Chapter 6

      ”Emily!”

I yelled and ran out of my seat. I ran towards her, my excitement knew no bounds. I couldn't believe I met her, I thought I had lost the chance of ever meeting her.

As soon as I got out, I didn't find her again. I looked through the narrow way she followed, I didn't see anyone.

I looked at the other side again, I didn't find anyone. I was disappointed as well as angry. Where could she have gone just now?! Damn!

I walked back into the class to meet Anjelo. He looked at me like a clown wondering why I ran out in that manner.

     ”I met a girl...”

I started as I sat down.

      ”Oh, she pretty?”

He asked and faced me. A smile popped on his face.

”Fuck it, she is giving me a headache. I can't find her.”

I let out my frustration and roughed my hair.

”You gonna forget about her, dude.”

     Anjelo assured.

He just didn't get it. I seem to fancy that girl and the way she keeps running away from me makes me wanna find her. I'm curious to know her, to know everything about her.

Soon, the lecturer came in and taught. After class, I and Anjelo resumed at the basketball court.

While bouncing the ball, Angelo came closer. He tried to take the ball from me, I turned around and bounced the ball a few times, heading for the basket.

As the ball bounced on the floor, it bounced into my and I picked it up. I faced Angelo who had a fine smile on his face.

I walked closer to him and we both walked to the rows of seats for the audience to watch. Anjelo passed me a smoke, I lit it and looked into space.

”A girl wanna join the basketball team. She's really good”

Anjelo uttered. I looked at him then looked back into space.

”That's just ridiculous. Why would a girl want to join the male team? How many butt holes does she have?” I raised my brows unbelievably.

A pang of laughter escaped his mouth while he hit me playfully. I wasn't joking, why would a girl want to join the male basketball team?!

”Dude, She is actually very good.”

He replied amidst his laughter which I tossed off.

Just then, the court net door flung open and a familiar girl in Boys' short walked in with a backpack hung on one of her shoulders.

I watched her walk inside the court and dump her bag on the floor. She raised her round face and smiled at me or maybe Anjelo.

    Damn it!

I should have known only an abnormal girl would want to join the basketball male team. I shook my head to the side in anger, the cigarette between my lips became sour and I threw it to the floor.

I stood up with a scoff. She didn't look at me rather she fixed her face to the floor like she was shy. How much I hate this girl!

”Don't tell me it's the lesbian, because I don't want to see her” I blurt out like she wasn't right in front of me.

Anjelo stood up in a bid to defend her. However, I didn't give him a chance to as I quickly uttered the unexpected.

”If that abomination is gonna join the team then count me out! ”

I spat and walked towards the door. I stretched my hand to the knob and walked out, slamming the net door as I did.

She even had the gut to show her ugly face. Why would anyone show their faces after doing such shameful acts? I walked to my car in anger and drove to a bar, I need to cool off.

     DIMPLE'S P.O.V

After I helped Stephanie to pull her tight, I treated her wound and drove her home to rest. However, I forgot about the wig on my head and came to school.

Unfortunately, Austin recognized me and I had to run. I went back to Stephanie's dorm, she helped in removing the wig and I came back to school.

I thought of playing a little basketball before going back home. However, I met Austin and the nice guy I met before.

Turns out the guy was his best friend. How can he be best friends which such a cool and nice guy which Austin was clearly the opposite of?

I didn't want to cry at the mean words he said to me. I didn't know why he would judge me without knowing who I am.

It took a while before I noticed the handsome young man that had appeared in my presence. He smiled and waves a little to get my attention.

As soon as I did, I smiled back at him.

”I'm sorry about Austin, he can be a chicken poop sometimes ” He uttered and scratched the back of his head.

”Ha ha" I laughed out loud. It wasn't funny but, I had to soften the tense atmosphere. I bent over and picked my bag which was near my feet.

”I will just leave. I didn't like basketball that much either ” I replied after a long silence which was becoming awkward.

Just as he was about to say a word, he was interrupted by my annoying ringing tone. I picked my phone which was inside my bag. Seeing the caller ID, I smiled once more at Anjelo and walked out to pick the call.

When I heard my mom's sour voice, I knew something was wrong and my dad had done something bad again.

”What did he do this time again?”

I asked as I got out of the school building, avoiding each student that chose to block my way instead of taking their own paths.

”Baby......" She sobbed loudly, my heart leaped in fear and my eyes widened. I didn't know what he had done but my mom had never broken out that way to me, ever. She was always reserved and would tell me to not worry but right now, my mom broke down.

”What did he do Mom?!” My voice raised and I clenched my fist. The students around peeped at me and rolled their eyes at my loud voice but I didn't care.

”Your father......” She explained everything to me with a slurry voice which made me know she had been crying too much.

As soon as she said what he had done, my voice cracked and my muscles got more tensed. I knew it was bound to happen but I didn't think it would be this soon. I just got to college, I planned that after reading well in school, I would get a good job and take my mother out of his house.

Right now, I didn't know what to do. Tears lingered at the corner of my face but I didn't want her to know I was crying.

”Mom, you have to leave that house!” I gathered the courage to speak up. I took my already sweaty hand to wipe the sweats that had formed on my forehead which had roughed lines on them.

”No, I won't leave. I am not a weakling! He is my husband and your father! Leaving would only make me a weakling and I won't let that happen not even after having you. I'm only telling you this because I didn't want it to come as a shock to you. Stay at school and read well. Don't come here! ”

Her voice came out like an order. I knew she was bracing all those insults for me. I knew she was going it all for me but not to this extent.

That man doesn't even care about us. She should leave and stop trying to prove anything to him.

I took the phone away from my ear and kicked my leg In the air. I wished I would see that man and punch his face. I used to love and respect him even after everything he did to us. However, right now, I wished I would punch him.

I wiped the tears that gathered in my face and stopped a taxi that would take me back home. Home to another Austin problem.
