I didn't know what to say. It was almost like he spoke a different language for a moment. Did I feel uncomfortable? Maybe a little. Did he make my heart beat faster? YES. I could explain why he made me feel uncomfortable; first, he thought I liked Tyler and second, he asked me whether I've skipped class and made out before. These personal things made me feel uncomfortable. However, I couldn't find any logical explanation for my rapid heart rate.

I cleared my throat. "So, how was the book?" I quickly switched to a safer subject.

His eyes lingered for a few seconds before he slid his gaze to the Harry Potter book on the table. "It was good. I'm currently reading The Order of Phoenix."

I nodded. "Are you close to the ending?"

Hunter took the book and flipped it open. He flipped through a few pages as if he was trying to find a certain page. "Apparently not." He showed the page to me. "I'm halfway there though."

"It gets more interesting as you go along," I offered him an encouraging smile.

He smirked. "Yeah, I can tell. Harry seems to have a love interest now."

I laughed. "Yes, he does."

"He's one damn lucky dude!" said Hunter as he shook his head in disbelief.

Out of curiosity, I lifted one brow and asked, "Why's that?"

"He's surrounded by so many girls. Hermione, Cho, there're so many girls in this book," he shrugged. He put the book down on the table. "I think Hermione looks hot and that Cho girl looks cute." He smiled innocently although there was nothing innocent when it came to Hunter Jones. "But I guess I can consider myself lucky too," he quickly added.

"Why? Did you win a lottery or something?" I took the last bite of my blueberry muffin and started to chew.

He shook his head. "No. I'm lucky cos I got to spend time with you today." There was something in his eyes, called it a spark or a glint, that made my breath hitch. I almost choked on my muffin but somehow, I managed.

I took a drink and finished my tea. "Well, I'm neither Hermione nor Cho."

"You're right," he paused and leaned forward, so close that I could feel his warm breath on my face. "You're hot and cute. They got nothing on you, Mey."

That was when I knew that there was no way I could deny his undeniable charm.

* * *

Honestly, I had no idea how on earth those spies in movies gained information without looking like a creep.

"Where do you go to school?" I changed the subject, figured that if I kept asking about Tyler, I'd blow my cover.

He smiled, the same smile that made him look like a good guy but I knew deep down that he wasn't. "North High."

I knew nothing about North High, so I asked the most common thing I could possibly think of, "Did you join any extracurricular activities, any clubs?"

"Yeah, I joined Mathletes, football, tennis, and hockey."

That was a surprise. I wouldn't expect someone like him to join Mathletes. Yet again, what did I know about him? Nothing.

Well, what do you want to know about him, Mey? He's here, you're here, you can just ask him. Again, that voice inside my head tempting me to get violent.

Shut up! I didn't need you to mess with my thoughts any further! It was hard enough for me to resist his charm without you getting on my nerves!

It's not my fault if you find him interesting. It's about time anyway, girl! First kiss, first boyfriend, every sign pointing at him. What are you waiting for?

Waiting for you to shut up! I finally managed to silence the voice in my head. If this voice kept bugging me, I would start to consider checking myself in a psych ward.

"That's amazing," I quickly answered, seeing Hunter was waiting for me to say something.

He shrugged it off, not in a bossy, arrogant way but more like he genuinely thought it wasn't a big deal. "How about you?" He leaned in forward, seemed to be interested in my answers rather than talking about him.

I had to admit, he was the first football jock that didn't take a chance to boast himself right away. "I joined writing club, Science club, and student council." I was fidgeting my fingers under the table. There was something the way he looked at me that made it harder to breathe, made me feel uneasy. "I'm afraid I'm not good with sports." I chuckled nervously.

"I could teach you," his smile seemed genuine as if he really meant what he said. "Which one you'd like to try? Football, tennis, or hockey?" One corner of his mouth turned upward, forming a half-smile that softened his rough features.

It was rude to decline right away, but I knew the answer would still the same. "No, I don't think that's a good idea." I paused and offered him a smile. He looked so disappointed, his smile faltered a little, and there was a part of me that wanted to change my mind. "I'm really bad at sport. I'm weak, even my PE teacher said that sport isn't my thing. It'll be a waste of your time."

He let out a deep chuckle, one that sent shivers through my body. "It's my time to waste, Mey. Besides, it's not a waste of time if it was spent with you."
