Camille

“What’s with you and the Wolf King?” Olivia asks me while I am trying to decide what to eat.

“What?”

“It’s just your conversation earlier. I couldn’t help but overhear the two of you talking.” She apologizes, but it’s not her fault.

“It’s nothing. I just asked him to look into something for me.” I glance at her, then continue looking at the menu.

“Cami. I don’t have to tell you this. Leonardo and Salvatore may be brothers, but Leo is not someone you want to get involved with. Salv—”

“I’m fine. I’m not getting involved with him. He owed me a favor, and I called in. Nothing more,” I cut her short. But I can see in her eyes that she doesn’t believe me, and I don’t know if I should be offended or just let it be.

“I need him to look into something for me, and I don’t want Tore to be involved in it. That’s all,” I say to her, picking the fried fish and chips.

“I should probably get some fish instead and make fish curry for El.” I tap my lips with my finger. “Do you think Tore

Camille“El!” I shout, running towards her as she stares up at me, her eyes shimmering with tears. Her fingers are covered in dark mud and blood, but my heart stops when I notice she is just in a blanket.“I…” “It’s okay, baby.” I wrap my arms around her, pulling her into my arms, and she sobs loudly, hugging me tight. My heart is racing so fast, I don’t know what to do. Please, God, let it not be what I think it is. “We need to get her to a doctor!” I scoop her up in my arms, but Tore steps in. “Let me carry her,” he offers, but my heart races.“Cami… I won’t hurt her.” He assures me, but I shake my head. I’ll hold her until I know she’s safe.“I’ll carry her.” “Cami…”“Please, Tore. Let’s not argue about this,” I whisper, and he nods his head before walking with me back to the car. El keeps crying and holds me tighter.“Leila…she…”“It’s okay. She will be fine.” I assure her. “Right, Tore?”“Yes, she’ll be. We have the best healers to look at her,” he says, but I doubt anyone ca

Salvatore“I fucked up, Brother. I fucking ruined everything.” I rubbed my eyebrows, staring at the floor.“Well, you fucking did.” I lift my gaze to him. My eyebrows furrowed, and my jaw tightened.“I told you it was a stupid idea, but no, you just had to do it your way. Now you’re hurting not only her but Camille as well.” “The fuck, Paul? You should—”“I should tell you the truth. That’s why I am your Beta. It’s why—”“I know. I just don’t know. I don’t know what to do with everything that’s happening. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. She was supposed to be—”“Be what? A woman who follows every rule?” He chuckled dryly, got off the chair, and walked towards me. “You can’t help yourself with a damsel in distress.”“Fuck you!” It’s the only words I can say about that. But he bursts out laughing.“You shouldn’t have touched her. Some women have this way of…” he pauses, shaking his head as if trying to shake off the memory.“Speaking from experience?” I arch an eyebrow, and he sco

Camille I stared out the window, thinking back to what Jenna just told me. Once I got out of the car, I found Tore waiting by the entrance to the house. “Gods, Camille. Where the fuck have you been?” he asks, coming towards me, his eyes filled with a glint of concern. When I left Jenna’s party, I asked Olivia to take me somewhere where I could get some air. I didn’t want to come back here and then end up staring at the ceiling for hours. “Around” “Around? Fuck wasn’t I clear about you doing this? How could—” “Could I what? Am I a prisoner? Can’t I go somewhere and get some air?” I asked, my eyes roaming around his face and chest, rising and falling. “You can. but—” “But what? I should have gotten permission?” I asked, raising my eyebrows, and he inhaled sharply, rubbing his eyebrows. “You know you don’t need my permission. I just want to make sure you’re safe. I could have sent other people to go with you,” he said. “Well, I’m back home, so no need to worry about it.” I brush

CamilleI have never been a fan of parties and clubbing, but today I had to try to look the part and entertain this absurd idea.“Ready?” I shouted for Olivia, who was still in the bedroom waiting for me to try on the dress I was going to wear.“Yep. Come on out!” She shouted; her voice laced with excitement. I sighed heavily, smoothing my short dress. It was a backless, burgundy spaghetti dress that complemented my figure, hugging my curves in all the right places.“Okay. I’m here,” I stepped out, my hair combed to the side., Lips pressed together as I waited for her to say something.“Wow.” She whispered, her eyes sparkling as I waited for her to say something other than ‘wow’.Her eyes trailed down my body, mouth wide.“What? Should I—”“No. You look perfect, I’m even afraid Salvatore will go around killing people for looking at you,” She teased, coming closer to where I was standing.“Just one last detail,” she said, opening the box in her hand. “I know you don’t want this colla

Camille“I think the blue would be a better choice. What do you think?” Olivia asked, bringing me back from my train of thought.“What?”“I’m saying for your gown for the ritual. I think blue would go well with—”I cut her off before she went on. “Any color is fine, really. Just pick whatever color you can,” I said, getting up from the chair, walking towards the window. “Is everything okay?” She follows me, putting down her tablet.“Yes. Just exhausted.” I glanced at her, then shifted my attention to Eloise, who was climbing on the ledge, and then jumped.“You know what? Let’s do this later.” I said, turning to go pick up my phone and cardigan“Cami”“I know what you’re going to say. But I’m fine, Livy. Really,” I offered her a smile, then made my way out of the bedroom, making my way towards the staircase. I hurriedly got down the stairs two at a time, and when I got to the bottom, I turned on the corner, but I bumped into something hard. Something like—human muscle.I lifted

Salvatore“Will you talk to me?” I asked her two days later while she was applying her makeup. She paused, placing the brush on the table, then turned to me.“What do you want, Salvatore?” She asked, her voice calm, yet it felt cold.“I want us to talk. I want…” I paused, walking towards the chair, then crouched in front of her. She tilts her head, watching me, but her eyes are empty. There’s no warmth for me in them. There’s no sparkle that I have always looked forward to seeing every time.“There’s nothing to talk about. You wanted them to approve of your position, and they have.” She deadpanned.“Cami”She pushed her chair back, getting up to her feet. “You know what’s funny about this?” She paces around. “If you had told me that I would go through that kind of torture. I would have.” She takes a step back, and I can feel how every wall that I broke down over the last couple of weeks is slowly coming up.“I would’ve gone through the torment willingly. I would have done it.
