ANYA'S POV

The private gym in the north wing was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was spacious, with tall windows overlooking the cliff, and entirely lined with thick black leather mats. The air smelled of well-tended leather, cold metal, and above all, that sharp scent of pine and winter that always clung to Azkarion’s skin.

It was six in the morning. I stood in the centre of the room, dressed in black training trousers and a t-shirt. Even though I had applied a full dose of the blocker after waking, being alone with him in such an enclosed space always pushed my nerves to their breaking point.

Azkarion walked to the middle of the room, wearing only grey trousers and a sleeveless top that showed off his powerful arms and the scars that mapped his skin.

"A wolf does not fight like a human, Anya," he began, his rough voice cutting through the quiet. "We do not aim for points: we aim for the jugular. What you did last night against that drunk worked, but if Gideon or someone of his rank corners you, your strength will be worth nothing."

"That is why I am here," I replied, lifting my guard with my fists at chest height. "Teach me to turn their own strength against them."

He smiled sideways — no warmth, only dark fascination.

"You will learn the hard way. Attack me."

I did not wait. I lunged forward, aiming for his jaw, but he did not even flinch. He caught my fist mid-air as if it were a game, tugged me forward, and threw me completely off balance. My chest slammed against his, hard as stone, and I felt the heat radiating from his body.

"Too slow," he said close to my ear, his breath brushing my cheek. "And far too predictable. If I were your enemy, I would have broken your arm by now."

I grew angry at myself and at him, and tried to sweep his legs out from under him — but he saw it coming, shifted his weight, and we both tumbled onto the mats. The wind was knocked out of me, and before I could react, he was already over me: one hand pinned my wrists above my head, while the weight of his body held my legs completely still.

There was no escape.

"Let go," I gasped, struggling to move, but his strength was overwhelming.

"No," he said calmly. "This is the reality. Your mind tries to plan tactics, but your body freezes when it feels the weight of an Alpha above you. You have to stop overthinking and start reacting."

There was not a millimetre of air between us. I felt his heart beat slow and steady against mine, the press of his chest, and the rhythm of his breathing. His breath — scented with mint and cold wind — tangled with my own.

His grey eyes dropped for a moment to my parted lips, then lifted back to meet my gaze. That usual coldness faded for a heartbeat, revealing a flash of gold that made me catch my breath.

"The deal was that you would train me, not smother me," I protested, though my voice came out trembling, and I did not look away.

"I am teaching you to survive against me, little liar," he whispered, his voice dropping so low and soft it sent shivers all the way down my spine.

Slowly he loosened the pressure of his fingers, but he did not pull back. With his other hand, he brushed my face gently, his thumb tracing the line of my jaw with a tenderness that clashed completely with his strength. Wherever he touched, it felt as though my skin was burning.

My heart raced at a frantic pace. I knew I should not be this close — that all that mattered was the secret, the blocker, and the debt I owed for my brother. But when he tilted his head a little lower, drawing near enough to almost touch me, I could not bring myself to move or push him away.

Time seemed to stand still. His lips grazed the corner of mine: cold and burning all at once, and gooseflesh broke out over every inch of me.

"If you do not push me away right now, Anya..." he murmured against my mouth, his eyes glowing with that dangerous gold "...I am going to forget every single damned line of that contract."

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Eve Gathering

ANYA'S POVThe Great Hall had been completely transformed for the reception ahead of the Ancestral Council summit. Crystal chandeliers blazed over polished marble floors, and an orchestra played soft melodies that barely masked the tension hanging thick in the air. The elite of the shapeshifter world filled the room: alphas from other packs, diplomats, and high-ranking warriors. All were dressed in full regalia, yet in every gaze lurked the wild beast beneath.I walked beside Azkarion, feeling dozens of eyes tracking our every step. I wore a black velvet gown, cut low at the back with an elegant train that brushed the floor. I had applied an extra dose of the blocker to my neck and wrists to keep up the appearance of an omega she-wolf. Azkarion, in his immaculate tuxedo, kept his hand resting firmly on my hip — a clear signal to everyone that I was with him."Hold your head high, little liar," he whispered close to my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "Kaelen is approaching — Alpha

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Night of the Storm

ANYA'S POVNight fell over the mountain with the weight of a predator in no hurry. By ten o’clock, the north wind began to hammer against the windows as if it meant to tear them down, and a winter chill swept through the valley. The first strike came soon after: a sharp crack of thunder boomed across the roof, and every light went out at once. Only the orange glow of the fireplace remained, barely cutting through the dark. The heating died with the power. For them — warm-blooded, with fur woven into their very bones — this cold was nothing. But for me, a human trapped within these stone walls, the air seeped in like icy needles, straight to the marrow.I sat on the edge of the bed, wrapped in the thickest duvet I could find, shivering so hard my teeth chattered. I even imagined the blocker on my skin had frozen solid too.Azkarion stood by the fire, shining a torch over a map. When he heard my frustrated whimper, he turned toward me."You’re freezing," he said, stepping slowly closer.

ANYA'S POVMy hands were still trembling long after Azkarion had left the gym for an urgent meeting with his captains. Where he had touched me, his warmth lingered on my skin, but the cool air of the room helped me regain a little control. I showered quickly, applied another full dose of the blocker, and dressed in a loose wool sweater and dark trousers.I needed a moment alone. Just one minute to remember who I was, and why I had walked straight into this den of wolves, risking my life.I stepped to the window overlooking the forest ravine. The sun was barely managing to pierce the thick mist clinging to the mountainside. Suddenly, the low buzz of my disposable phone — the only human thing I had managed to bring without anyone noticing — cut through the silence. The name flashing on the screen turned my blood to ice: Central Pack Hospital.I answered with clumsy fingers, instinctively stepping away from the door as I held it to my ear."Hello?" I whispered, my voice barely audible."

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Clash of wills

ANYA'S POVThe silence that followed Azkarion’s words was so thick it seemed to freeze the air. Gideon halted abruptly in the doorway: his yellow eyes blazed with held-back rage and the fear of taking one more step. Behind him, the four guards kept their hands resting on their weapons, yet none dared move forward. That pressure radiating from Azkarion was like an invisible wall, a clear warning: anyone foolish enough to provoke him would not leave alive. He held me pressed tight to his chest, shielding me almost entirely with his body. I could feel his heart hammering against my back and the heat rising from his skin. His hand on my waist did not loosen even a fraction: firm, possessive, completely in control. But what frightened me most was not the men at the door — it was what I knew: the blocker had worn off completely from the strain of the fight. My true scent began to fill the air, sweet and fragile, an aroma that among so many wolves was a death sentence."Your envoy?" Gideon r

  • The Alpha’s Impostor Luna   Trail of obsession

ANYA'S POVThe cold of the metal against my throat left me frozen, but the adrenaline that ran through me burned the fear before I could be paralyzed. The man had me cornered against the railing, pushing me with all his might, and his hot breath—which smelled of alcohol and raw meat—was pounding my ear."One cut, little wolf," he hissed in the darkness, resting the blade just above my wrist. If Alpha or pure bloodline blood comes out, I'll apologize to Gideon. But if you bleed like any ordinary human... I'll slit your throat right here before your male finds out.All the survival nonsense I had practiced alone for weeks came to mind. A wolf expected a human to stiffen or beg; a submissive wolf would submit. I couldn't do either.Instead of leaning back, I did just the opposite: I nailed the heel of my shoe with all my strength to the attacker's instep. He let out a muffled groan, and his grip faltered for a second: it was all I needed.
