Chapter 8

Devon 's POV

Anger was all I felt throughout my stay here in Silverwood pack. For two days, I haven't seen Avery and Lucien refused to say anything about her.

"I don't see why you are interested in my servant Alpha Devon . You can have anyone in the pack except her and Stella." Lucien said and I scoffed.

"You have to choose one, Lucien . It is either her or Stella. But I will advise you to stick with Stella because I want Avery and there is nothing you can do about that." I said to him and he laughed mockingly.

"There is nothing I can do? Look around Devon . You are in my pack and any stupid action from you can cost you your life and alliance with this pack. You know you need as much as you can find because you're just stepping on that throne." He said with a small smile and what he said did make sense. "So think twice before you cross me, Alpha Devon ."

After saying that, he turned and let me there, standing, enraged. I walked back to my room and Caleb could feel my anger when he stepped back in.

"Is it about Lady Avery, my alpha?" He asked and I totally ignored him. "I got one of the maids to talk about where he might be keeping her."

I finally looked up at him before he continued speaking. "She is locked up in one of the rooms in his quarters. There's no way she can get out or we can get into his quarters because it is highly restricted. This might not be a good time to leave with her." He said and I gritted my teeth.

"I seriously want to strangle him and feed his body to my tigers." I growled angrily.

"That is not the best thing to do, my alpha. We don't want to cause any trouble with Silverwood pack, even if it isn't now, there's a chance that one of the next months, the alpha will put Prince Lucien in that alpha position." Caleb explain and I snagged back in the sofa with another loud groan.

"When are we leaving?" I asked.

"Tomorrow night my alpha. The alpha has finalized everything we came here for, so I don't see any need to stay here longer." He said and I stood up, and walked to the window, looking out in the woods. The view of the woods comforted me like it used to back at home.

"Why night?" I asked.

"I have to finalize the loading of the goods while will be following us tomorrow so we will be leaving at night." He explained and I hummed.

"You can leave." I said before he bowed and walked out of the room. I felt defeated that I was unable to do anything for Avery while I was here. Just the feeling I was getting from her, I could tell she hasn't been treated right at all and it angered me.

"I liked her." My wolf said with a low growl. "There is something about her that doesn't show weakness at all and there is something that shows this weakness too."

"I noticed that too." I replied with a sigh. I just wanted to go out and lose myself in the woods tonight but I had to be on guard in someone else's pack. "Damn, I hate leaving my pack." I gritted my teeth before returning to my bed to have my definitely unsettling sleep.

"Do you love me?" A soft voice said with a whisper. "No one has ever loved me, tell me do you love me?"

"I don't."

I shot my eyes open as I looked around frantically. It was just a dream. A sigh escaped my lips as I laid back in bed, shielding my face from the ray of sunlight coming in. I woke up very late, which is so unlike me.

I stepped out of the bed and stretched gently before going to take a shower and preparing to leave back for my pack. The thought of Avery crossed my mind again and I shook it out. When the time was right, I will come back for her if she hadn't given in to all Lucien 's desires on her.

I stepped out of the room to run into Stella who looked at me with a bright expression. "Alpha Devon , I was just personally bringing breakfast to you since you missed breakfast with us." She said, flashing me a flirty smile.

I stopped before her and leaned closer, which surprised her. "I am not interested in you Lady Stella. Your actions are passing the wrong impressions across and I would like to avoid it as much as I can." I leaned back with a smirk. "Thank you very much Lady Stella, for your kind gesture."

As I said this, I walked past her with my hands jammed in my pockets and I could tell she was shocked by my action but I couldn't care less.

The whole day passed in a blur. Alpha was seeing me back to my car. "It was very nice having you here with us in Silverwood." He said with a smile.

"I am glad we could come to an agreement to deal with each other, Alpha. I hope this continues and nothing comes in between." I said, looking at Lucien who scoffed.

"I assure you Alpha Devon ." He said with a smile and I bowed before looking at the two.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Prince Lucien , Lady Stella. I would like to see you again in future." I said before getting into my car and without saying anything else, I drove out of the place at full speed and the rest of the cars followed after me.

After driving far away from the pack house, I stepped on the break and looked at the passenger seat behind me. "You can come out now and stop hiding or I'll have to pull you down." I said and just then, Avery peeked out from behind my seat.
