“I was just misguided before.”

“Misguided?” His mocking tone made her heart sink.

“I have to apologize to you for everything that happened. I was selfish and didn’t care how much I annoyed or troubled you. Now, I’ve realized it. I won’t cause you any trouble anymore.” Ruby was forced to apologize to him formally.

“How so?” Chris asked back, his voice harsh. When Ruby heard it, a sharp pain struck her left chest.
