My mother walked into the garden and stared at me from the doorway, shaking her head and then stepped out walking over to me muttering under her breath, “why didn’t you come to me, I’m sure your father told too, but did you listen,” she sat down on the bench in front of me. Her hand clasped in her lap, staring into my eyes, “son, if this girl, Rochelle, means so much to you why haven’t you done the simplest of things to catch her attention, tiny gestures mean the world to any female.”
