Alpha Dimitri’s POV

The thought was ridiculous.

Scarlett had been sick. That was all. People became ill every day without pregnancy having anything to do with it, and one similarity between her and Darla meant nothing.

I finished fastening my watch and reached for my coffee, determined to leave the thought where it belonged.

“How is Darla coping with the pregnancy?” I asked.

Apparently, I wasn't doing a very good job of leaving it alone.

Vivienne glanced at me before returning to the clean line

Raven / Scarlett’s POVHearing my real name from his mouth sent a jolt of fear through me, but I forced myself not to show it.“My name is Scarlett Bane,” I said. “You’re mistaken.”Beta Petru didn’t argue. He simply watched me for a moment, far too certain for my denial to mean anything.“Until recently, I knew you were hiding something,” Beta Petru said. “Tomas knew you were connected to Raven Moonshadow. What neither of us understood was why every memory he had of you seemed to lead back to her.”My gaze shifted to Tomas.I remembered him standing outside my room, insisting that whenever he thought about Raven, he remembered me too.“He knew there was something wrong with the story you gave us,” Beta Petru continued. “So I helped him find out what it was.”“And what exactly do you think you found?”Beta Petru stepped closer.“That there were never two women. Tomas couldn’t understand why every memory he had of you led back to Raven Moonshadow, so I took him somewhere we could look

  • The Alpha’s Scarred Healer   Chapter 97: Meeting Raven

Raven / Scarlett’s POVI was already inside the treatment room when the door closed behind us.Tomas lay on the bed at the center of the room. The healers had already cleaned and dressed his wound, but inflammation still showed around the edges beneath the fresh bandages. His eyes remained mostly closed, though he stirred occasionally on the bed. Ms. Darkmoon stood near the foot of the bed with another healer beside her. Alpha Dimitri remained close to me, while Beta Petru stood a few steps away, watching Tomas. I wished I could say the same for myself.Of all the Ironclaw warriors who could have needed my gift, it had to be Tomas.I kept my hands at my sides and focused on the reason I was here. The sharp scent of antiseptic mixed with the familiar herbs used throughout the healers’ wing. Supplies had already been arranged beside the bed, ready for me to use.Tomas opened his eyes and looked directly at me.His gaze lingered on my face for several seconds. There was something searc

Alpha Dimitri’s POV“Yes,” Scarlett answered quietly. My jaw tightened as I watched her. “Does he know you’re pregnant?” I asked.“No,” she replied, her hands still resting protectively over her stomach.“And if the two of you ever meet again, do you intend to tell him?” I asked. “Never,” Scarlett replied immediately. My hands curled into fists at my sides. I wanted to know exactly what kind of marriage she had escaped from, what that man had done to make her so determined to keep his own child from him.Scarlett had told me pieces of her past, but I was beginning to suspect she had only given me the parts she considered easier to hear. If those were the better parts, I wasn’t sure I wanted to imagine what she had kept to herself.“What happens if he finds out?” I asked.Scarlett’s fingers tightened around the fabric covering her stomach. She lowered her gaze before answering.“He’ll come for my child,” she muttered. My jaw clenched. “And he believes he has the right to take the chil

Raven / Scarlett’s POVThe moment the question left his mouth, my hand flew to my stomach.I backed away from him, taking one step and then another. My eyes darted toward the trees and the path we had taken to reach the lake. I was already searching for the quickest way out, even though I knew how useless running would be.There was no chance I could outrun an Alpha, especially without a wolf and with more than myself to protect now. None of that would stop me from trying. If Alpha Dimitri tried to keep me here, I would run, and if he came anywhere near my child, I would fight him with everything I had. He took a step toward me.I immediately backed away again. “Stay there,” I warned.I hadn't expected him to listen, but Alpha Dimitri stopped immediately. His hands stayed at his sides as he watched me, making no attempt to close the distance I had put between us.“Who else knows?” I demanded. His brows pulled together slightly.I didn't care how he had figured it out or what he thou

  • The Alpha’s Scarred Healer   Chapter 94: Caught

Raven / Scarlett’s POVI woke up alone.Alpha Dimitri's side of the bed was empty. I pushed myself upright and glanced toward the connecting door. He had probably left for morning training, which was hardly unusual, but after last night, I couldn't help but wonder whether he'd been in a hurry to leave.Hopefully not.We were supposed to visit the lake after training, and I had been looking forward to it far more than I intended to admit.I got out of bed and crossed to the wardrobe. While dressing, I pulled on one of my usual blouses and caught sight of myself in the mirror. The fabric sat differently than it had a few weeks ago.My stomach tightened as I turned sideways and studied my reflection. The change was small, but it was enough to make me pull the blouse off and choose one that hung more loosely around my middle.Better.The morning passed quickly in the healing quarters. Ms. Darkmoon seemed pleased that I had actually followed her instructions and rested, while I kept busy w

Her husband might disagree, though. Yesterday she sent the poor man halfway across the territory looking for pickled onions.”I lowered my cup. “Pickled onions?”Vivienne nodded as she folded another shirt. “Pregnancy cravings. Everything has to be sour lately, and if it isn't sour, she wants enough salt on it to ruin the meal for everyone else.”My fingers tightened around the cup.Pickled vegetables.Scarlett sitting against the pillows the night before, addi
