Damian's POV

Her scent hit me before I even saw her wild jasmine and rain, the kind of smell that clung to memory. Even through the stench of mud and pine, it pulled me in like a magnet. My wolf was already restless, pacing beneath my skin, growling low in my chest.

I didn’t know how she got out. I did not care who helped her. I only knew one thing she was gone, and every second she was out there made my blood boil.

The car engine roared as I drove into the woods, headlights slicing through the fog. I could feel her trail faint, panicked, uneven. She was weak, starving, she wouldn’t last long out here.

And yet… she ran.

The thought made my hands clench around the steering wheel. After everything after I told the guards to treat her with respect, after I made sure she was fed she still chose to run from me.

When I finally saw her, collapsing on the road like a dying bird, the anger and fear hit at once. I stopped the car so fast that the tires screamed

She looked up, her eyes were pal

Arias POV“Bring her in.”“Make sure everyone stays.”“No one leaves this hall.”Those were the first words I heard as I stepped into the holding hall behind Damian. His voice was calm, firm, and cold. The kind of calm that made my stomach tighten because I knew what it meant he wasn’t angry anymore he was past that.I stayed a step behind him, my fingers clenched together. The hall was wide and bright, but the air felt heavy. Guards lined the walls, some of the council members stood on one side and the palace workers were gathered in a group. The wives were seated at the front, dressed neatly, their faces carefully blank.Damian didn’t look at any of them.“Ethan.” He said, without turning. “Make sure all the wives are present every single one and no palace worker leaves until this is done.”“Yes sir” Ethan replied and I swallowed hard. The wives’ eyes moved to me, some were curious, some were annoyed. Some looked almost pleased, like they were watching a play they already knew the

Damian's POV“Aria, stay close to me.”That was the first thing I said when she opened her eyes in the morning. She looked tired, her hair messy, her eyes still showing traces of yesterday’s fear. But she nodded and slipped out of the bed quietly.I hadn’t slept. I sat on the couch the entire night going through reports, tracking movements in the palace, checking the cameras from the hallways. I couldn’t rest knowing someone inside my own home had threatened her.Aria stepped beside me, holding her hands together. “Did you sleep at all?” She asked.“No.” I answered honestly. “And I’m not planning to until this ends.”She opened her mouth to argue, but I raised a hand. “You are not leaving my sight today.” I added. “You are moving with me everywhere.”“Damian-”“I’m not repeating myself, Aria.”She closed her mouth and nodded again quietly.Good.I stood, placed a hand on her lower back, and guided her out of the room as Ethan caught up to us.“Damian” Ethan greeted.“Good morning

Aria's POV“Damian… please don’t leave me here alone.” The words rushed out of my mouth before I could stop them. He had just opened the door, ready to meet Ethan, but the moment he stepped out of the room, panic filled my body again.I stood up from the bed too fast, my legs trembling beneath me.Damian turned immediately. “Aria, I am just going to talk to Ethan for a minute.”“I will follow you.” My voice shook. “I don’t want to stay here alone.”He paused, staring at me like he was measuring how frightened I really was. His eyes softened a little, and he gave a small nod. “Alright.” He said quietly. “Stay close to me.”I hurried to his side, almost walking into him because of how fast I moved. Damian didn’t complain. He simply placed a hand on my back and guided me through the hallway. As we stepped out, a few of the palace wives who were lingering near the corridor stopped talking. They all looked at me the same way like I didn’t belong here. Like I had no right to walk besid

Damian's POV“Ethan, where is the first file for the border extension?”“You signed it an hour ago.”“I did?”“Yes you barely looked up while you did.”“Bring it again, I want to review it.”“You are stressed.”“No, I am busy.”“You haven’t eaten.”“Ethan, stop talking.”He sighed but left the office anyway. I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my forehead. The conference had drained me more than I expected. Even after resting last night, my mind refused to settle. And Aria had something to do with that. My phone vibrated Aria.I answered immediately.“Why are you calling?” I asked.“I’m checking if you have eaten.”My lips twitched. “I was going to eat.”“You are lying.”“I am not lying.”“You sound tired.”“So do you.” I said quietly.“I’m fine.”“You don’t look fine.”She hesitated. “How do you know how I look?”“I remember your face this morning.”“Damian… are you doing okay?”A warmth spread through my chest. She had asked me if she cared enough to ask.“I am doing better.” I answ

Aria's POV“Damian, what are you doing here?”“You are taking too long.”“I just finished bathing.”“And you didn’t answer when I called.”“You called once.”“I still didn’t hear your voice.”I froze in the doorway, water still sliding down my skin, the towel wrapped around me feeling suddenly too small. Damian was standing by the bed, his arms were crossed and his eyes fixed on me with a seriousness that made my face warm.I adjusted the towel quickly, pulling the edge tighter across my chest. His jaw moved a little, like he was trying not to look but he was looking.“Stop staring.” I said quietly.“I am not staring.” He said. “I am checking if you are alright.”“That is staring.”He exhaled, long and slow. “Come here, Aria.”“No.”“Yes.”“Damian, I am not walking toward you in a towel.”“Fine.” He said. “Then stay there but you are wearing my shirt tonight.”I blinked. “Your what?”“My shirt.” He repeated. “Wear it to sleep.”I almost choked. “Damian, go and give your shirt to V

Damian's POV“Aria, look at me.”“No, just leave.”“I said look at me.”“I don’t want to talk to you, Damian.”I stepped closer before she could move away again. Her voice was shaking but she kept her chin up like she always did when she did not want me to see she was scared. I didn’t care. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her into me before she said another word.“Damian-”“Be quiet for a second.” I whispered against her hair.I held her tighter, her body was tense, her hands cold. I pressed my face into her neck and breathed her in, letting her scent calm the frustration and anger swirling through me. I didn’t let go for a long moment. I just held her because it was the only thing that made sense right now. When her shoulders finally relaxed a little, I pulled back slightly but kept my hands on her arms.“Who was threatening you?” I asked quietly. She hesitated, her eyes moved away from mine, and her hand shook when she reached for her phone. She unlocked it and placed it i
