CHAPTER THREE

/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/

~03- Betas and Gammas~

^EMMA’S POINT OF VIEW^

I should have known. I should have known that Tiana never cared about the pack’s safety. I should have known that she was just as heartless as my parents who decided to throw me to the wolves. Tiana ran away two days before the wedding. She was busy going around with my mother, checking wedding gowns, and being congratulated by the pack members even though they did not who she was getting married to and why, or else they would have feared for her.

I was only told yesterday that I would be getting married today. Obviously, Kelvin had something to do with it.

I stared at my father, hoping he would put up a fight since everything that happened so quickly but he did. He watched the way Kelvin dragged me out of the hall and had me enter his car. He went back inside.

A tear slid down my face as I palmed my face. I hurriedly wiped it off and I lifted my head. Immediately, I caught sight of Marcus behind the hall before he ran away. I did not know how my hands moved but they did, I unlocked the car’s door and stepped out.

I followed the direction he ran towards and finally saw him standing on the cliff that marked the end of my father’s pack.

“Marcus!” I cried out, worry itching my face as I watched him. If he takes a step, he will fall and... Die.

“Stop! Stop pretending like you cared for me! I told you everything about me and made myself vulnerable. I thought what we had was real but you lied to me!” He yelled.

“Please just come forward. And I will explain.” I begged him.

He shook his head. “There is no need for you to explain. You should have told me from the beginning that you were going to get married instead of making me fall in love with you. We were supposed to be mates.” He snapped.

I had not been able to tell him about the wedding since it was all too sudden and when my father announced it to the pack members, I did not have the face to meet him.

“There was a reason behind it! I do not love him! Heck, I hate him with every core in me.” I yelled back for him to hear.

Angry tears slid down my face as I stared at Marcus.

“You should not scream about hating your husband publicly when you are on a land filled with werewolves.” A voice came from behind me. My spine stiffened at the deep and unexpected voice behind me. It was so close I could feel the rumble of his words against my back.

Ice slid through my veins as I stood, rooted to the spot.

How did he get here?

“I do not care. You used me. I should have known. Bye, Emmalyn. Wish you a happy married life.” He said and with that, he slipped off the cliff.

“Marcus!!!” I yelled out but Kelvin pulled me back.

“Except you want to join him,” He hissed.

I struggled against him and glared daggers at him with my reddened eyes. He did not seem unnerved by it.

“I want to join him.” I spat and turned to leave but what he did next shocked the living hell out of me.

Kelvin reached out and lifted me up on his shoulder. “What the hell are you doing?” I screamed, hitting his back repeatedly.

“Taking my bride to my pack before I am accused of killing her.”

I hissed. “Who would care? No one cares! Not the pack members who despite knowing I was marrying the devil or my father who gave me out to a beast!”

He did not say anything as he dumped me into the back seat and then settled next to me.

“I do not care about your past relationship or those who threw you to the beast, or those who do not care about you. You are my wife and you must behave accordingly. Remember what I said about manners.” He said, his cool and collected voice slid over me like ice and I found instantly feel it, that fear that his voice and presence commanded.

I fell back to the chair and stared outside through the window. My life was beginning to feel like hell.

Tiana, I will never forgive you for putting me through this hell. I promise you!

~~

I did not know for how long I slept but by the time we reached Kelvin’s pack, it was already dusk. We stepped out and I was expecting to be welcomed by several pack members but none was in sight. I looked around the pack. It was a nice cozy place.

I turned to Kelvin’s place but he had slammed the door already and began his walk into the pack house. I hurriedly left the door and ran to meet up with him. He spared me no glance though.

We finally reached an entrance and the door slid open. He stepped in first and I followed. The view I met again was not what I was expecting to see. I had initially thought I would meet an empty living room with a dark kind of vibe but what I was staring at was not what I expect from an Alpha who has been famous for being ruthless and cruel.

The men that they accompanied him the last time when he came to finally the wedding sat with food hanging off their mouths as they stared back at us.

The first one who I assumed is the Beta dropped his spoon and rose up. “Alpha.” He gave him a curt now and Kelvin arched a brow.

“Just because I did not allow you to come to my wedding, you decide to use my living room as your dining room?” He questioned them, darting his gaze between the two.

The one who was the Gamma rose to his feet and dusted his shirt. “As your Beta, he was the one who said you would not care and it is revenge that you refused to allow him to come for the wedding.” He said and turned to leave but in a swift motion, one that had me flinching, Kelvin stopped before the Gamma.

The Beta snorted and whistled. “Deal with him, Kelvin. I'm gone.” He said, walking past him but with a glare from Kelvin he paused.

“Are we in trouble, Denver?” He asked the Gamma.

“I think we are.” Denver winced.

“Three hours added to your training hours and working hours each,” Kelvin announced and walked away, leaving me alone.

What do I do now?

The Beta whose name I am yet to know grinned. “Hi, I am Steven.”

Steven.

I nodded my head slowly.

“You do not need to be scared, Luna-” He trailed off.

“Emmalyn.” I completed.

“Oh wow, such a beautiful name for a pretty Luna.” He smiled and I could feel the blush creeping into my cheeks.

Oh, why didn’t I get married to him instead?

A throat was cleared behind us. We all turned around. Kelvin stood, glaring at the other two behind me. “Don't you have work to do?”

“Work? Do we?” Steven asked, looking confused.

Kelvin dipped his hands into his pockets and inclined his head before arching his left brow.

“Hmm, yes! We have work to do.” Denver said. I turned around and watched him drag Steven who was struggling against him away.

I wanted to smile but with what happened today, I could not find it in me to smile.

Marcus is dead.

I married my sister’s fiancee.

I am now the Luna to a beast.

What else can go wrong with my life?

“The bedroom is the first place you will see as soon as you step in through the curtain,” Kelvin said before disappearing into a nearby door.

PART ONE~Ophelia's POV~Kelly moved away from me and went towards the door. I just stood there, expecting to see who it was that came here. Something in me was hoping that it would be HIM. Opening it, she moved back and Ryan peeped in with a cocky smile."Sorry but you left your purse." He said as he handed it over to me. I stared at him with scrutiny. He could have just called me back. Right? He looked at Kelly and I noticed her move uncomfortably on her feet. "Okay, you can leave now. Thank you anyway for the ride. I really appreciate." I said again with a feigned smile that I was not even sure it was there and he nodded his head at me before moving back. Kelly slammed the door shut and glared at me before going to sit down. Just as I was about to utter a word, a knock came again and I groaned out loud. What does he want?I walked towards the door with the aim to speak my mind to him but then I pushed the door open, "I am quite thirsty. I was thinking if you would welcome me insid

CHAPTER FOURTEEN /THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/ ^ EMMA’S POINT OF VIEW^ Second day of my cooking lessons with Yuna was fun as well. No dull moment at all. She moved swiftly like she belonged to the place. The way she smiled and placed things carefully fascinated me. My mother was never one to cook in the kitchen. She came from a long line of wealthy family and she was betrothed to my father, no wonder she cared no less if any of her daughters was given to a monster for the aim of protection. Reina, our maid, was the one who did all of the cooking and everything. While we, her daughters, were not needed anywhere. We went to school, thankfully my father was not against it. “Mix the beef and place it carefully in the pan.” Yuna instructed, turning to the other direction of the counter and I was left confused. How was I going to do this? I have never done it before. She seemed to have noticed I was not doing anything. She arched a brow at me. "You really have not done t

CHAPTER THIRTEEN/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/~13- As it should be^ KELVIN’S POINT OF VIEW^I hated people that are always late. I hated them with all my guts. Punctuality and consistency were the keys to working with me but obviously these Alphas cannot comprehend it. The meeting was said to be 1 PM prompt and this is 1:01 and no one is yet to be present except… Steven shifted the time earlier. I will hard a word or two with him when I get back to the pack but for now, let me deal with these Alphas who seem to care no less about their packs.Luckily, the door creaked open and I checked the time, 1:10 PM. Good. So early. Alpa Heil and his Beta walked in, both of them staring at me like I had grown horns.“Anything perhaps wrong with my features?” I asked.Alpha Heil laughed. “Of course not. It is just that-”“I held the my position as always being the most punctual Alpha, tight. Isn’t it?”“You see…”“Please take your seat. The one who called for the meeting is not even

CHAPTER TWELVE/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/~12- I Am No one’s Luna^ KELVIN’S POINT OF VIEW^I have never hit a woman. No matter what she did. No matter how she touched me without my permission. No matter what she said. I have always made sure I was not stained with that but now… She was the first. I recognized the pain that flashed through her eyes. The most unreal part was that my heart had skipped. My heart fucking skipped when she looked at me like that. Like I was the monster she hated to the core. Like she knew I could do any other thing than push her away like I did. Not like I wanted to. I was blinded by the rage. I could not even think straight.“Now you will have to rectify that, Kelvin.” Steven said through the mind link, directing a look at me.“Maybe if you just fuck off, I might be able to think straight.” I bit back. His lips pulled a quick smile that did not reach his eyes. “No, you need a pestering wall and I will be just that wall.”“I will crumble yo

CHAPTER ELEVEN/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/~11- In Silence And In Anger^ KELVIN’S POINT OF VIEW^Steven’s feet made a scraping noise as he entered the training ground. I began to pull off my shirt and undid my belt when I caught Emma’s scent. I threw her a look over my shoulder and from my hindsight, I watched her turn her back. Not like I cared if she saw anything.I pulled off my trousers and hung them properly before getting into my training attire. Steven was deliberately being slow and I hated it. The kind of anger that was boiling within me was slowly snapping the little rope of patience holding my sanity together.I waited. I did. Because I would have no mercy on him. He started this and he must have taste of the consequences. I had left work because I could not think, not to talk of working. After he was done, he faced me and tipped his chin.“Alpha Kelvin.” He acknowledged with a bow. A bow that said he would also be ruthless. He would not think I was his Alph

CHAPTER TEN/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/ ~10- Weaklings^ KELVIN’S POINT OF VIEW^“That was really cruel of you,” Steven said, entering the office. I knew I would hear the reprimand from my Beta the moment I left my ‘luna’ in the middle of a silenced hall. I did not want her depending on me for motivation because I was not one. I will never be one to her.“Don’t start.” I gritted out.“I will. I will fucking start Kelvin. I am your Beta and I am to make sure my Alpha is fully sane.” He said adamantly. I hissed out. “Steven, don't overstep your bounds.” “I am not. Kelvin, I am not. You left her there. Did you see the look on her face? She was helpless. Scared. Afraid that she was not accepted and-”“Was she accepted?” I rose to my feet. “The sooner she accepts the reality, the better for her, Steven. This time… I will not try. I will not even. Not even you or Yuna will make me do it. She is only a Luna in title, not mine.” I cut in, glaring at him.His shoulders slumpe
