"Drive!" Viktor shouted to the driver when we reached Chicago. We were so far away from the lycan's border. The state was filled with humans in every way.

We were safe. For now.

"It's okay, Viktor," I said as I leaned forward and placed my hand on his shoulder. "We are safe now. The lycan king won't come after us without a proper plan."

"They took you from me, Cat, and I won't go through that pain anymore," he answered as he turned and looked at me. "I will protect you."

My heart tightened at his words. He loved me, and I didn't want to break his heart. But I also couldn't fathom the thought of him being angry at me if I told him everything that happened between me and Leo.

So, I decided I would keep the truth from him.

"We will stay on my private property until the next morning," he said as the car went down the road in town. "I have a friend here who can help us get enough help when the lycan king comes for us."

I glanced at Leo and swallowed the lump in my throat.
