Nyxara POV

The wolf’s jaws were inches from my neck when the world stopped.

I didn’t die. I didn’t feel the crunch of bone. Instead, a strange heat exploded from my chest, pushing outward in a golden wave. The Blackmoor scout, a massive, grey beast who had served Draven for years, was thrown backward as if hit by a truck. He slammed into a tree and slumped to the ground, unconscious.

I gasped, clutching my stomach. My skin felt like it was on fire, but in a way that made me feel alive, not hurt.

"I told you," a deep voice rumbled.

I spun around. The stranger with the ash-silver hair was still there, leaning against a rock as if he hadn't just watched a miracle. He looked bored, but his molten gold eyes tracked every move I made.

"What did you do to him?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"I didn't do anything, Nyxara," he said, stepping into the moonlight. "You did."

"I'm an omega," I whispered, shaking my head. "Omegas don't have power like that. We don't have shields. We don't have... whatever that was."

"Is that what they told you?" He walked toward me. He was so tall that he blocked out the moon. His presence was heavy, like the air before a lightning strike. "The Blackmoor Pack spent twenty years making you feel small so you wouldn't realize how big you actually are."

I looked down at my hands. They were glowing faintly. "Who are you?"

"My name is Riven Ashenfell."

I froze. Everyone knew that name. Riven Ashenfell was the "Traitor King." The stories said he had burned his own lands to the ground rather than follow the Alpha Council. He was a monster. A ghost.

"You're an exile," I said, my heart racing for a new reason.

"And so are you," Riven countered. He reached out, his large hand cupping my jaw. His skin was burning hot. "Draven Blackmoor is a fool. He threw away a diamond because he thought it was glass. But his loss is my gain."

I should have been afraid. He was a dangerous stranger in the middle of the dark woods. But when he touched me, the agonizing pain of the rejected mate bond finally went silent. It was replaced by a humming vibration that started at my toes and ended at my heart.

"I have nowhere to go," I confessed. The reality of my situation finally hit me. "They'll keep hunting me. Draven won't let me live with his secret shame."

Riven’s eyes darkened. "He won't touch you. Not while you're with me."

"Why would you help me? You don't even know me."

Riven leaned down, his breath warm against my ear. "I know enough. I know your blood smells like ancient magic. And I know that right now, you need a place to hide."

He was right. I was exhausted, bleeding, and alone. I looked at the unconscious wolf on the ground and then back at Riven. I made a choice.

"Take me with you," I said.

Riven POV

I watched the woman sleep in the back of my rugged truck. Nyxara Vale was a mess of bruises and broken dreams, yet even in her sleep, she gripped a small dagger she’d scavenged. She was a fighter.

She had no idea what she was. She thought she was a low-ranking wolf, but her scent told a different story. It was the scent of the True Luna line, a bloodline the Alphas had tried to wipe out centuries ago.

And then there was the other scent.

I looked at her stomach through the thin fabric of her dress. The spark of life inside her was faint, but I could feel it. Twins.

They weren't Draven's.

The moment I had touched her in the woods, my own dormant wolf had roared to life. The fated bond she thought she lost with Draven hadn't just broken; it had been overwritten. The Moon didn't just give her a second chance. She gave her a weapon.

I drove deeper into the rough, unclaimed lands where the Alphas feared to tread. I would keep her safe. I would teach her to use that golden fire in her veins. And when the time was right, we would show the Blackmoor Pack exactly what happens when you kick a queen into the dirt.

Nyxara POV

I woke up three weeks later in a small, hidden cabin tucked between the jagged cliffs of the Ashenlands.

Riven was sitting at a wooden table, cleaning a rifle. He looked up as I stumbled out of the bedroom, my hand instinctively going to my belly. The morning sickness had started a few days ago, and I couldn't hide it anymore.

"You're awake," he said. "Eat. You're eating for three now."

I stopped in my tracks. "You know?"

"I'm an Alpha, Nyxara. I can hear their heartbeats." He set the rifle down. "Does Draven know?"

"No," I said fiercely. "And he never will. He rejected me. He rejected them. They are mine. Only mine."

Riven stood up and walked over to me. He looked at my stomach, then back at my eyes. "They are the heirs to a throne that doesn't exist yet. The Alpha Council will kill them if they find out."

"Then I'll kill the Council first," I snapped.

Riven laughed, a deep, rich sound. "Spoken like a true Luna. But we have a problem."

"What problem?"

He held up a crumpled piece of paper, a scouting report. "Draven isn't just hunting you anymore. He's declared war on the unclaimed lands. He's coming here, Nyxara. He says he wants his 'property' back."

My blood ran cold. He didn't want me. He wanted to finish what he started.

Suddenly, the front door of the cabin exploded inward.

I screamed as a massive black wolf, larger than any I had ever seen, leaped through the debris. It wasn't a scout. It was Draven.

His ice-blue eyes landed on me, then shifted down to my slightly rounded belly. A low, thunderous growl ripped from his throat that shook the very foundations of the house.

"Nyxara," a voice boomed, vibrating through the bond I thought was dead. "Who did this to you?"

Draven shifted back into his human form, naked and covered in rage, his eyes fixed on Riven. Before I could speak, Riven stepped in front of me, his own body shifting into a monstrous shape.

"She's not yours anymore, Draven," Riven roared. "And neither are the children."

The black smoke crawled across the grass like a thousand tiny spiders.I watched in horror as Sarah’s stone body stood frozen, her fingers still reaching for a life she had just lost. The smoke didn't care about her greed or her pregnancy. It only cared about turning warm blood into cold rock."Run, Nyxara!" Riven’s voice was a ragged cough. He was trying to crawl toward me, but his ash form was still broken from the Alliance’s chemicals.Draven stood behind the wall of smoke, his eyes wide and wild. He had lost his pack, his mate, and his dignity. Now, he was losing his mind. "If you won't be my Luna, you'll be my statue!" he shrieked. "I’ll keep you in my garden forever. You’ll never leave me again!"The smoke was inches from my boots. I c

The five Ancient Alphas didn't move like living wolves. They moved like statues come to life. Their white eyes stayed fixed on my stomach, their hunger so thick it felt like a heavy fog."Give us the heirs," the middle elder repeated. His voice inside my head felt like a hammer striking an anvil. "You are just a vessel, Nyxara. You do not have the right to keep what belongs to the world."Riven was trembling next to me. The wolfsbane was turning his veins black, but he refused to fall. He bared his teeth, a low, broken growl coming from his throat. "She is not a vessel. She is their mother. And I am their father."The elder wolf tilted his head. "A King of Ash and a broken Omega. You are nothing to the Council."They lunged all at once.

The ground didn't just crack; it vanished.A massive sinkhole opened beneath my feet, the soil turning into liquid mud. I screamed, reaching for Riven, but he was trapped under the glowing green net, his skin smoking from the poison."Riven!" I yelled as I slid into the darkness.I hit the bottom of the pit with a thud that rattled my teeth. It wasn't a natural cave. The walls were lined with cold, damp stones and carved with ancient symbols. Above me, the circle of moonlight was getting smaller.Lady Elena stepped to the edge of the pit, looking down at me. Gone was the soft, pampered woman I had served for years. Her eyes were yellow, glowing with a sickness that wasn't wolf-like. She held the crystal high, and it pulsed with a dark, oily light.

The silver arrow hung in the air, trembling against an invisible wall of violet light.Draven’s eyes went wide. He watched as the arrow, his "sure kill," snapped in half and fell into the mud. He looked at me, then at the glowing light around my stomach. He wasn't just angry anymore; he was terrified."What is this?" Draven screamed, his voice cracking. "What did that monster do to you?""He didn't do anything, Draven," I said. My voice sounded deeper, vibrating with a power that made the trees shiver. "He just stayed when you ran away. He protected what you tried to kill."Riven stepped out of the carriage behind me. His hands were still red and raw from the silver collar, but he didn't look weak. He looked like a king standing next to his queen. The hundred Ashen
