The moment Rowan’s messenger burst through the council doors, panting, dirt-streaked, and trembling, a cold weight dropped into my stomach so fast I nearly staggered. I didn’t need to hear the words to know something was off. My wolf pressed hard against my skin, claws dragging at the inside of my ribcage, urging me to rip the truth out of the man before he even spoke.

But then he did speak.

“Alpha Jeffery you need to know that Charlotte was seen today by my men. She has been taken by Liam and his men and transported into the Dark Rogue Territory.”

For a second, all sound inside the hall vanished. The council chamber, usually buzzing with low murmurs and rustling robes, froze. My lungs refused to expand, the world around me contracting into a pinpoint of brutal clarity.

Impossible. That land swallowed warriors whole. No maps. No known tunnels. No friendly forces. It was where rogues went to disappear forever, where they dragged bodies no one was meant to find.
