Ruby

“Damn it! F*ck you, Rolex DeVille!” She screamed her guts out inside the taxi, loud enough that the old chauffeur kept stealing nervous glances at her through the rear-view mirror. Their eyes met briefly, and she snapped.

“What the fck are you looking at? I paid your fcking money!”

Her voice shook with rage. The chauffeur…old enough to be her father, jerked his eyes back to the road immediately, gripping the wheel like it was a lifeline.

Ruby didn’t blame him, she knew she looked unhinged. She felt unhinged. Her whole life felt like it had been ripped apart, dragged through fire, and tossed into a ditch…courtesy of the piece of sh*t she had the misfortune of calling her father.

And Rolex. God, Rolex.

He dared to kiss another girl in public. Public. When he was supposed to be getting married to her. He was a public figure, things like that never escaped the media. Cameras were everywhere. Blogs were quick. Headlines were merciless. And he still risked it…knowingly.

MiaI woke up slowly to the beeping of the machine.I knew where I was. I’d been here too many times. It felt like a sick circle… no, it was a sick circle. Every time I ended up here, it marked the beginning of starting over, waking up to a new life I never asked for.But this time, I wished I never did. I wished I had died on that cold bridge. Or maybe fallen into the sea with him. I was just starting to enjoy life again, starting to feel like maybe I wasn’t cursed… but I had always been unfortunate when it came to love. Always.I opened my eyes slowly, almost blinded by the light above me. My heart thumped painfully as a thought rushed through me, maybe he was saved too. Maybe whoever rescued me pulled him out as well.It was stupid hope, but it was all I had. Then the TV caught my attention.“TRAGIC BEFALLS AS A CAR DISCOVERED TO BELONG TO THE POPULAR BUSINESS ICON, ROLEX DEVILLE, WAS FOUND IN THE SEA. IT WAS DISCOVERED HE WAS DRUNK DRIVING AND DROVE HIMSELF TO HIS DEATH…”My enti

MiaThe car rolled to a stop in front of a silent restaurant, no guests, no staff walking in or out, nothing but darkness behind the glass.“You said we were going to an important event? You lied!” I accused the moment he stepped out. But before I could finish, the entire building bloomed with light, golden and beautiful…like someone snapped magic into existence. My heart froze, then burst with excitement. The entrance glowed with roses lined along the walkway, fairy lights curled up the pillars, and candlelight flickered inside like a hundred tiny stars waiting for me.I turned back to him, breathless. He was watching me, that unreadable intensity softening into a smile as he reached out his hand. Without thinking, I slipped mine into his.“I told you I wanted it to be a memorable day,” he murmured. He leaned in close enough for his breath to brush my ear. “If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise.”Then lower and sinful… “And besides… I plan to f*ck you while no one is watching, in

MiaIt had been months since I got engaged to Rolex, months since everything finally settled into place, months since the chaos was pushed behind us and it became just me, the children, and him. Days that felt like I was finally breathing without fear chasing me from behind.Ruby’s trial had taken place two months earlier. Even now, I sometimes found myself sitting in silence, replaying the moment the judge passed her sentence. She had been framed so perfectly that there was never a chance for her to slip through the cracks. Of course it was Rolex’s doing, though I was relieved that he had not resorted to killing her. A part of me feared he would. But he kept his word about leaving all that darkness behind. The evidence had stacked against her like a wall she couldn’t climb. She was charged with theft after failing to pay the enormous fine, and fifteen years in prison was handed down without hesitation. More evidence surfaced that she had collaborated with a known criminal, making h

RolexI knocked impatiently on the hotel door, my fist thudding harder each time. She was taking too long to respond and with every passing second, my patience thinned and my anxiety sharpened. I felt something was wrong the moment I walked into the house earlier and saw Leo sitting by himself on the couch, his small hands folded in his lap, his face was sad and bored.Leo was never that quiet unless something was seriously bothering him, I got to know the side of him when Fiona came, but seeing him sitting all by himself… I crouched in front of him. “Where’s your mum?”He shrugged, his voice barely above a whisper. “She left.”Those two words stabbed straight into my chest.I stood up immediately and went to find one of the maids. When I asked about Mia, her expression shifted with worry. She told me Mia had left that morning and returned a few hours later looking like she had been crying. She took a few pieces of luggage and left again…this time with Fiona.Hearing that she cried

RubyGetting into her apartment, the first thing she did was pour herself a tall glass of iced red wine. The moment the cold drink touched her tongue, a slow smile spread across her face, victory tasted even sweeter tonight. She had seen Mia. She had seen the look on her face when she walked into that fitting room and saw her wearing her wedding dress. She had seen how Mia almost fell, humiliation washed over her like a wave she could barely stand against.Ruby replayed the scene in her mind with delight.Mia looked lost. Unprepared. Meanwhile, she…Ruby…had been treated like royalty. Attendants surrounding her, adjusting the gown, fussing over her makeup, speaking to her with the kind of respect Mia could never buy. They had looked at her like she was the bride, the one who deserved the spotlight, the love, the wealth.Rolex was already hers. And very soon, everything Mia once held close, her man, heven her peace, would belong to Ruby. She took another sip of wine, walked to her be

“Mia!”The sound of my name tore through the air like a blade, snapping me violently back into reality. My breath hitched and my legs froze. My heart stumbled painfully against my ribs.No.No.No.“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I whispered under my breath, but it came out more like a broken scoff. Fear crawled up my chest at the sight of him…Maxello, in the flesh. The last person I had expected to see. I turned quickly, almost slipping, and started walking away as fast as my legs could move. My pulse roared in my ears. Panic clawed at my throat.Of course he would come after me.“Mia, wait! ” He called after me. I dug into my purse with shaky hands, searching for my phone. If I could just call Rolex, just dial the damn number…I would be fine. I typed half of his name, but before the call connected, Maxello’s hand clamped around my wrist and yanked me backward so hard I gasped.I lost grip of the phone, and he snatched it before it hit the floor.“Don’t tell me you’re actually scar
