I stood silent behind the witch as she closed the front door. Romeo had left with his brother and Beta back to the packhouse and entrusted her care and safety with me. I found it odd that she trusted me, despite only having been introduced to me an hour ago.

"Shall we return to the living room?" She asked, her tone polite, one of a stranger to another. 

However, her eyes gave her away. It expressed a mixture of emotions - intrigue, curiosity, and even respect. It was quite refreshing to find someone who didn't fear who I am, a prince from the Vampire Kingdom.
