I can tell you the exact moment my life began to fall apart. It was the moment I realized that being the "good girl" didn't make me the chosen one. Growing up as the Beta’s daughter, the pack saw it as a blessing. They looked at me with envious eyes, whispering about how I had won at life, living in the Alpha’s inner circle. The truth was far from what they had imagined, my life wasn't a fairytale.

My parents only favored my brother, their golden child, the future warrior who could do no wrong. I was merely a mistake, a girl whose only value was her ability to be married off as a useful alliance.

My marriage to Daven was meant to be the pinnacle of my life, but three years later, it felt like a cage.

You are so useless you can't even capture a mans heart, don't you dare come back, if he divorce you, my parents constantly reminded me of my failure of not being able to bear an heir, but that was nothing compared to the elders' daily taunting, they all blamed me for not yet providing Daven with an heir.

The truth was, we never consummated our marriage. Daven never saw me as his wife, he saw me as a mistake he was forced to tolerate.

I was hoping for everything to change tonight at our pack's annual ballroom summit. I had spent months in advance dieting and working out at the gym daily just to be able to fit into a smaller dress and capture Daven's attention, fantasizing how Daven would hold me tight to his chest, telling me how perfect I looked and how his gaze would never leave mine. I was so gullible back then.

I was hanging onto that thought until tonight's ball.

As we walked into the ballroom, Daven kept a deliberate distance, his body far away from mine. I moved closer, my hands resting on his arms; he shoved my hands off, cleaning where my hands had been.

Embarrassed, I stopped by the buffet table, my stomach gnawing with hunger, when I caught a glimpse of a tray of chocolate-dipped strawberries and reached out, my fingers trembling as I lifted one toward my mouth.

Daven’s hand shot out, clamping around my wrist before the pastry could touch my lips, frowning.

"Kimberly, put it down now. Look at yourself. You will soon burst out of that dress."

"It's just one, Daven."

"That's what only a fat person would say. Aren't you ashamed,You are already this huge; what more do you want to eat."

"It... it's not like that. I haven't eaten all day," I mumbled, head down, as every eye in the room turned to me, pointing and whispering.

"Daven, please, people are watching."

"Oh, now you're ashamed, You never thought of that before you wanted to stuff yourself full," Daven sighed, rolling his eyes.

"You don't look like a Luna, Kimberly. You're so embarrassing," Daven frowned, walking away, leaving me all alone in the center, shaking.

He has always used the one thing he knows I am insecure about, which is my weight, to humiliate me every time we go out.

Janet linked her arm through mine, talking through the pounding music. "Kimberly, I told you before to dump his ass."

Janet was my best friend since childhood. She was one of those people who spoke their mind and openly pursued her goals; she was the kind of person who would kick your ass for staring for too long. She was known as "Miss No-Nonsense."

I realized later on in life that if only I had been as brave and confident in myself as her, I would have lived for me and not suffered so much.

"Hey, Kimberly, are you even listening," Janet waved frantically in front of me.

"I'm listening, Janet, I'm just..."

"Who do we have here? The barren, fat Luna."

Kate scoffed, swirling wine, as May followed behind, flashing a smug, triumphant grin as she gestured toward the massive, glittering diamond ring on her finger.

They both are Daven's newly wedded wives, chosen by the pack elders to bear Daven an heir. Ever since then, they had made it their life mission to humiliate me every chance they get.

"Did a cat cut your tongue, sweetie, You look like you’re about to cry. It’s pathetic, really," May scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"What the hell, Kimberly, Why are you letting them walk over you like that," Janet muttered, lunging her hands forward, sending May tumbling down onto the buffet table.

"How dare you, I will fight you, Janet," May stumbled up, hair all messed up with cream, lunging forward at Janet, enraged, landing all back on her ass as Janet dodged.

"Ha, Ha," May began hitting her legs against the floor while shaking her head and pointing directly at Janet. "I will fight you today. Ha."

"What's going on here," Daven frowned. "Help her up," he gestured to one of the guards.

Kate rushed over, locking her hands with Daven's.

"Alpha, Kimberly and her friend have gone crazy. They hurt May 'cause she tried comforting the Luna, not to be mad at you, that you meant well. Kimberly was enraged and lunged at May with her friend, saying we're trying to steal you from her.

Alpha, please help us get justice." She stumbled on the ground, weeping.

"You evil woman, who gave you the right to lay your hands on them," Daven grabbed my neck, frowning.

"It's not like that. I did nothing," I mumbled, struggling as his grip tightened.

"We are sorry, Luna, if we threaten your position. We will leave, we won't compete with you anymore for the Alpha," May and Kate scoffed, tears rolling down their cheeks.

"You're going nowhere she will be the one leaving." Daven's grasp became even tighter, choking me as I gasped for air.

"Please, let go. I... can't breathe."

"You don't deserve to be my Luna. Leave," Daven let go of his grasp, shoving me onto the floor.

Elena sniffed, wiping her wet face with the sleeve of her dress."Because of her, my entire life is falling apart, my brother is exiling me, he is sending me away to live in another region all by myself just because I tried to secure my own future here, Kimberly stole everything from me, she stole my life and my happiness.""I did not steal anything from you, Elena," I said, gently stepping out from b

"Wake up, sleepyhead," Janet said, shaking my shoulder gently.I groaned, pulling the blanket higher over my head, but the sweet scent of vanilla and sugar hit my nose, making me pause."What is that smell?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes."Just get out of bed and see for yourself," Janet mumbled, grabbing my hand and pulling me off the mattress.I stepped out into the main living space of our suite and froze in shock. The entire room was magically decorated with glowing fairy lights, sparkling ribbons, and colorful banners draped across the walls.Standing right in the middle of the room were Alaric and a large group of Obsidian pack members, holding a magnificent, glowing birthday cake covered in candles."Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Kimberly, happy birthday to you, everyone sang in unison."I stood there completely paralyzed, my hands flying up to cover my mouth as tears spilled over my cheeks."Oh my goodness," I muttered, shaking my

Why are you sad? Aren't you happy that we left that terrible place behind?"I looked down at the floor, fighting bac

Kate hurried back into the living room, holding a stack of papers and slamming them down on the table right in front of Daven."Here are the papers, Alpha," Kate said, flashing a wide grin as she stepped back beside May."I am going to ask you one more time before I sign my name, are you completely sure you want a divorce? Because once I put my signature on this document, there is no going back.""I am completely sure, bring the ink right now," I said, leaning forward."There is no turning back, and I am not going to take you back no matter how much you beg and plead at my door," Daven said, acting as if he held all the power in the world."I said I am not coming back, stop this delusion of yours," I snapped, reaching across the table and grabbing the ink pad.I pressed my thumb firmly into the ink and stamped my print directly onto the signature line, then pushed the papers back toward him."I am done, it is your turn to sign."Daven picked up the pen, hovering it over the paper whi
