The air in the High Council Chamber was suffocatingly tense as dawn broke over the frost-coated peaks. Sunlight filtered through the stained-glass windows, casting sharp red and violet shadows across the long polished oak table.

I sat at the head of the table in the basalt throne of the Crescent Kings, the Sovereign's Edge resting sheathed across my lap. To my right sat Prince Nikolai, his arms crossed over his chest, his golden eyes locked in an unyielding stare onto the western delegation. Standing along the perimeter of the hall were Captain Torin and eight of our battle-tested rogue veterans.

Opposite us, Chancellor Malakai adjusted his blue velvet tunic with practiced composure, while Lady Lyra stood just behind his shoulder, her expression stoic and unreadable. Behind them stood twelve fully armored Western guards, their hands resting heavy on the pommels of their broadswords.

"Queen Elora," Malakai began, his voice echoing smoothly off the stone walls. "We have reviewed our position overnight. The Western Sun Alliance remains firm. To ensure stability across the Northern Ridge, we require the immediate ratification of the Joint Governance Charter."

He slid a heavy parchment scroll across the table toward me.

Without touching the scroll, I glanced down at the visible terms written in sharp black ink: Immediate handover of the star-iron mines to Western oversight, the demilitarization of rogue garrisons, and the installation of four Western lords on the Northern High Council.

"This isn't a trade proposal, Chancellor," I said, my voice deadpan and icy. "This is an unconditional demand for surrender."

"It is a necessity, Your Grace," Malakai replied, a faint, condescending smile playing at the corners of his lips. "You are an unbonded former maid leading a council of former outlaws. You lack the political lineage or the military infrastructure to maintain order against the old pack lords. Without our backing, your realm will fall into chaos within months."

Nikolai leaned forward slowly, a low growl vibrating deep within his chest. "We broke Alpha Lucas's army, smashed the Sunken Fang, and sealed the Crimson Cult back into the void. If you think we cannot handle a few bitter pack lords, Chancellor, you are terribly mistaken."

"You sealed the cult, yes," Malakai said softly. Then, his eyes gleamed with a sudden, sinister light. "But you left your flanks completely unguarded."

Before Nikolai could react, Malakai snapped his fingers twice.

The heavy iron doors at the rear of the council chamber slammed shut with a deafening bang. From the hidden alcoves behind the tapestries, six black-clad mercenaries stepped out, their blades drawn and dripping with a glowing, pale-green substance—wolfsbane poison. At the same time, the twelve Western guards surrounding the table drew their broadswords in unison, forming a ring of steel around the council table.

Captain Torin and our rogue guards drew their weapons instantly, but the mercenaries held crossbows loaded with wolfsbane-tipped bolts pointed directly at their chests.

"Traitor," Nikolai snarled, his golden aura erupting instantly in a furious shockwave that rattled the glass windows. He reached for his twin daggers, but Malakai held up a small, silver detonation crystal glowing with dark unstable magic.

"Do not move, Prince Nikolai!" Malakai shouted, his calm demeanor shattering into triumphant fanaticism. "This crystal is linked to dark-fire charges placed along the foundation pillars of your star-iron storage vaults below! One push of my will, and half this citadel collapses into rubble!"

Lady Lyra stepped forward, a triumphant smirk sweeping across her face as she looked down at me. "Did you truly think my father came here to beg for trade, Elora? The Western Sun Alliance does not negotiate with rogues. You will sign the charter giving us total control of the mines, or we will bury you and your council beneath this mountain."

The chamber fell dead silent, save for the crackle of the dark crystal in Malakai’s hand and the tense breathing of the guards.

I looked at the silver crystal, then at Malakai's arrogant smile, and finally at Lyra. Slowly, deliberate calmly, I stood up from the basalt throne.

"You brought wolfsbane, dark-fire charges, and armed mercenaries into my home," I said, my voice unnaturally quiet, carrying a cold, vibrating resonance that made the mercenaries' crossbows tremble. "You believed that because I was once a maid, I would flinch when threatened with violence."

I rested my hand on the pommel of the Sovereign's Edge.

"You forgot the most important rule of the Crescent Realm, Chancellor," I whispered.

The crimson mark on my shoulder burst into a blinding, celestial flame beneath my tunic. The violet light flared outward with such immense pressure that the wolfsbane poison on the mercenaries' blades began to hiss and evaporate into harmless steam.

"In this hall," I declared, drawing the glowing star-iron blade in a swift, deafening sweep, "I am the only authority!"

The platinum-gold light radiating from our fused Eclipse-Breaker mark filled the vast abyssal cavern with the warmth of a thousand suns.High Monarch Malakor-Prime tore off his cracked silver mask, revealing a gaunt, ancient face with hollow eyes that burned with pitch-black void-fire. "Blasphemers!" he shrieked, his voice rattling the stone vault. "The void-vault cannot be denied by mortal flesh!"He raised his heavy void-staff, channeling the full dark reservoir of the vortex into a roaring beam of black energy directed straight at our hearts.Nikolai and I moved in absolute, synchronized harmony. We did not need words or signaled commands; our dual-soul bond made two minds think as one.I stepped forward, raising the Sovereign's Edge. The white-hot solar blade absorbed the incoming void-beam on contact, refracting the dark magic into harmless sprays of light. At the same second, Nikolai vaulted off a fallen stone pillar, his twin daggers glowing with blazing platinum flames as he s

The pain was a suffocating, liquid fire that tore through my lungs and clawed at my chest.Inside the void-cage, my vision flickered between blinding violet light and pitch-black void. The dark bars hummed as they drank greedily from my Crescent mark, funneling my ancestral bloodline magic directly into the focal crystal at the base of the Primordial Vault. Across the chamber, the massive star-iron archway groaned, its ancient stone gears grinding as the portal gates crept wider, revealing a swirling vortex of deep abyssal purple."Elora!" Nikolai’s voice cut through the roaring static in my ears.I forced my eyes open. Nikolai was pushing himself up from the wet cavern floor, his hands raw and bloodied from the cage’s magical backlash. His dark golden eyes locked onto mine, filled with a desperate, unyielding terror that I had never seen in him before—not in the Blackwood Forest, and not at the Glacial Citadel."Stay... back..." I gasped, the words tearing at my throat as another vio

The tide roared through the subterranean sea-caves beneath Oakhaven, sending salty spray cascading over ancient, barnacle-encrusted stone arches. Deep below the harbor line, the air grew heavy with the suffocating stench of decayed seaweed, wet granite, and crackling dark magic.Nikolai led our strike team down the narrow, slick stone steps, his twin daggers emitting a low golden glow that cut through the oppressive subterranean gloom. Captain Torin and two Frostborn archers covered our rear, their boots making quiet, measured splashes in the rising ankle-deep water."These ruins predate the Crescent Citadel," Nikolai murmured, halting near an ancient stone threshold carved with spiral oceanic glyphs. "The stonework isn't Northern. It matches the relief carvings from the forgotten continent.""The First Sovereign didn't just build a realm above," I said, running my hand along the damp glyphs. The royal mark on my collarbone throbbed in rhythm with the crashing sea waves outside, drawi

The horn blast echoing from the fog was like the scream of an ancient iron beast. Before the sound could die away, the dark sea exploded into motion. Giant black-sailed warships, their hulls forged from jagged, light-absorbing iron, sheared through the coastal mist. From the decks of the lead dreadnought, heavy catapults creaked and snapped, unleashing a volley of glowing obsidian boulders into the sleeping port city. The projectiles struck the stone harbor walls with catastrophic force. Where the stones landed, there were no normal explosions of fire or splintered masonry. Instead, waves of crackling black void-fire erupted on impact, instantly vaporizing stone quays and turning wooden warehouses into pillars of dark ash."Fall back to the upper stone ramparts!" Captain Torin roared to the fleeing townspeople, drawing his broadsword. "Rogue archers, take the high towers!""Torin, use the Frostborn ice-bows on those catapults!" Nikolai commanded, his voice slicing cleanly through the

The peace that had settled over the Crescent Realm for three quiet years shattered not with a roar, but with a silent, terrifying disappearance.I sat at the head of the long table in the high council chamber of the Crescent Citadel, reviewing land grant charters for the unified southern territories. Sunlight bathed the polished oak, illuminating stacks of signed treaties and harvest reports. Nikolai stood by the arched window bay, softly whittling a piece of mountain cedar, his relaxed posture reflecting the quiet prosperity we had fought so hard to secure. That tranquil morning ended the moment Captain Torin entered without knocking. His face was unusually pale, his mouth set in a grim, rigid line. His tailored leather armor was encrusted with dry salt spray from a hard, uninterrupted three-day ride from the eastern coast."My Queen," Torin said, his heavy boots echoing against the flagstones as he laid a scorched leather messenger cylinder onto the map table. "The eastern watchtowe

The grand cathedral hall was dead silent as Nikolai and I descended the spiral staircase back into the sanctuary. The smoke had cleared completely, filtered away by the remnants of my celestial dome. The foreign delegates, lords, and rogue commanders stood in their rows, their eyes wide with awe as they looked upon us. Not a single assassin remained standing; Captain Torin’s elite trackers had secured every exit, disarming the few Syndicate mercenaries who had survived the blast of light. At the altar, Elder Vance stood waiting. Though his hands still trembled slightly from the chaos, his expression was filled with profound relief and unyielding reverence. He picked up the star-iron crown from the velvet cushion—its stones now purged of Malakor's dark poison, gleaming with pure, radiant moonfire.I stepped onto the marble dais, turning to face the vast assembly of people from across every corner of the continent.Nikolai unbuckled his twin daggers, laying them crosswise at the foot of
