CHAPTER THREE

/THE ALPHA’S SECOND CHOICE- A Bid To Hate/

~03- Betas and Gammas~

^EMMA’S POINT OF VIEW^

I should have known. I should have known that Tiana never cared about the pack’s safety. I should have known that she was just as heartless as my parents who decided to throw me to the wolves. Tiana ran away two days before the wedding. She was busy going around with my mother, checking wedding gowns, and being congratulated by the pack members even though they did not who she was getting married to and why, or else they would have feared for her.

I was only told yesterday that I would be getting married today. Obviously, Kelvin had something to do with it.

I stared at my father, hoping he would put up a fight since everything that happened so quickly but he did. He watched the way Kelvin dragged me out of the hall and had me enter his car. He went back inside.

A tear slid down my face as I palmed my face. I hurriedly wiped it off and I lifted my head. Immediately, I caught sight of Marcus behind the hall before he ran away. I did not know how my hands moved but they did, I unlocked the car’s door and stepped out.

I followed the direction he ran towards and finally saw him standing on the cliff that marked the end of my father’s pack.

“Marcus!” I cried out, worry itching my face as I watched him. If he takes a step, he will fall and... Die.

“Stop! Stop pretending like you cared for me! I told you everything about me and made myself vulnerable. I thought what we had was real but you lied to me!” He yelled.

“Please just come forward. And I will explain.” I begged him.

He shook his head. “There is no need for you to explain. You should have told me from the beginning that you were going to get married instead of making me fall in love with you. We were supposed to be mates.” He snapped.

I had not been able to tell him about the wedding since it was all too sudden and when my father announced it to the pack members, I did not have the face to meet him.

“There was a reason behind it! I do not love him! Heck, I hate him with every core in me.” I yelled back for him to hear.

Angry tears slid down my face as I stared at Marcus.

“You should not scream about hating your husband publicly when you are on a land filled with werewolves.” A voice came from behind me. My spine stiffened at the deep and unexpected voice behind me. It was so close I could feel the rumble of his words against my back.

Ice slid through my veins as I stood, rooted to the spot.

How did he get here?

“I do not care. You used me. I should have known. Bye, Emmalyn. Wish you a happy married life.” He said and with that, he slipped off the cliff.

“Marcus!!!” I yelled out but Kelvin pulled me back.

“Except you want to join him,” He hissed.

I struggled against him and glared daggers at him with my reddened eyes. He did not seem unnerved by it.

“I want to join him.” I spat and turned to leave but what he did next shocked the living hell out of me.

Kelvin reached out and lifted me up on his shoulder. “What the hell are you doing?” I screamed, hitting his back repeatedly.

“Taking my bride to my pack before I am accused of killing her.”

I hissed. “Who would care? No one cares! Not the pack members who despite knowing I was marrying the devil or my father who gave me out to a beast!”

He did not say anything as he dumped me into the back seat and then settled next to me.

“I do not care about your past relationship or those who threw you to the beast, or those who do not care about you. You are my wife and you must behave accordingly. Remember what I said about manners.” He said, his cool and collected voice slid over me like ice and I found instantly feel it, that fear that his voice and presence commanded.

I fell back to the chair and stared outside through the window. My life was beginning to feel like hell.

Tiana, I will never forgive you for putting me through this hell. I promise you!

I did not know for how long I slept but by the time we reached Kelvin’s pack, it was already dusk. We stepped out and I was expecting to be welcomed by several pack members but none was in sight. I looked around the pack. It was a nice cozy place.

I turned to Kelvin’s place but he had slammed the door already and began his walk into the pack house. I hurriedly left the door and ran to meet up with him. He spared me no glance though.

We finally reached an entrance and the door slid open. He stepped in first and I followed. The view I met again was not what I was expecting to see. I had initially thought I would meet an empty living room with a dark kind of vibe but what I was staring at was not what I expect from an Alpha who has been famous for being ruthless and cruel.

The men that they accompanied him the last time when he came to finally the wedding sat with food hanging off their mouths as they stared back at us.

The first one who I assumed is the Beta dropped his spoon and rose up. “Alpha.” He gave him a curt now and Kelvin arched a brow.

“Just because I did not allow you to come to my wedding, you decide to use my living room as your dining room?” He questioned them, darting his gaze between the two.

The one who was the Gamma rose to his feet and dusted his shirt. “As your Beta, he was the one who said you would not care and it is revenge that you refused to allow him to come for the wedding.” He said and turned to leave but in a swift motion, one that had me flinching, Kelvin stopped before the Gamma.

The Beta snorted and whistled. “Deal with him, Kelvin. I'm gone.” He said, walking past him but with a glare from Kelvin he paused.

“Are we in trouble, Denver?” He asked the Gamma.

“I think we are.” Denver winced.

“Three hours added to your training hours and working hours each,” Kelvin announced and walked away, leaving me alone.

What do I do now?

The Beta whose name I am yet to know grinned. “Hi, I am Steven.”

Steven.

I nodded my head slowly.

“You do not need to be scared, Luna-” He trailed off.

“Emmalyn.” I completed.

“Oh wow, such a beautiful name for a pretty Luna.” He smiled and I could feel the blush creeping into my cheeks.

Oh, why didn’t I get married to him instead?

A throat was cleared behind us. We all turned around. Kelvin stood, glaring at the other two behind me. “Don't you have work to do?”

“Work? Do we?” Steven asked, looking confused.

Kelvin dipped his hands into his pockets and inclined his head before arching his left brow.

“Hmm, yes! We have work to do.” Denver said. I turned around and watched him drag Steven who was struggling against him away.

I wanted to smile but with what happened today, I could not find it in me to smile.

Marcus is dead.

I married my sister’s fiancee.

I am now the Luna to a beast.

What else can go wrong with my life?

“The bedroom is the first place you will see as soon as you step in through the curtain,” Kelvin said before disappearing into a nearby door.
