Alexei's POV

It had been a week since I last held her, and with only four weeks remaining until the crowning ceremony, the pressure was suffocating. I couldn't see her, not yet. As powerful as I was, she was vulnerable. If the council discovered she was my true mate, I shuddered to think of the danger she’d face. Specifically, I feared Ava’s father, Beta Mario. He was a man driven by ambition, and he wanted his daughter on the throne beside me. By now, I was certain my mate despised me for the broken promise of my return.

I parked my car at the far end of the school lot, hidden in the shadows. I watched her walk out, wearing a black gown with her hair tossed into a messy bun. She had her glasses on and looked utterly exhausted. I trailed her at a distance, my heart aching as I watched her shoulders slump. She looked so lonely, so abandoned. I knew she likely thought I had discarded her, but I had to find a way to claim her without painting a target on her back. I had to tell her the truth about what I was.

Only when I was sure she was safely inside her unit did I return to the office.

“Alpha,” Viktor called out, his voice snapping me from my brooding thoughts. “You look like a mess.”

“I know, Viktor. But what choice do I have?” I sighed, rubbing my temples. “You know Beta Mario is pushing the marriage with Ava. He’ll do anything to find my real mate and eliminate the 'distraction.' I’m certain I’m being watched.”

“I think you should at least call her,” Viktor suggested. “The scouts monitoring her say she’s at that school every day even Sundays.”

“A phone call isn't enough,” I growled, the wolf inside me restless. “If I hear her voice, I won't be able to stay away.”

I tried to bury myself in work, mirroring her own frantic pace, until a frantic call from Viktor shattered my focus.

“Alpha, the Luna... she’s been rushed to the hospital.”

My heart didn't just sink; it felt like it had been ripped out. “Send me the address.”

I didn't think twice. I drove like a madman. Luckily, Viktor had already flexed our influence and secured her a private wing. When I arrived, he was standing by the desk.

“Viktor, how is she?”

“She’s inside. You can see her now,” he said quietly, heading toward the cashier to settle the paperwork.

My chest tightened as I entered the room. She looked so small, lying lifeless against the bleached white sheets. A nurse came in to check her pulse, and I stood there frozen, watching the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest. I couldn't bring myself to touch her; the guilt was a physical weight. This is my fault, I thought. I pushed her to this.

“Is she alright?” I asked, my voice cracking.

“Yes,” the nurse replied with a soft smile. “She’s just suffering from extreme exhaustion. She’s sleeping now and should wake by tomorrow.”

I stayed by her side all night. As the hours ticked by, a cold realization settled in: no one else had come. No friends, no family.

“Viktor,” I whispered when he checked in. “Why isn't anyone here for her?”

“Her parents are divorced, Alpha,” he reminded me gently.

“I know that, but still...” The pain I felt for her doubled. She was carrying the world on her shoulders with no one to lean on. I vowed then that I would never let her out of my sight again.

I must have drifted off, because I woke to the sensation of soft fingers running through my hair. My eyes snapped open. She was awake.

“You’re awake,” I breathed, nearly tripping over my feet. “I’ll go call the doctor.”

After the check-up was finished and the room was silent again, I took her hands in mine. “I’m so sorry. For leaving you, for not coming back when I said I would.”

She offered me a million-dollar smile that made my heart do a literal somersault. “You don't need to apologize, Alexei. It’s not your fault.”

She tried to sit up, and I immediately rushed to support her, my hands lingering on her waist.

“It is my fault. I should have known you were overworking yourself,” I murmured. She blushed, a beautiful pink creeping up her neck. Before I could say more, Viktor returned with bags of food.

“Here, Miss Hart,” he said, placing them on the bedside table. He gave me a sharp look, signaling for a private word.

“I’ll be right back,” I told her, smoothing a stray hair from her forehead. Once we were out in the hallway and out of earshot, I nodded for Viktor to speak.

“Alpha, I think they know,” he whispered. “We caught one of Mario's men lurking near her apartment.”

My blood turned to ice, then boiled. “I don't care about the secret anymore. I will protect her myself. If they want to play this game, I’ll ensure they regret it.”

I returned to the room to find her nibbling on a snack. I sat on the stool close to her bed.

“Who was that?” she asked.

“Viktor. He’s my... personal assistant.”

She nodded, though she looked unconvinced. “Why didn't your family come to see you?” I asked, the question slipping out before I could stop it.

She froze. The light left her eyes for a moment, replaced by a haunting, distant look. She composed herself quickly, but the smile she gave me was brittle. “Maybe they’re just busy.”

I knew she was lying, but I didn't push. Not yet.

“Can’t I go home today?” she pleaded.

“No. You’re staying here for a week so I can monitor you,” I stated firmly.

Her brown almond eyes widened. “What? But I hate hospitals!” She pouted, and it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen.

“Fine,” I conceded, the plan forming in my mind. “Then you’ll stay with me until I’m sure you’re fine.”

I expected a fight. I expected her to call me crazy. Instead, she beamed at me and nodded. My relief was so great I nearly collapsed.

“When you’re discharged tomorrow, I’ll take you home to pack your things,” I said.

I stepped outside one more time to call Viktor. “I need a suite prepared at the estate immediately. Fill it with everything she might need clothes, books, the best linens. Make sure it’s perfect.”

I hung up before he could argue. I was going to bring my Luna home, and I was going to make sure she never felt abandoned again.

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    Dark Dreams

Novel's POV Alexei rushed to assist me down from the carriage. I offered him a small smile before he hurried off to help the others pitch the tents. Since I didn't know the first thing about securing canvas or tying knots, I simply stood there, feeling useless. I watched the flurry of activity until Emilia left my side to join the effort, leaving me alone in the deepening shadows of the trees. The forest was breathtaking, but as I took in the ancient beauty of the pines, a strange chill prickled my skin.“Novel...”The sound was barely a breath, a haunting whisper carried on the wind that seemed to speak directly to my soul. I turned, searching for the source, and my voice failed me. My vision blurred, and the world tilted. When my senses finally snapped back, the transition was violent. I wasn't in the clearing anymore. I was waist-deep in a freezing river, the current tugging at my skirts like icy hands. Emilia was there, her grip firm on my arm as she dragged me toward the bank.

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    The Journey

Alexei’s POVAfter seeing Novel’s condition worsen, I knew I hadn't made a mistake by insisting we begin the journey today. Every moment we lingered was a moment her life slipped further away.I didn't join her inside the carriage. Instead, I stayed mounted on my horse, keeping a watchful eye on the perimeter. I made sure she wasn't lonely, though; I sent Emilia to ride with her. As I gripped the reins, I made a mental note to ask her what she had seen or heard that caused her eyes to bleed. The memory of that crimson trail on her cheek burned in my mind like a brand. This journey was going to be grueling, but I had to find her: the Eldest Woman of the Crystal Moon Pack.We were just passing the borders of our territory and heading into the dense treeline. The sun was still high, casting golden light through the leaves, a small mercy, as it meant we wouldn't have to deal with intruders just yet.Our path had three primary stops before we reached the Crystal Moon Pack. First, the Wolf

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    The Journey to The Crystal Moon Pack

Novel's POVI woke up sweating profusely. A sharp, hot spike of pain flared where the arrow had hit me, making me gasp. I leaned over the side of the bed and coughed; a splash of bright red blood hit the floor.“Novel!” Alexei’s voice cracked with panic.I couldn't hear him clearly. I was still stuck in the dream, my heart hammering against my ribs. I wasn't sure if I was awake or still drifting. Usually, the moment the arrow pierced me, I’d wake up. But this time was different. I felt the cold heaviness of death, but then I saw her. For the first time, her eyes stayed clear, deep brown almond eyes exactly like mine. Before I could see the rest of her face, my own eyes snapped open.Alexei was hovering over me, his hands shaking, and I could feel the wetness of blood on my skin.“I saw her eyes,” I said, my voice trembling.“It's okay,” Alexei tried to comfort me, but my skin was crawling with fear. The sun was just starting to peek through. We were heading to the Crystal Moon Pack t

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    The Crystal Moon Pack

Alexei POV Novel had been acting strange lately. She wouldn't leave her room, she refused to go to school, and though I tried talking to her, she wouldn't open up. Every time she tried to step out of the room, her nose would begin to bleed. I couldn't understand it; I couldn't think of a single reason why the very air outside her door seemed to hurt her.Today, I’d finally had enough of the quiet tension. I stepped into her room, facing her.“Talk,” I said. She looked nervous, her skin pale and waxy.“I can hear them,” she said, her lips trembling.“Hear what, Novel?”“Their thoughts. I see through their lies, and when it happens, I bleed. The voices aren't mine, but I can't help but hear them.”“And since when has this been going on?” I asked, kneeling before her. “Let me guess… since the day you woke up with the nosebleed?”She nodded. Her deep brown, almond-shaped eyes were puffy, underlined by dark, heavy bags from lack of rest.“I can't sleep. I keep seeing him in my dreams.”M

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    The Whisper of the minds

Novel's POV After Alexei dropped us at the University, we separated. I had an early class, but the lecture hall felt like a cage. My mind kept drifting back to the morning at the dining table, Viktor and Ava and also Emilia. I tried to shake the images and the voice I heard, but they clung to me. Was what I saw real? Was what I heard actually said?"Hey."A soft tap on my shoulder jolted me. I turned to find Leo standing there. With his golden features and gentle eyes, he looked more like a portrait of an angel than a student."Hey," I managed, my voice small. He stared at me for a few seconds , his expression unreadable as if he were weighing a difficult decision."You see, I’ve been on leave for a long time," he said, his voice laced with nervousness. "Could you... help me with your notes? Maybe tutor me?"I opened my mouth to answer, feeling a pang of sympathy for him. But then, a voice, sharper and colder than his spoken tone, sliced through my brain.Ava is going to pay me do

  • The Alpha's World Claimed Me    Pain

Alexei's POV I noticed how Novel has had a nosebleed twice today. I also noticed how frozen she was when Viktor was talking, and how confused she looked when I was wiping the blood for her. I could feel it; something was wrong, and she was hiding something from me. If what she’s hiding is the reason for her nosebleeds, then I have to know what it is. I vowed to protect her, and I will. After dropping her and Emilia off, Viktor and I went to the warehouse on the outskirts of the city. As we entered the warehouse, the smell of blood and rust hit my nose.“Where is she?” I asked.“Up,” he replied as he led the way. The upper part of the warehouse was cleaner and fresher, having only one room in the middle. Viktor opened the door, and I stepped in.She was sitting on a small chair, facing the wall. Her back was toward us.“Elora Rossi,” I called out her name to gain her attention, but she didn’t move. Instead, she laughed like a maniac.“Does she know I am here? Because I heard she has r
