CHRISTIAN’S POV
“Fuck man! You mean you did not even know the chick’s name?” Khalid laughed heartily as I explained what had happened the previous day.A small chuckle escaped my lips, It was tradition for Khalid and I to give each other the experience we had with any random we fuck. In this case, I was telling him about my little awkward situation with Erica, I mean Cressida.“Dude, and the whole time she was just letting you call her Erica?” he stretched forth his hand towards his glass of wine.I gave a casual shrug, “yeah- I mean there wasn’t time for corrections when I had her mouth full with my cock”He took a sip from his glass, shaking his head in denial as small chuckles escaped his lips. I reached for my small glass of bourbon; my eyes catching on the behind of a small figure moving around in the bar.Her hair was packed into a messy bun, the uniform was short enough for me to see her thighs and the beginning of the curve of her ass when she bent forward to place drinks on the table for customers.“Khalid , how dare you withhold such information…” I announced, snapping my fingers to call his attention from his phone; he raised his head and took a quick glance behind him.“What information are you talking about, man?” He asked“Who is the delicious morsel?” I inquired, throwing my head in the direction of the girl“Oh yeah, she’s new. She got the job yesterday…” My eyes kept raking her from behind; I wasn’t able to get a view of her face from where I sat.“Tell me about her,” I inquired further,“For starters, I almost sent her out of my bar. She came in for the interview dressed like we publish articles in here.” He let out a throaty laugh.“Her outfit was that bad?” I grinned,“It was a train wreck, but then she has got potential. She just needs to loosen up a bit and I like the look of her. I would not mind us hitting the back once in a while” He lowered his voice as he said this, winking at me.“Not if I get her first.” I grinned, my eyes darted towards her again. “You can enjoy her as my sloppy seconds when I am done” I told him.“Do not even think about it; she has work to do” He stopped me,“I just want to say hi, that is all.” I smirked, ignoring the hand he held out“Christian, I am serious…”I let out a small laugh before approaching the new girl.“Having a great time?” I drawled, leaning forward so she would be taken aback when she turned. She turned swiftly, her eyes slamming on mine just as mine widened in realization and shock. It was the woman, Hayley.“What are you doing here?” She asked, her eyes darting up and down right before coming back to me.I could read the accusations and suspicion in them“Don’t you think I should be asking you that question, Hayley” I murmured. She stared at me once more before she sighed, like she was tired and I was disturbing the fuck out of her. It wasn’t the regular reaction I would expect from any woman and one I had never received. It only made me want to know her more and only reassured me that I wanted her as my wife.“Excuse me, some of us actually have jobs to do” She snorted, carrying a tray and circling the bar.“Why have you not called me?” I asked, following after her.“I don’t see the need to; it is quite obvious you are crazy and I am not about to humor any delusions you have” She huffed, approaching table 16.“You do know being my wife will pay more than waiting tables?” I assured her.“I don’t care… now please leave me be, my boss is watching and I do not want to lose this job” She turned, casting a full glare in my direction before she moved again.I stopped following her and not because her words had the expected effect but because I was confused as to how she could be so unaffected around me. She was a wild card and I was drawn and very fascinated by her.I returned to Khalid who raised both eyebrows when I took a seat.“What happened?” I asked“She is the one I want as my wife” I stated matter of fact.“Is this a joke, man?” He muttered.“No, remember the bar you recommended? I saw her there and gave her my card.”“What are the fucking odds?” Khalid laughed“She is weird” I told him“How so?”“She doesn’t seem to want me which is strange. Every woman wants what I can offer and I think she is quite repelled by me” I explained“Now, that is one woman I want to get to know” Khalid exclaimed while I cast him a stink glare.I was about to say something else but was interrupted by the commotion at table 16. It would seem that Hayley was involved in some sort of heated conversation with a customer and he had his hands on her.My eyes narrowed as I surveyed the situation and rose to my feet.“Excuse me” I grunted, heading in their direction.“Let go off me, Chester.” I heard her say.“And if I don’t?” The man grunted, tightening his arm around her. “You are working at a bar now, huh? Suits you” He snapped“Get your hands away from her.” I barked an order as I nearedThe man maintained his grip on her arm but they were both looking in my direction now; him with a confused yet cocky look on his face and she with distress in her eyes.“Who the fuck are you?” The man snapped, rising to his feet.I smiled, rolling up my sleeve.“I will not repeat myself, motherfucker” I growled while Hayley visibly paled“Get the fuck out of here with that bull…”I did not allow the man finish his sentence before I made a grab for his hand, grinning at the satisfying pop that signaled a broken wrist.“Fuck, motherfucker… you broke my fucking hand” The man screamed, cradling his hand.“I will be breaking your damned head next if you do not get the fuck out of here” I threatened.I turned to a stunned Hayley, grabbing her hand and yanking her to me as I led her out of the club even as she protested.“Let go of me!” she yelled as soon as we got outside.I dropped her hand like it was hot coal, taking a deep breath.“What did you do that for? Do you realize that you just broke his arm?” she breathed, rubbing her wrist where I held her.“He was harassing you, I just could not watch him do that to you.” I explained“I did not ask you to defend me” She countered. “Why don’t you go away?” She muttered in exasperation.“I should be asking you that question… this is fate, Hayley; don’t you see?”“What exactly do you want from me?” she snapped, her eyes showing confusion“I want you to consider my offer, come see me in my office.”“I don’t want to, because what you are offering is ridiculous.” she muttered“But it’s not impossible, think of all the benefits you would enjoy if you accept and it will not be for long”I pressed further.“Just think about it, Hayley and come see me… use the card I gave you” I told her.“I tossed it out” She answered, her eyes twinkling with mischief“You tossed it out?” I echoed, surprised and then I chuckled“I thought you were crazy” She repeated, folding her arms across her chest as if daring me to argue I was sane.I reached into my pocket, pulling out another card“Here”She stared at my extended hand like it was some snake poised to strike before she took the card.“Come and see me” I stated. “And do not toss this one out again” I commanded. Her chin came up in protest at the tone of my words but she pocketed the card and we both walked back into the club.I stared as she walked back to the bar, a tremor racing up my spine.Such an intriguing woman, I thought… I wanted her.ONE WEEK LATERCHRISTIAN’S POV “Yes, Officer Gavin. I appreciate your efforts. Thank you.” I said, and the call dropped. I turned from the window and faced Hayley, who was lying down on the bed. We were both fully discharged from the hospital, and Khalid was still there. And I always made sure I checked on him every day. Hayley, on the other hand, still had to go to the hospital for her antenatal. Officer Gavin was telling me about Denver, and they caught him. He didn’t even hesitate to cooperate with the police; he sold Alexander out. The police were now looking for him, he and Alexander made the deal about putting the bomb under my car. And other news aside, the person who was trying to poison Bernard was a maid in the house. Her motives weren’t clear yet, but she was with the police now. I also heard that Cassidy fell to her death—not that I was being insensitive, but she deserved it. That would be the last time I would ever see Cassidy in my life, and I was thrilled, to be hon
CHRISTIAN’S POV My eyes fluttered open, and immediately I became conscious. Pain surged through my head. I raised my hand slowly to touch my head, and I realised there was a bandage on it. My body ached all through; it was like all the pain I hadn’t felt for the few moments I was asleep was all coming to me at once. The accident replayed vividly: Khalid, the screeching of metals, the flames licking at the car, and Khalid’s shriek of pain as the car engulfed in flames with his legs still trapped while his body was out of the car. Panic seized me as I scanned the unfamiliar surroundings I was in. I figured I was at the hospital; the curtains and the beeping sound of the heart monitor gave that away instantly. “Where’s Khalid, Khalid?" The words fell from my lips in a desperate plea, and my voice was hoarse from the terror that had gripped me in my sleep. The fear that my friend could be dead was the only true friend I ever had. And it would be my fault; I wouldn’t be able to forgive
HAYLEY’S POVIt’s been three days since Cassidy and Rebecca held me captive. I haven’t had food or water and am hungry and tired. My vision is starting to blur as I am slowly losing strength.I slowly closed my eyes. Maybe if I could get a little rest, it would take my mind off the hunger. But then Cassidy splashed me with another round of cold water. I opened my eyes and raised my head, gasping for breath.I shook my head to get the water out of my eye, and the sound of a stainless steel bucket falling on the floor drew my attention to Cassidy, who was standing right in front of me.“I told Christian, he has to meet me here by 1 p.m. Well, would you look at the time? And still no Christian.” She exhaled, almost disappointed.Christian was coming here? I almost felt a sense of relief, but then coming here was a trap. Cassidy was just going to kill us anyway.“Can you see that we can’t trust men and that they are all the same, but don’t worry, I’ll get revenge for us?” she teased, my
72 HOURS CHRISTIAN’S POV The sunlight penetrated the room as I stood by the crack in the window and sipped wine from a small glass. My phone was in my ear when Officer Gavin called. Different things were going through my mind; everything was my fault. From the start, I had always been the problem. Not once have any of Hayley’s mistakes occurred if she even had any. None of them had come back to either haunt me or get me kidnapped. But here I was, putting her in danger yet again because of my bad choices. I just kept proving her mother’s point that I was no good for her. And now that she was carrying my baby, what good could I possibly be to the innocent creature? “Officer Gavin, it’s been three days, and you still haven’t found her,” I complained as I turned away from the window. “What if something else happens to her? I don’t trust those two girls who have her. i…I already told you that I didn’t know where they were. Fuck! If I did, I would drive straight down and get my woman
HAYLEY’S POVI became conscious of the splash of cold water all over my face and tried to jerk up. But my eyes darted down to the rope tied around my legs to the chair, and my hands were tied to the chair behind my back.I struggled to see if I could loosen the rope on my hands, but all my efforts were useless. I exhaled heavily and raised my head to hear someone’s heels hurting the floor.I was sure that it was the person who abducted me. A petite lady with brown hair and blue eyes walked towards me with a bowl, and she smirked.“Re-Rebecca?” I mouthed as my eyes widened in disbelief. She used to be Christian’s secretary. Of course, she would want my head; Christian wasn’t paying her attention anymore. They weren’t having any of that good sex, and then he fired her.I could tell the minute I saw how he looked at her that day when I went to his office. They had something going on, but then I thought it would be Cassidy, but the turns of events were rather shocking.“I’m happy you rem
CHRISTIAN’S POV“Come on, Hayley. Pick up the phone."I mouthed as I paced around in the living room. I reacted stupidly yesterday; I shouldn’t have talked to her like that. I shouldn’t have told her to abort the baby; what stupid suggestion was that? And now that she had left home, I had no idea where she was. I couldn’t reach her; she was picking up my calls, and she still hadn’t come back home.Maybe she was right, and having a baby would change me. It would make my life in a different light. She wanted me to listen to her so badly. It wasn’t like she was forcing the baby on me; she understood even my own plight. She just wanted to talk, to figure out a solution, and I completely shut her down. It was like I was now making my own life more miserable than it already is.“She won’t pick up your calls, Christian." I turned to the sound of Riele’s voice; she was coming from the kitchen holding a glass of booze.“Thanks a lot for the help,” I replied sarcastically. She rolled her eyes.
