Chapter Four
/-Tediora-/
My punches would do nothing to him, and on the other hand, if he punched me, I would most likely pass out. I couldn't afford any of that.
But there was no way to escape either. Both Alphas and bodyguards had surrounded us in a big circle.
There was no escape.
Goddess, please do something! Anything!
As the huge man charged towards me, the bell suddenly rang, throwing everything off balance.
“All students would be signing into their assigned dorms now. As you approach the reception, please hand over your license for scanning to be assigned a room number,” the speaker blazed.
Relief washed through me. Thank you, goddess!
Theodore shot me a glare, “You won't be so lucky next time.”
“Neither will you. Let's hope I have your time then,” I bluffed and walked away from him. In the crowd of people hurrying to the reception, I completely lost Alpha Dominic.
After a long line of waiting, it was finally my turn, and the smallish man at the desk received my license without sparing me a glance and scanned it.
“I see you've been assigned to a Phantom Wolf. You won't be sharing the normal dorms with everyone else. You will be moving into the Phantom dorm. Room 4, Phantom Hall One.”
What?! What?!! What?!!!
Dominic was a Phantom Wolf?! How the hell did I not know that?!
I knew I was going to encounter them somehow, definitely, but I didn't think it would be on my first day.
Living in the same space with them all year? I might blow up the school in a week out of anger.
“Here's your license and key card.”
The words barely entered my ears, but my hands moved robotically.
I was guarding a Phantom Wolf! One of the wolves responsible for killing my brother. How could I have known? I thought they would all have that medallion or something.
“Follow me,” a voice said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I blinked rapidly, finally looking at the man in front of me. He was already moving, so I had to run to catch up.
I decided to gather information from him.
“If you don't mind me asking, the Phantom wolves, is there anything special about them? How does one know the other is a Phantom Wolf?” I asked.
He cast me an impatient glance. “Didn't you figure out all that during your training?”
Right! So I wasn't getting an answer then. My mind drifted back to that confident smirk on his face. His commanding aura. The whole flipping thing and him asking me to prove myself worthy.
My fists clenched hard. He was so strong. A physical combat with him would have been the end for me.
“Here is your dorm,” the man's mechanical voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He turned to leave.
“Thank you,” I bowed, and he glanced back at me.
“Don't thank me yet. I might be moving out your corpse in less than a week,” he muttered, walking away.
My whole body stilled. What?!
Mariel came to my mind, and my chest ached. Thirteen months. That was how long he lasted before they killed him off.
I wouldn't need that long.
Clutching my license, I stepped towards the building. It was the only building in the area, and as much as I hated to admit it, the mansion was stunning. I took in my surroundings for the first time.
It looked like a home. The lawn, flowers, garage, everything. It didn't seem like a dorm at all. At the top of the building was the Phantom insignia.
I sucked in a deep breath. Well, here goes nothing.
I walked through the double doors and it… was a lot busier than I expected. There were servants everywhere and bodyguards trying to locate their rooms.
As my eyes scanned them, I began to wonder… how many Phantom wolves are there exactly to need these many guards?
I have always imagined that there were at least three to four of them. Now I realise the big miscalculation I made in my whole plan.
I unconsciously took a step forward and bumped into someone.
“Dammit, what is it with you people and bumping into people?” I cursed under my breath, half expecting an insult from whoever was behind me.
“Why, little mouse?” A honey-like tone retorted, with a glint of amusement. “You're the one who bumped into me.”
Just then,, the sweet smell of lavender engulfed me. Every inch of my skin prickled like there were a thousand needles on it.
I turned around and froze.
A silver medallion glinted against their chest, unmistakable and damning.
A Phantom Wolf.
Curly red hair that fell over his face, a pointed nose with high cheekbones. Small cherry lips and a smile… a smile that knocked breath out of my lungs.
He was dressed in a matching red tracksuit and was slightly leaner than Dominic. Little cross earrings on his ear and a rose tattoo running from his neck and disappearing into his shirt.
Unlike Dominic's calm, powerful aura, his aura was dark and menacing. A strong contrast to his honey-laced tone and teasing words.
My breath caught, chest rising unevenly as heat flooded my face. My fists clenched until my nails bit into my palms, barely holding back the fury coiling under my skin.
“Don't look at me with such intense hate, little mouse. I won't pretend it doesn't turn me on…” his lips curled into a smirk as the words rolled off his tongue. “Hand me your license.”
My fists clenched hard. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears.
‘Hand it over, Teddy. Now.’ Ava's voice echoed in my head, sharp and urgent. I froze. She hadn’t spoken in months, not since Mariel’s death. Her sudden return rattled me more than the red-haired devil in front of me.
'Can't you smell his terrifying bloodlust, Ted? If you start a fight, he is going to beat you! So hand it over!’ she snapped.
I sucked in a deep breath and handed over the license to him. He took the license and stared at it while I tried to figure out what the other part of his face covered with hair looked like. I couldn't even tell his eye colour.
But I caught a glimpse when he raised his head, just enough to see one eye glinting red-gold, like sunlight bleeding through wine.
“So you are one of Dominic's playthings, huh?” He rumbled sweetly. “That's cute. The last one lasted for only two weeks.”
Playthings? Two weeks?
My breath hitched. I shouldn't be surprised. It sounded like what they were capable of.
“How long are you going to last, little mouse?” He asked, and my fists clenched. Aside from his intimidating presence, I hated that nickname, too.
“It’s Alvin,” I gritted. “Not little mouse.”
He tossed me my license and began walking away.
“You should be careful, little mouse,” his voice dropped, almost reverent. “You smell a little too pleasant. Like sin wrapped in silk. Everything I shouldn’t want… and everything I do.”
My cheeks stained red as my heart slowed…
Did he… Did he just flirt with me?
Chapter 66The Meeting /-Rhys-/This meeting was definitely not one I wanted to have anything to do with but again, it was meeting with the school board so I couldn't just skip it. I sat between Dominic and Zeke, while Asher sat at the far end of the table, away from us. None of us bothered to ask him what was going on.I mean, for him to randomly chose someone who tried to kill his mate as a bodyguard, it was obvious that there was more at play here. The board members soon arrived and the meeting began. “The agenda for today's meeting includes, the recent mission assigned to the Phantom Wolves, the rumors circulating around homosexuality between the Phantom members and finally, election of the fifth member in the Phantom Wolves circle,” Secretary Hardy read out. My interest was immediately piqued. I had assumed this would be one of their usual boring meetings where they gave missions and drilled up about maintaining the MoonCrest legacy but this was something worth hearing. “Fir
Chapter 65/-Tediora-/“I really didn't mean to aim it at you, believe me.” Basil said, chasing after me.Only a few people passed. Others didn't have the guts to attack their teammates so either they actually hit the apple or their terrible skills didn't help them to get the arrow anywhere close to the target at all.“It's fine, Basil, I understand.” But did I really? It seemed like he really wanted to attack me.“I know you're not Alvin. You're walking away from me too fast for someone that claims to be fine about the whole thing.”“I just have somewhere I need to be. That's it.” I said, walking faster. He finally caught up to me when we got to the dorm room and held on to my shoulder and I flinched.“I said it was fine!” I yelled as I spun around to face him and he backed up.Some people that were passing, paused and stared at us. I looked down and turned back to the door, pulling it open and walking in.Sammy was on his bed and he was smirking when he looked up at us.“I guess y
Chapter 64/-Tediora-/We stayed in the library for hours, sifting through books on witch hunters but not much came up. We were tired and drowsy after a while so we went off to our respective dorms.“Wait.” Zeke stopped me and then pulled me in for a hug.“Let's meet later tomorrow again. I really am glad that I could tell you about everything and trust you to keep the secret.”I nodded and he pulled away, walking to the edge of the hall and taking a turn before disappearing from my sight.–“Look at the time you're coming in, wonder where you've been.”Sammy was up for some reason and staring at me with a gleam in his eyes.“Back off Sammy. I thought you would enjoy not being in bandages for a while.”He frowned but it only lasted for a second before his disgusting smile crept on his face again. “The commotion earlier huh. That was a lot, wasn't it? Imagine being the centre of attention for two of the phantom members wanting to be in your asshole so badly,” he snickered, and usually
Chapter 63/-Tediora-/It was already dark out when I woke up, slowly turning to my side to check the time.Fucking hell, it was already past ten?! My legs were sore and wobbly as I tried my best to get up hurriedly from the bed.“That was one way to end your day,” Ava commented and I just rolled my eyes, ignoring her. “You got cracked so good that you're ignoring your own wolf? It really does mean being your own person.”“Stop being a baby. I need to get out of here before morning. You could have woken me up, you know?” “What's the fun in that?”I quickly got dressed and walked out of the room. It was pretty dark in the hallways, and I couldn't see properly, so I bumped into the walls a bit too much.I saw someone pass and I hid in the shadows.I turned a bit to see who it was when I caught the current book he was reading.Zeke? So I did the next best thing that I could think of. I followed him.He walked all the way to the library and then he stopped just outside the door and tur
Chapter 62/-Tediora-/“You’re bleeding,” I said flatly, taking a step toward him. “Let me help you with that.”I reached for the towel, but he raised his hands, shifting it out of my reach. I frowned.“Do you want my help or not?”His eyes slowly ran over me, lips tugging up at the corners. “I have a first aid kit in my dorm. How about helping me away from prying eyes?”“Fine.”He winked at me, then turned. I rolled my eyes and followed him.“Pardon the mess. Haven’t exactly had time to clean up this morning,” he said, pushing open his room door. His room was the same as last time. He handed me the towel and set the first aid box beside me as he sat on the edge of his bed.“This might hurt a bit,” I warned, crouching in front of him.He let out a low chuckle. “Pain is kind of my thing.”The tone in which he spoke sent a tingly sensation down my body. I tried to ignore the smug expression he wore as his gaze flickered down to my lips before meeting my eyes again. I put some antiseptic
Chapter 60/-Tediora-/It was lunchtime when the cafeteria doors slammed open and Asher stormed in. He walked over to where Rhys sat and dragged him up by his collar.“Easy there, tiger. What do you want from me?” Rhys looked at him lazily, like he was unbothered by how he was huffing and how red his face was. Asher didn't say anything and began to drag him out and Rhys just followed, not saying anything.Murmurs flew across the room and some students followed them, including me. What the hell were they doing?Seeing two phantom members fight would be the highlight of the day, weeks, even. They got to the courtyard when Asher finally released Rhys and pushed him back but Rhys didn't even flinch."You don't deserve him," Asher growled, standing in front of Rhys in the middle of the courtyard.Rhys raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Oh? Are we finally talking about Alvin now? Or are we still pretending you actually have feelings instead of just a control issue?”“You know what your problem
