37. Disappointed to see you

Shadow woke up to the sound of her whimpering.

They were in his bedroom. He carried her to his bed and slept beside her. He got up and looked at her.

She was covered in sweat; she had a deep troubled frown, and her hands were gripping the sheets tightly.

He shook her.

“Lillian, wake up.” He called her. “Lily!”

Her eyes flew open and he could see the fear in her eyes. She turned around and saw Shadow. She hugged him.

He patted her back to comfort her.

“It was just a nightmare.” He told her.

“No, it wasn’t.” She told him in a low tone, “It was a memory of my father dying.”

He froze for a second and felt sad for her.

“It was in the past. Don’t dwell on it.” He told her.

But no matter how many years pass by, she will never forget it. But she felt at ease in his embrace and she soon fell asleep.

She woke up, the next morning, and found herself alone. She looked around and saw that she was in bed.
