunas. The winner will rule Velmora." Jace read. "When did he announce that?" "This morning. He's made up his mind." Jace responded. "Or better put, he feels pressured by those around him—the Elders, the wolves, everyone, including me. I never stop disturbing him since he declared me innocent." "I still don't get it. Amara wouldn't confess. How did you make her?" My hands still crossed on his shoulders, I asked. I was deeply curious about how this played out. Even though I knew Jace wouldn't make any payment to get this done, it wouldn't be a bad idea to find out. "I underwent a series of depressive states. I tried to explain how I feel to you, but you were never going to listen to me. Aiden seized the chance to make me sadder, but at the end of the day, the truth has been revealed. And we're fine." Jace explained. His tone suggested that he didn't want to continue with the topic. It reopened the wounds h
Jace's POV"Welcome home, sweetheart. You've been gone for about 10 hours. And, no, you didn't tell me you were going to stay so long outside." Amara said as soon as I walked into Velmora's hallway. My personal guard stood behind me, holding onto my travel bag, while I paused my movement to listen to Amara's untrue statements. "I am not your sweetheart, Amara. I am not under any obligation to tell you how much time I'm gonna spend outside, either." I gave a quick response as I brushed past her."Another woman arrived in the morning and claimed you got her pregnant. She came with three kids and the Alpha said he would like to see you one-on-one." Amara's words stopped me dead in the tracks. What sort of a regenerated problem was this?."Three kids? What's the name of the woman?" I turned around to ask. She finally got the attention she's been desperately seeking. I could have utterly denied being a father to three kids, but there were countless times when I got drunk and had to be dri
Nina's POV"It's a good thing to be honest with yourself, isn't it?" Jace pulled a chair close to where I sat. One more cup of Hennessy and I would be drunk. I dropped the cup on the table, my blurry eyes moving to roam over his face. "What did you say?" "Be honest with me. This is the best feeling you've had in a while now, isn't it?" Jace rephrased. "Is it not, love?" "Love? Who is your love?" I voiced out again. The fact that my voice sounded like I was drunk made the chat a little uninteresting. "I think we're past this now, Nina. We've danced, played games, hugged, we've even forgiven each other. Are you drunk?" His last statement returned my full consciousness and I sat upright. "I'm not drunk. I heard you, Jace. I've forgiven you. We're cool. We're good now, aren't we?" "Yeah, we are. Coming over to my side, that is?" "No, I'm going to meet my brother. He must have been waiting so patiently to have me back in his arms. I need to be with him now. Can you help with that?"
Jace's POV "Do you like it?" "I love it." Nina, keeping her head lowered, responded, her voice laced with tears. "Thank you for the gift, Jace." "That's the least of the gifts for you, Nina." I calmly responded, then a knock came on the door, diverting our attention. Kate stepped up to check who was around. And it turned out to be my evil brother, Aiden. As soon as my eyes caught his figure standing by the doorway, my wolf let out a soft groan. He shouldn't be here for any reason. Kate opened the door so Nina would see clearly who was here to celebrate with her. Nina wiped the tears from her face with her palms, and she finally called his name. "Aiden? How come?" "I know you have missed me so much. This is the best time to get things settled. Oh my poor Nina!" Aiden exclaimed, stepping inside just as Kate slammed the door shut. He moved towards the windows and glared at Kate. "Open the fucking door. What's the problem?" "Respect yourself, brother, and leave. She doesn't want
Nina's POVMy eyes fluttered open as I spotted Kate on the chair. Her head was lowered on the table. Of course she dozed off. She needed a lot of rest. Any friend would be excited to watch me shift on my birthday, but that wouldn't mean lack of sleep. "Kate. Kate?" I gently called, rising from the bed. The last thing I remembered was Kate telling me to help with her jotter which was close to her pillowcase. I must have dozed off after hopping on the bed. Gently nudging her, she raised her head like though I raised an alarm. She rubbed her fingers on her eyes. When she saw my face, her lips stretched in a broad smile. "Happy Birthday, Nina! Happy 20th Birthday Nina!" She screamed. She was back at this again. She unlocked her phone, scrolled through her Audiomack, quickly clicking on my favorite song. The MP boomed loudly in the room as waves of happiness ran through my veins. She held my hands as we danced to the rhythm of the song. "Too early to drink up and dance away your sorro
