LOGIN"Alpha, can't you see they're both setting the Luna up" Janet muttered.
"I know my wife, Janet. She is always playing the victim card. I am tired of it," Daven mumbled, rolling his eyes.
"Daven, please, I didn't do anything. Why can't you believe me," I muttered, tears streaming down my cheeks.
"Because you are a liar, Kimberly," he scoffed, rolling his eyes. "And I am divorcing you. I don't need a Luna that always lies."
Divorce. The word kept repeating in my head. My mind flashed back to my parents' words, If the Alpha divorces you, do not bother coming back at all. We don't want a stain on our name.
I had nowhere to go. My parents had already shut the door on me. I didn't want to drag Janet into this too; she had enough of her own battles to fight. Divorce wasn't an option. I stumbled across the floor, clutching Daven's leg. "Please, no divorce. Please, Daven, I'm begging you."
"Alpha, why don't you forgive her, I know she has hurt me and May, but I can't see her suffer. Forgive her," Kate mumbled, grinning.
"See how kind Kate is, Unlike you, she is very sensible and honest."
"It's what I'm supposed to do, Alpha. She is the Luna, anyways. You can't divorce her for us concubines; what will people say about the Alpha?"
"Thanks for looking out for me, Kate. You and May have always cared about me, unlike Kimberly who is set on ruining me."
I knew whatever I said now, Daven wouldn't believe me because Kate and May had him wrapped around their arms. I just needed to plead with him for now and endure. I believed he would finally see I truly loved him soon enough.
"Just forgive her, Alpha. I believe the Luna didn't mean it; she just loves you too much," May mumbled, grinning.
"Kimberly, don't think I'll let you go just because Kate and May pleaded for you. I will still punish you, but no divorce."
"Alpha, this is unfair! Why is the Luna being punished for doing nothing while the two of them stay unpunished," Janet scoffed.
"You don't get to question my actions, Janet. I am the Alpha; my words are law," Daven muttered.
"Any man who favors his concubine over his wife does not deserve to be a husband. Kimberly, divorce him, he doesn't deserve you; you deserve way better than him."
Janet grabbed my hands, pulling me up. "Let's go."
"Janet, sorry, I can't. You won't understand," I mumbled as tears streamed down my face.
I didn't want to put Janet in any trouble. I knew Daven; he was arrogant and hated it when someone challenged his authority. I didn't want him to harm Janet.
"Kimberly, please, let's go. He isn't worth it."
"Go away, Janet. I don't want to leave," I muttered, pulling my arms away from hers.
"I accept any punishment," I mumbled, my knees falling downward to Daven's feet.
"You're lucky you are sensible. Bring the punishment tools," he gestured to one of his guards.
For the past three years, whenever I went against Daven, he used punishment tools on me. From scorching hot metal pressed on my skin to whips, he always said, "You're too fat; you probably don't feel any pain."
"It's not like I want to be unfair, but you don't listen. Lay down, Kimberly," Daven scoffed.
I lay down obediently, as the smell of burning flesh filled the room every time the hot rod pressed down on my bare skin.
"Stop hurting her" Janet rushed into the room, falling on her knees beside me, tears streaming down her face.
"Alpha, please, let go of her. I am begging you to punish me in her place, just please," Janet mumbled.
"Take her away and continue," Daven ordered. As the guards dragged Janet out, she screamed, "Let me go, Kimberly, I'm coming to save you!" The door slammed shut behind Janet as her voice faded.
Daven picked up the glowing red rod and walked towards me. As he raised his hands, I closed my eyes, biting down on my lips. I was afraid of letting out a sound. Whenever I got punished, Daven had one rule, no making any sound. Any sound heard would get me more punishment, so I learned to be quiet.
"You should have been a better wife, Kimberly," Daven muttered, his voice calm.
"You should have been more sensible like Kate and May."
Then, he pressed the metal down. The scorching heat of the metal made my body shake. My fingers clutched the edge of the table, forcing myself not to make a sound as he kept pressing it again, and again, and again.
"See," Kate muttered. She sounded like she was smiling. "It’s only hurting because you're fighting it, sweetie. Just be quiet and let it happen."
My vision started to blur, the bright lights turning into spinning white dots. My chest hurt so much it felt like my ribs were snapping. I thought of my parents. I thought of the way they looked at me with such cold eyes. I thought of the girl I used to be, who believed that love could fix everything and that Daven would come back to his senses and love me someday.
I was wrong. Love was just a trick. and for Daven, I didn't know if he would ever look at me with love.
"Daven... my head hurts. Help me."
"Who are you pretending for," Daven kicked me one last time in the ribs, a hard, sharp blow that took away my last breath.
"Get her out of my sight. I don't want to see her face, it disgusts me."
I felt the guards grab my arms again, dragging me across the floor. My head bumped against the chairs, but I couldn't feel it anymore. The pain had moved to a place where I couldn't reach it.
The last thing I heard was the sound of the ballroom music, loud and happy, as if nothing at all had happened. As my eyes finally closed, everything went black.
Janet stepped back to let me take my place at the altar.Alaric stood waiting for me, his shoulders trembling slightly as he stared down at me with tears streaming down his cheeks."I cannot believe you are finally going to be my Luna," Alaric said, taking my hands in his."Kimberly, from the very first day I walked into that packhouse and saw you surviving a world that tried to crush your spirit, my soul recognized you, you are my peace, my home, and my strength, and i promise to stand beside you through every storm, to cherish your heart, and to love you fiercely in this life and a million lifetimes after this one, you are my only mate, and my forever Luna.""I love you, Alaric," I said, a tear streaming down my cheek."In every lifetime, I choose you Kimberly."The pack elder, Elder Thomas, stepped forward, opening the ceremonial wolf-love book."Do you, Alpha Alaric, take Lady Kimberly as your Luna and your only mate for life?" Elder Thomas asked, looking straight at him."I do, i
The door pushed open, as janet walked in carrying a silver tray with my silver hair ornaments, stopping dead in her tracks the moment she looked at me."Oh, Kimberly," Janet mumbled, dropping the tray onto the side table and clapping both hands over her mouth as tears instantly flooded her cheeks."Look at you, you look so breathtaking.""Do not start crying yet, Janet, you are going to ruin my makeup before the ceremony even begins," I mumbled, while blinking rapidly to keep my own tears from spilling over."I am sorry, girl, I just cannot help it," Janet sniffed, walking over and gently smoothing out the intricate silver embroidery along the sleeves of my robe."I am just sitting here thinking about everything we endured, exactly one month ago we were trapped in that miserable packhouse, sleeping with our bags packed and surviving on hope, and now you are marrying the man of your dreams.""You stayed with me through every single dark day," I said, turning around to face her fully."
Elena standing in the doorway, tears streaming down her cheeks."What makes her so special?" Elena cried out, her voice cracking as she pointed a shaking finger straight at me."Why is it always her? Alaric will not even look in my direction, he ignores every single thing I do, yet he is standing there ready to marry a divorced woman instead of me?"Alaric stepped in front of me immediately, putting himself between Elena and me."Elena, you need to leave right now," Alaric muttered."You have no right to come barging into Kimberly's suite and speak to her like that.""Why should I leave?" Elena sniffed, wiping her wet face with the sleeve of her dress."Because of her, my entire life is falling apart, my brother is exiling me, he is sending me away to live in another region all by myself just because I tried to secure my own future here, Kimberly stole everything from me, she stole my life and my happiness.""I did not steal anything from you, Elena," I said, gently stepping out from b
"Wake up, sleepyhead," Janet said, shaking my shoulder gently.I groaned, pulling the blanket higher over my head, but the sweet scent of vanilla and sugar hit my nose, making me pause."What is that smell?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes."Just get out of bed and see for yourself," Janet mumbled, grabbing my hand and pulling me off the mattress.I stepped out into the main living space of our suite and froze in shock. The entire room was magically decorated with glowing fairy lights, sparkling ribbons, and colorful banners draped across the walls.Standing right in the middle of the room were Alaric and a large group of Obsidian pack members, holding a magnificent, glowing birthday cake covered in candles."Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Kimberly, happy birthday to you, everyone sang in unison."I stood there completely paralyzed, my hands flying up to cover my mouth as tears spilled over my cheeks."Oh my goodness," I muttered, shaking my
Alaric rushed forward the moment the door swung open, wrapping his arms around me in a tight embrace before pulling back to look at me in disbelief."Oh my goodness, I did not expect to see you here this soon," Alaric mumbled, keeping his hands resting gently on my shoulders as he smiled."Why did you not write to me so I could come pick you and Janet up?""It is okay, we just did not want to disturb you.""She finally divorced that scum," Janet announced proudly, stepping up beside me and tossing her bags onto the floor."I am so happy for you, Kimberly," Alaric said, stepping forward to pull Janet into a quick hug as well before turning his full attention back to me."You are finally free from that monster."Janet crossed her arms, tilting her head as she looked closely at me."Wait a minute, Kimberly," Janet said, her expression shifting into concern."What is wrong? Why are you sad? Aren't you happy that we left that terrible place behind?"I looked down at the floor, fighting bac
Kate hurried back into the living room, holding a stack of papers and slamming them down on the table right in front of Daven."Here are the papers, Alpha," Kate said, flashing a wide grin as she stepped back beside May."I am going to ask you one more time before I sign my name, are you completely sure you want a divorce? Because once I put my signature on this document, there is no going back.""I am completely sure, bring the ink right now," I said, leaning forward."There is no turning back, and I am not going to take you back no matter how much you beg and plead at my door," Daven said, acting as if he held all the power in the world."I said I am not coming back, stop this delusion of yours," I snapped, reaching across the table and grabbing the ink pad.I pressed my thumb firmly into the ink and stamped my print directly onto the signature line, then pushed the papers back toward him."I am done, it is your turn to sign."Daven picked up the pen, hovering it over the paper whi
