I am so nervous just sitting in the secretary's office of Mr. Volkov. And I know what you’re thinking: I came to be interviewed. But no, I came to do an interview. I’m a journalism student from Barcelona International University, and don't think I am interviewing a young, charming CEO, because I’m not. Mr. Dante Volkov is 56 years old and he has a lovely family. “Miss Hart, you can come in now,” the secretary said. The secretary is very pretty: slim, with straight blonde hair, ocean blue eyes, long lashes, and flawless makeup. I wish I could be like her, but my makeup is always messed up, which is why I stopped putting on makeup. She is the kind of woman who should be a main character in a romance novel. “Miss Hart, are you listening?” “Yes, thank you,” I said, then hurried to the office. I knocked on the door. “Come in,” I heard from inside. I took a deep breath, then I walked in, looking confident…I think. When I got in, my eyes couldn't help but wander around. The office is so huge and beautiful. The sofa is brown and professional, and the desk where Mr. Dante Volkov usually sat was cool. Then my eyes moved to the man behind the desk, and my mouth dropped in awe. He has olive skin that complimented his steel grey eyes, dark blonde hair, and a sharp jawline. “Oh, my,” I said to myself. I walked a little closer, and that's when I noticed his broad shoulders and muscular build. I know you think I'm gawking at a fifty-six-year-old man, but this one looks to be around his early twenties. “Did I make a mistake?” I thought. I guess he noticed the confused look on my face. “My dad is on leave,” he said, then gestured for me to take a seat, which I nodded in response. “...So, hmm.” I could not say the words that were in my throat. I thought he was handsome from afar, but up close, I can feel my pants getting soaked. Don't blame me; he is just too perfect. “Ahem,” he knocked me out of my dirty thoughts. “Miss Novel Hart, right?” he asked with a smile plastered to his face. Now I am sure I'm wet, because his smile just sent me to heaven and back. “Yes, from Barcelona International University,” I tried to compose myself. “Okay, I am Alexei Volkov,” he said. Even his name is enough to make me cum. “Novel Hart, compose yourself,” I said to myself. “Would you be the one taking the interview, or should I come another time?” I asked. “Yes, I will take the interview, but,” he paused like he was thinking of what to say, “don't ask me uncomfortable questions,” he finally said with a smile, and I nodded. “I came with ten questions, but I will ask five since we are short on time.” He nodded in agreement. I turned on the recorder, then skimmed through the questions, but there was none I could ask. “Hmm, I prepared the questions for Mr. Volkov, so I can't find a question to ask you,” I said with a look of frustration. “It's okay, just ask the ones you prepared.” “Thank you.” He nodded. “What would you say about the growth of your business, and how does being the richest man in New Jersey feel?” He took some time before he answered. “Growing a business is not an easy task. I am grateful to my employees from every department for putting in effort to help the company grow. And being the richest man in New Jersey feels like I am moving forward, and it shows I have potential employees and customers, because they are the ones doing the work, and my customers are the best for always buying from us.” I was amused by his answer. He is not only looking like a Greek god, but he is intelligent. I asked the other questions, and he gave very intelligent answers. “The last question: Do you have someone to dedicate your success to?” He thought for a while. “If it was my dad, he would say ‘My Wife,’ right?” he asked me, and I nodded yes. “That would sound nice, but since I am not my dad, I would say ‘My employees.’” “Okay…” I said. “Thank you for your time, Mr. Alexei Volkov,” I said with a smile as I stood up to turn off the camera. He also stood up, and I noticed he was 6’4”. “Oh, my God, what are you trying to tell me?” I thought to myself. I packed my things and took one last look at him and saw he was looking at me, so I smiled as I made my way to the door. I paused at his words: “Novel, what a nice name.” I was so flustered by his words, I couldn't look at him, so I hurriedly left his office. It's so sad. After today, I wouldn't get to see him again. “How was it?” the hot-looking secretary asked like she was worried for me. “It was okay, and nice,” I said, then waved her goodbye. I took a cab to my house, and throughout the ride, I could not stop thinking about him. “Alexei.” How would it be if he were to take me? Would he be gentle or rough? How would his kiss taste? When I reached my apartment, I paid the driver, then entered the elevator to my apartment. I was so exhausted. I took a quick shower, then I lay on my bed ready to sleep when an idea came to my head. So I followed my thoughts. I searched his name on G****e to know about him, but could not find anything, only a picture of him and his dad. “What a waste of time,” I said. I was about to close my eyes when my phone rang. “Who could this be now?” I checked, and it was an unknown number, so I didn't bother picking up the call. I continued my journey to dream land, because tonight I have an appointment with him in my dreams.Alexei's POV The room was heavy with the scent of lavender and the salt of unshed tears. My heart hammered against my ribs, a dull, aching thud, as I watched Novel. She was coiled tightly on the silk duvet, a small, trembling figure lost in a sea of blankets. Seeing her like this….. broken, sobbing into the pillows, tore at my soul. I hated it. I was her Alpha, her protector, yet I felt powerless against the grief that had swallowed her whole. As I reached out to brush a stray hair from her face, my mind began to spiral into dark, jagged places. A poisonous thought took root: was Viktor hiding something? The realization hit me like a physical blow. If Novel was in this state, it had to mean my trust had been misplaced. Viktor, my closest confidant, had given me a photo that he claimed was Maxillo, but it wasn't. The seeds of suspicion began to grow. Was it possible? Could Viktor actually be the enemy?I leaned in, trying to drown out the doubt by focusing on her. When our lips met,
Novel's POV I didn't hear the door open. I didn't even hear the floorboards groan under his weight. I was lost in a sea of my own shadows until I felt the sudden, searing heat of hands on my shoulders.I jumped, a small gasp escaping my throat. "Alexei," I whispered, my voice thick with salt and grief."Why are you crying, Novel?" His voice was a low rumble, laced with a sharp edge of worry. He reached out, his fingers brushing my chin, trying to tilt my face toward his. I resisted, tucking my head down. I didn't want him to see the wreckage behind my eyes. I wanted the tears to stop, but they were like a dam that had finally burst."Is it because of me?" he asked softly."I hate myself so much!" The scream tore out of me before I could stop it. "I think life would have been better for everyone if I just... wasn't in the picture.""Novel, don't say that……""I hate that you love me so much!" I stood up abruptly, my chair skidding back. My hands were clenched so hard my nails bit into
Alexei's POV I knew what Novel said made sense. To anyone else, I probably looked like a fool for holding on.But the revelation she’d just shared felt like a physical weight in the room. Maxillo had a scar on his wrist? He was bigger now? I ran a hand through my hair, my heart hammering against my ribs. I couldn't bring myself to believe Viktor would lie. There was no reason for it, no motive for him to betray the one person who had his back.Novel didn't understand. She couldn't. Viktor had been the anchor in my life since the day he was brought to this pack.I closed my eyes, and the memories rushed in. I saw myself as a small boy again. Lonely, So damn lonely. As the Alpha’s son, I was a ghost to the other children. They saw the golden hue of my eyes, the mark of a wolf that had claimed me before I was ready….and they turned away in fear. My father was always buried in pack business; my mother was a blur of movement between her duties and the library. I was a prince in a golde
Novel's POV After Viktor led Emilia from the room, the silence left behind felt heavy and suffocating. Alexei turned to me, his brow furrowed with a suspicion he couldn't quite hide.“What were you two really talking about?” he asked.I forced a small, practiced smile, trying to keep my voice steady. “Nothing for you to worry about, Alex. Just girls talk.”“Really? Because I can tell when you’re lying to me, Novel.” He stepped closer, his eyes searching mine.I looked away. I couldn't tell him, not yet. He wouldn't believe that Viktor, his closest confidant, was a snake in the grass. I had no proof, no evidence that Emilia was merely a pawn in a much larger, darker game. If I spoke now, I would just sound paranoid.“Did you see Maxillo’s body?” I asked, desperate to change the conversation.“Yes. Viktor sent me a photo of the scene,” Alexei said, pulling his phone from his pocket. He scrolled for a moment before turning the screen toward me. The second my eyes hit the image, the worl
Novel’s POVI was trapped in a dark void. I didn’t know how much time had passed, but when I woke, I wasn't in a hospital or Alexei's mansion. I was in a hollow, endless nothingness.“Ahhhhh!” I screamed, my voice disappearing into the black. I waited for days, sleeping and waking, until the silenc
Alexei’s POV After leaving Novel’s room, I retreated to my own. My mind was a storm of doubt and agony, but the look in her eyes as I walked away haunted me, it was a silent scream for help I had ignored. By evening, the guilt became unbearable. I decided to go back to her, to tell her that I belie
Alexei’s POVI decided to meet the architect of Novel’s nightmare. As I walked into the café, my eyes scanned the room until I saw her. I took a seat by the window, waiting with a cold, simmering patience. After a few minutes, Elora Rossi arrived. She was fair-skinned and possessed a youthful glow
Novel’s POVI had been restless for days. I didn't know what to do, should I just tell Alexei what I know? I shook the thought off. I couldn’t tell him things I wasn't even sure were real. I had been absent from school for a while, so I decided to go today. Luckily, Emilia was waiting outside the h
