Collins

When we got home from the towns Alan was sitting on the front porch of our cabin waiting. I almost didn’t get out of the car … but mom looked over at me and patted my hand.

“Go talk to him Collins. He’s your mate… whatever it is, I’m sure you guys will work it out.” Then she took my baby brother inside to give us privacy. I still sat in the car.

I began thinking what it was like to be the wife of a trainer. Is this what mom has dealt with her entire life? Turning the other way while dad stayed gone all the time.

But Alan wasn’t really a trainer .. he was a beta of his home pack. Still… he’d be busy a lot.

I finally got out of the car… deciding I couldn’t stay in there all night. Although the thought was tempting.

I walked up and sat down on the steps beside him… waiting for him to speak first.

He didn’t… not for a very long time. But I sure as hell wasn’t going to be the one to break first. He knew he was in the wrong.

He finally sighed… big and long and hard.

Alan I had just stepped out of the shower when my sister called. She wanted me to come over to her house. Even though the wars and fighting were in the past. I was still coming to Lorenzo’s pack. I’d just gone home and stayed for two weeks while Collins had gone back to school. She was coming home this weekend and I couldn’t wait to see her. Things had been going great with us. It was a Friday night and I’d just gotten here. But when Emily calls you answer or else she will just bug you to death. So I took my ass over there right after I put clothes on. After the initial hellos to Lo and the kids I went in the kitchen where Emily was sitting at the huge island Lo had built for her. “What’s up?” I asked her as she gave me a hug. “A few things .. actually.” She said. I raised my eyebrows until she continued. “Well first of all.. I wanted you to know.. I’ve been speaking with Ingrid.” She said. That actually shocked me. I knew Ingrid and Collins had spoken. And things had gone w

Collins It had been a few days since the fighting and everyone had gotten home safely. Jenny was staying with me for a while … and we were doing our school work online. Her dad had made that happen for us. Guess Breck wasn’t lying about that particular part. We would return.. we had to… we had finals. And then I had decided not to do summer school .. i would finish up my studies next year and take all my classes then. I was going to enjoy the summer at home with my family and Alan. Jenny too. I knew she’d be visiting me all the time now that she knew everything. She was taking everything well. Sometimes I would catch her looking off into space with her eyes wide and I knew her brain was just trying to accept the fact that everything she thought she knew… wasn’t true. One of the council members that is good friends with Emily told us that he had known Remington for years. He’s the one that sent him to watch Breck. He apologized to me that he couldn’t warn me off from him…. But th

Collins I had gone home nearly immediately after everything with Breck. I brought Jenny with me this time. We needed to spend some time together .. time for her to get used to me— the real me— and why not a road trip to do just that. I took my car and we spent the entire duration of the ride her asking me questions and me answering them honestly. And boy did she have a lot of questions. “Are vampires real?” She asked me. I busted out laughing at that. “Whattttt?? I am new to the supernatural world okay…”. She said. Supernatural … I’d never thought of us that way … but I guess that’s what we were to humans. “How does it feel to have a mate?” She asked me. “Let me ask you something … how did you feel when you met Remington?” I’d had a sneaky suspicion but I wasn’t sure at all. “Oh um.. what makes you ask that?” She said. I raised my eyebrows at her in a ‘don’t even try it’ sort of way. She sighed. “Okay .. I was attracted to him. A lot.” She said. “But what els

AlanThe last couple of days had been a blur. When I came out of the tent .. carrying Ingrid in my arms I saw that Red had been right. They’d gotten the upper hand. The rest of the wolves were sitting on their knees … hands in the air… surrendering. We’d rushed Ingrid to the nearest pack so she could be seen by the doctor there. Apparently the council had already told them there was a possibility they’d need several beds. Out of the thirty or so that had gone to war with us… two had died. And another ten were severely injured. And the rest of us were injured … but not bad enough to stay in the pack hospital. We gave Ingrid the antidote for the silver on the way, hoping it would kickstart the healing and thank goddess… it did. The pack doctor said if we hadn’t done that.. she might not have made it. I was losing my mind not being able to talk to Collins. But they wouldn’t let us call home. They said just in case … whatever that meant. Her dad was fine … he got a little beat up but

Collins Breck opened his jaws to clamp his long teeth back into my neck again. But… before he could do it. He was suddenly .. gone ..I turned my head to see what happened. I could see him and another wolf fighting. Remington? No. Remington was still fighting another wolf. But he’d killed one of them. Someone else was here. Someone else came to help. I turned my head back to Jenny. She was on the ground holding her arm and crying. She started to come to me but the sudden overly loud growls and snarls from the wolves fighting got our attention. Then Remington was beside me. “Collins … you need to shift so I can see your neck.” He must’ve killed the other wolf too. I tried to shift back but I didn’t have the energy. I needed to lay there for a second. He looked over at Jenny and got up suddenly. He walked over to his shredded clothes and tore a piece of his shirt. He brought it back to wrap her arm with it. Then he brought the other part to me and held it to my neck. I suddenly

Collins I turned back towards Breck. At least Jenny was safe - well. For the moment. I had to protect her. If that means I had to lose her .. it was still worth it because she was alive. Breck was laughing and shaking his head. “Thought you didn’t want Jenny to know about you Collins. You didn’t want to put her in danger … isn’t that what you said? Because it’s dangerous for humans to know about us. Another one of those old as time laws the packs have … pretty stupid if you ask me.” He mumbled. I turned my head towards Jenny. “Jenny. Go to the car .. wait for me.” I told her. But she was in so much shock she couldn’t even move. “Jenny doesn’t need to leave. I’m sure we can find a use for her.” Breck said. “You will not be finding any use for her. She is going to leave.” I repeated. But Breck just laughed. “We’re the ones who’s leaving Collins. If it means that much to you.. Jenny can stay here. Wait … no. I think I want her to come too. There’s a lot of unmated wolves where
