Christan pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth, tilted his head, and gave her a look full of impatience. “I told you, I’ve seen plenty of tricks like yours. Drop the act!”

“Hah.” Serena’s last ounce of patience vanished. She stepped into her car without another word.

Bang! The car door slammed shut as she pulled it closed. She reached into the handbag on the passenger seat, grabbed her phone, and dialed 111.

Outside the car, Christan watched her every move with cold eyes, sneering with a crooked grin. “Still putting on a show? There you are—I’ve been looking all over for you!”Xavier forced a polite smile. “Mr. Hutch, welcome to the hot spring resort!”Then he tried to slip past him, but Mr. Hutch grabbed his arm.“Hey, don’t go just yet. I’ve got a big project I want to discuss with you! It wasn’t easy finding you—you’re not going to turn me down for just a few minutes of your time, are you?”Xavier let out a dry laugh. “What are you saying, Mr. Hutch!” He glanced at the time. Though he was anxious, he had no choice but to pause for the moment. “If you have a project to discuss, I’m all ears.”“Haha, great! You’re a straightforward man—let’s talk over there.” With that, he l

“Who is this guy exactly? What’s his name? Can you tell me?”“Well, actually, he’s…” Before Vega could finish her sentence, Serena vaguely heard a man’s voice through the phone. Vega quickly changed the subject, “Serena, something’s come up here—I’ll talk to you later, okay?”Before Serena could respond, the call was already cut off.“Hello? Vega?” Serena called out several times, but all she got in return was the beeping of a disconnected line. Her fingers tightened around the phone. The more she thought about it, the more worried she became.Fortunately, she decided to call Xavier. He picked up quickly, his voice warm and gentle. “Serena, are you back in your room?”“Yeah, just got back.”“Good. Her first thought was—a mugger! The person emerged from the shadows, giving Poppy a once-over before asking, “You have a grudge against Serena, don’t you?”“I...” Poppy felt a chill run down her spine under that gaze, and she subconsciously backed away a few steps. “What’s it to you?!”“Relax,” the woman said soothingly. “I’m not your enemy. Would you be interested in working with me?”“Working together?!” Poppy looked in confusion at the unfamiliar woman draped in jewelry. Her heart began to race uneasily.Who is this woman? She quickly looked up. “N-nothing! Are you done with your speech?”“You didn’t even notice I finished? And you’re saying you weren’t thinking about anything?”Though he was questioning her, his face still wore a smile, and there wasn’t a trace of blame in his eyes.Serena chuckled awkwardly. “Really, it’s nothing. I just ran into someone I know.”“Someone you know?” Xavier raised his head and looked around. “Who? Anyone you know, I basically know
