•ELIAS•

"Answer the phone, Catherine..." I groaned as the call took me to voicemail again.

I had been trying to call her for three days, wanting to know where she was and if she was safe, but she returned none of my calls.

I was worried sick and almost on the verge of filing her as a missing person. My mind was racing, trying to understand where she could've gone.

She was happy the last time I saw her and was wearing a beautiful dress, which took me aback for a moment.

If I hadn't told myself that I wanted peace between us, even though she didn't want to be with me, I wouldn't have left that day without finding out where she was planning to go.

But I knew she had met someone.

"My goodness, Cat," Julie snapped behind me as she tried to call her as well. "Where are you? We are worried sick about you here, and we don't know where the hell you are."

"Did she say something to you, Lila?" I asked, turning to her on the couch.

She was a lot quieter and wasn't saying much. Catherine n

•ELIAS•“You will find Catherine at Eclipseborn,” I told Aisha when I called her again, keeping my voice steady even as something tight settled in my chest. “She’s there for a business arrangement, but you must be careful.”“Oh, thank you, Eli,” she answered warmly. “You’re the best guy in the entire world. I wish I could repay you for everything you’ve done for me.”“It’s alright, Aisha,” I replied. “Please don’t tell your sister I was the one who directed you to her location. She would never forgive me.”“Don’t worry,” Aisha promised. “I won’t say a word.”I ended the call, slipped my cell phone into my pocket, and walked into my office, forcing myself to breathe normally.Morning light poured through the tall windows, illuminating the neat rows of books, jars of herbs, and medical instruments that lined the shelves. This room had always grounded me. It was a place of logic and purpose, where pain could be treated and outcomes could be controlled. I hung my coat on the back of the

•MARY•After the call with Aisha, I took my car keys and went to my car in the driveway, and hit the road. Leo was in a council meeting, busy going in circles because he'd never find the truth. Elder Theon had a lot to lose, so even if we no longer got along, he'd never let Luke go, not when he knew what he stood to lose. And Xander, my beloved brother, went with Leo to the council meeting as his Beta, and for his sake, I hoped Leo wouldn't suspect any foul play. Xander and I were close to finally getting everything we had ever wanted, and I didn't want to risk the chance we had.Once Catherine and Dr. Vale were out of the picture, he would be mine again. He would never look past me, never question what we had, never ache for the woman who had torn my life apart and taken my place as if it had always belonged to her.I was his only chance of having a mate if Catherine died. I knew he would hate it at first, would rage and grieve and curse the Moon for binding him to me when his

•CATHERINE•Every part of me wanted to be out of the woods and find a way back to Viktor. He was left a few miles from Crescent, so I hoped he was still there and waiting for me. But as I ran through the forest, the memories of my banishment and roaming around the woods before Elias found me, came crashing into me. For a moment, I stopped running and felt like something or someone was watching me, trying to see if I'd break down and lose control over the memories that threatened to leave me even more broken. It broke my heart to see myself in the pack where they had treated me with contempt and done nothing while I was banished and lost my home. I lost my son, whom I had grown to love with my whole heart, even when I knew he didn’t come from my womb. I tilted my head and looked back at Crescent, and swore one more time that I'd never go there again. My new home was Eclipseborn, and I wanted to find myself there and be accepted as one of them. And with Viktor by my side. When I

•LEO•My body moved on instinct, and I went to my car in the driveway and drove in the direction that the bond was pulling me toward. I arrived at the accident scene thirty minutes later. The smell of wolfsbane hit me first, and I knew the accident wasn't just an accident, but a trap. The rogues were the ones who usually used road spikes and wolfsbane to trap people who used the private road. But from the impact, it seemed as if they were hit by another car, but I didn’t see it. The car was crushed at the front, the hood bent upward, the windshield cracked, and the driver’s side door hung open, and Catherine was unconscious on the passenger seat. Her body was healing from the impact, but the wolfsbane was putting pressure on her. Viktor fluttered his eyes open. “She needs help,” he said with panic in his voice, looking at her. "Please help her. The smell of wolfsbane is weakening her." “I’m taking her,” I answered without hesitation as I reached into the car and carefully slid

•LEO•"Mary's voice?" Elder Lukas gasped. "How is that possible?""Release Luke and take Xander to the dungeons," I instructed the guards, sneering. "He should be there until I am ready to give him a judgment." "Alpha," Elder Theon said as he stood up from his chair. "We can't rely on the voice recordings. The Luna can't be condemned based on a device that went missing five years ago and miraculously appeared in Luke’s house!" "No, please," Xander huffed. "I am innocent! I could never conspire against the pack and the Alpha. You must let me go!" he shrieked as the guards held him back. I slipped the device into my pocket and turned toward the door, because I didn't want it to be destroyed before I could expose everything Mary was doing behind my back. "You can't convict your wife of a crime that you accused your first wife of!" Elder Theon snarled, halting me in my steps. "What do you think people will say when they find out you want to banish your second wife?" I shook my head b

•LEO•When I arrived in the council hall in the morning, all the elders were already seated and waiting for me. I had organized a private meeting with them and Luke because I needed to know the truth so we could find the person who had framed Luke and Catherine. The moment I arrived with Xander and took my seat, two guards walked in with Luke and left him at the center of the room. He looked as if he hadn't slept all night, and it broke my heart because he was still grieving and needed to be with his family. His daughter had also returned from the human territories and wanted to be with her father. "Luke Varric," Elder Theon started. "The council hadn't reached its decision yet, but we want straightforward answers today. We want to know why you were stealing money from us and transferring it to a private account." "Theon," Elder Lukas sneered. "That's not why he's here. This is a sensitive matter and should be treated as such." "Am I not already doing that, but wisely?" He scof
