LISA'S POV
The dim lighting of the park brings back memories of my most precious moments on earth. I reminisce about the midnight runs, the long strides my little wolf legs could as I tried to keep up with my parents. The dance of the moon goddess before we went for a hunt. I stop to look at my reflection on the water, my eyes had dulled. I could no longer feel the connection to my wolf. Despite my show of bravery, I knew the task that lay ahead was almost impossible to achieve. I was aiming to become the first expired wolf. I close my eyes, letting the wind blow my hair forward.
"Why do you like this place so much?" I hear Jonas sit beside me on the grass which was still damp.
"It's how I want my life to be, calm," I say, opening my eyes.
"Was that why you requested to come here?"
"Yes," I said with a rueful smile.
"You know that's hard to achieve, don't you?"
"A girl can only dream, Jonas. It'
LISA'S POV"What just happened to me, Jonas?" I ask with a tremor in my voice.Putting my fingers tenderly on the spot which has been burning up a few minutes ago. I braced myself for the pain but I felt nothing, it was as if that moment had been erased from history. My neck felt cool but the bite mark was still there. Although it had closed up. Was this how being expired felt? I hadn't noticed any visible change yet, I could still feel my wolf within me and that was a big bonus. It was as if being expired didn't require you to undergo any physical change. I had half expected to look every inch of my hundred and twenty-one years on earth. For now, being the first expired wolf felt like an incredible achievement for someone who had given up on life less than two days ago.He runs his hand through his hair as he watched me intently. "You did the impossible. You messed with the timeline and you bent fate. I guess the w
LISA'S POV"Klaus," Jonas grinds out, disdain evident in his voice. "Why are you here?"The name sends a shiver down my spine. I shook my head trying to wake up from my daydream. There was no way it could be him, maybe I had heard wrong.I could hear the metal door groaning as it widened. Sharp clicks sound against the floor as the visitors enter, his scent immediately wafting through the door where I hid. He was a powerful wolf, I could smell it from here."Jonas." The voice booms around the house. Cold. Calculating. Sinister. He was a dangerous man and not one to be messed with and it was evident in his voice."You know why I'm here. Only one thing could have brought me this low.""Will you answer my question or do you want me to throw you out of my house? You've got limited time here, Klaus.""You have always been impatient and hot-headed, even as a child."The wheels in my head were s
LISA'S POVI stare at the man as he raises his gun towards me. Someone brave would have shot the man the moment he came close but not me, I was a scared woman afraid of dying. I know I am a coward but I couldn't help it. I shrug off the thought of shifting into my wolf form, the man would empty his gun into me before I would lunge an attack.I laughed out nervously, a strained smile etched on my face as I tremble slightly. I pull out my hand from the hoodie and flash my gun into from of him much to his surprise."Please, move your gun away. I don't want any trouble." I felt my head getting dizzy, I would pass out any moment from now."Please I-" my words lodge in my throat as Jonas appears out of thin air and tackles the man to the ground. The man gun clatters along with him. I could hear the engine of a car revving behind me. Jonas digs his powerful jaws in
LISA'S POVI stare at him. "You want to help me?"He steps on the gas pedal again, zooming past everything in a blur. "To take down the society, yes."I continued to stare at him in a state of shock. I wasn't expecting that from him. I rack my brain trying to figure out why he had made that decision. Jonas- whatever his last name is was a man of mystery. I mentally rub my face. I watch him from the corner of my eyes, his jaw was set in a hard line. He wasn't messing with me."You know it's treason to go against the Council, right?" I know he knew that but I wanted to ascertain he knew what he was getting himself into. If he was willing to risk his life fighting my cause. He scoffs as he takes his eyes off the road for a moment. "Of course I know that, woman.""Are you going to ever stop making fun of me?"&nbs
LISA'S POVGroaning, I open my eyes. I had fallen asleep on the comforter, much to my surprise. I remember the events of yesterday and I shuddered at how close I was to death. There was no time to wait anymore, we had to strike while the iron was still hot but Jonas was waiting for the right time, there was no right time.I push myself off the comforter and stumble into the bathroom, I had forgotten to take my bath last night and my body was smelly. I was glad Jonas wasn't here, he would have surely made a crude remark.I couldn't help but think about who Brandon really was, I had trust issues and the only reason I trusted Jonas was that he had saved my life thrice. Jonas said he could be trusted but I found it a hard pill to swallow, I needed to be on guard. I was done with surprises for now at the very least.I opened the wardrobe when I stepped out of the bathroom and I was surprised he had femal
LISA'S POVI felt like I was overreacting. This was probably nothing and it was simply a coincidence. It couldn't be what I was thinking. I refused to believe the man standing outside was who I thought he was."Kayden, is everything all with you? You seem unwell." Brandon asks his best friend with true concern."I'm doing fine, I think. Is there something wrong, Dr. Brandon?""Nothing is. You look kind of funny to me, that's all."Kayden sighed. "I've been stressed out a lot of late. It's nothing that I can't take care of."Maybe, you should sit down. I can make a quick breakfast if you don't mind.""I'm afraid I'll have to pass on your request, old friend. Forgive me, I must be on my way soon. There are matters of state that need my presence.""Are you sure?"Kayden nodded."Why did you think he would come here? He knows I'm your best friend." Brandon asks."I
LISA'S POVAt midnight, we pull into a motel's parking lot."I'd like to get a room with double beds. Is that possible?" Jonas says, holding out a wad of cash. The man behind the counter nods his head and smiles. "That would be seventy dollars for the night."Jonas tosses him the wad of cash. "Keep all of it, I don't know how long we'd stay. See it as an advance payment."He hands us a plastic key and shows us to our room. The room smelt nice and the bed sheets looked clean. I immediately head off into the shower to take a long bath when I was done, I snuggled into bed. Erik laid out flat on his, I surmised he wouldn't be taking his bath and I couldn't blame him; he had driven for over twelve hours. I roll over to the end of my bed and turn off the night lamp. I hoped we would be safe here but I couldn't help but question if we were being tracked."Jonas?""Yes?" I hear him whisper as he turns t
LISA'S POVI stare at him with my mouth wide open. My mouth remains open as he stands up and heads over to place an order, the menu list in his hand. The villain of the storyI didn't believe it but did he have any reason to lie to me? If what he had said was true, that means he would be the worst villain ever recorded in history by a mile. He could also pass for being a pathetic villain too.Naturally, from the little I know, Jonas is far from Pathetic. But if he were the villain of our unpredictable story, why would he save my life? Not once or twice, I stopped counting at three. Or was there a fourth time? Since I was dirt poor to afford a television, I had relied upon comics books to give me the same thrill and I had never read about a villain who acted the same way Jonas was. He even killed someone affiliated with the Council for my sake.
