Chapter 6
Selena's POV I had expected my breathing to quicken and my heart to race when I read the wordings on the sign but surprisingly, none of that happened. I knew about Moonstone pack and I knew that I had every right to fear the sign as the rogue but I felt no fear. Their Alpha, Alpha Zane, was ruthless and he ruled the pack with an iron fist, killing every rogue that made it to his pack boundaries. Something told me to turn back, but I knew the rogue was still out there, waiting for me to step out. And besides, where was I to go? My fate was basically the same any other way, so I couldn't care less about what was going to happen to me. My stomach still rumbling and my throat parched from my lack of water, I turned from the fence and ventured deeper into the territory, fully aware that I was venturing into the lions den. The trees around me stretched endlessly, their crooked branches causing the shadows around me to be contorted and misleading. I had never felt so watched before. After what felt like hours of walking and not finding anything to eat, my legs finally gave in. The exhaustion that I had been pushing back for so long now caught up with me all at once, causing me to fall down on my knees. My vision blurred as my body, too weak to continue, began to shut down. I collapsed onto the cold ground with a loud thud, causing all the air in my lungs to get knocked out. As I began to drift into unconsciousness, I vaguely registered the sound of rustling leaves and the presence of someone-or something-approaching. _________________ The soft earth beneath me sent cold shivers through the bare part of my body, causing my eyes to flutter open. My stomach churned immediately, just as consciousness seeped in, the birds chipping and burbling of water on trees, though distanced, registered on my mind. "Damn it," I screamed as the pain in my stomach became more intense. Looking around, I discovered that it was already midday. I had slept for hours!! The rustling of leaves by the distance quickly caught my attention. At first it was subtle, a faint crunching of leaves, but then it continued. Trying to get to my feet, I groaned, the muscles on my feet protesting. I fell back on the grass, unable to muster enough strength to move around. Suddenly five massive werewolves burst from the underbrush, their eyes fixed on me, eager to attack. "She's a rogue," one of them said to the others. I wanted to protest to this but I just couldn't muster enough strength to speak up. It was at that moment that I realized that nothing I said would make them believe me. "Yes indeed, she'll be good to kill, but a chase from her won't be bad at all," said another, his eyes glowing yellow. I was too weak to respond to them, still I tried anyway,. But once I opened my mouth to speak, the pain from my abdomen got intense, causing me to close them back and groan softly. So I just sat there, watching them, noticing the differences in their eye colour. "Quick, run," one of them commanded, his spear focused on me in a way to scare me to my feet. Sitting still, I just looked up to them pleadingly. The young werewolf in me had to survive. "Well then, you're no fun," the wolf who had spoken first said, his tone etched with disappointment as he stretched his spear towards me, ready to throw it in my direction. Closing my eyes and breathing hard, I prepared for my last. "Wait, do not lay your hands on her," I heard a voice from a distance say, accompanied by the rustling of leaves and trumping sounds. Slowly opening my eyes, I looked up to see my savior and found a large wolf on a horse that slowly trotted towards me. He had an authoritative look, one that sent shivers down my spine. From the way he carried himself, I could tell he was their leader of some sort. "She's a rogue, my Lord. She deserves no mercy," the wolf pointing his spear at me said with a low growl as he brought the spear closer to my chin. "She doesn't deserve to live. And she chose not to rub either. Let's kill her here and now." The wolf on the horse stared down at his soldiers, his golden eyes narrowing slightly. "Do you question my command, Gara?" he asked, his voice low but still carrying a weight of authority that made the werewolf with the spear immediately lower his weapon and step back. "No, Alpha Zane." My breath caught in my throat the moment I heard that name. My gaze shifted from the werewolf, who now had his head bowed in submission, to the Alpha, whose eyes had drifted to meet mine. His golden eyes locked on mine and I felt the churn in my stomach increase. Those eyes, they were magnificent, yet held some kind of power that would immediately bring one to their knees the moment they saw it. "Why... why do you spare her, my Lord?" the werewolf asked, his head still bowed down and his voice filled with hesitation. Alpha Zane dismounted his horse slowly, his eyes never leaving mine. I couldn't look away, even though every instinct within me screamed at me to. He walked towards me gracefully and knelt down to my level. His intense gaze softened just slightly as he began to study my face. "That is not for you to know, Gara," the Alpha whispered, his voice barely above a a whisper as he stood back to his feet. "Search the perimeter for any other rogue." A lot seemed to be happening in such a short space of time and I lost count of everything that occured at that point. Slowly, the pain in my abdomen increased, and I was soon knocked out of consciousness again. "Return to the pack," I heard someone say faintly as I slowly lost complete consciousness of my surrounding. "I'll bring her with me."Karen's POV"Well spill it you!!" Rowan roared, already getting desperate. The guard stammered. "Getting to the gates I saw another letter the same paper making with the last... "I pulled it from his hands and glanced through it before he finished."Meet me at the Crescent valley of blood or I'll expose you all!! You stole her powers Karen, now your wolf is insane. If you want to get back to your r former state, meet me there by dusk. Perhaps the healing power would return... just perhaps."I read it loud." The powers Karen, think about it!! We'd kill the bloody messenger as soon as we get what we want, and this all would end!!" Rowan exclaimed as soon as I dropped the letter." Then what about the attack? " I asked him. Something just didn't feel right about all this, and I couldn't point it out.Rowan scoffed, a cloud of desperation hovering around his eyes. "What damn attack Karen? With the healing powers back we would rule the werewolf world and beyond!!" he roared, his claws sh
Karen's POVHaving been in Redmoon pack for five days, hunting and eating with them, I was beginning to feel sick of it all.I waited, day after day and night after night for news from the party of packs that attacked Moonstone pack, but nothing was coming forth."Battles take days, sometimes weeks," Rowan would always say. " Give them time Karen. Moonstone pack would be in our palms in just a matter of days, Selena dead!!"I always felt relieved whenever he talked about the death of Selena, but on the morning of the fifth day, I couldn't take it anymore."We need to get to them Rowan!! I can't stand this anymore," I said to him as soon as I got to his chamber.Still with his pipe, he turned his attention to me and puffed."Tell me Karen. What chance does Moonstone pack have to win the war waged against them? " he asked, taking in some more from the pipe.I shot a gaze at him, trying all I could to restrict the joyful smile that tried to form on my face."They have no chance Rowan...
Karen's POV"You have no goddamn right to attack any one here!!"That was the first sound I heard, my head spinning like a canon ball had hit me hard.I slowly opened my eye, me head throbbing with a a dull headache."You heard me right you bitch!! Never must you attack anyone here in Redmoon pack, " the voice repeated, louder than the last. I was still trying to open my eyes but I felt a surge of confusion as I did so.The voice was familiar, and as I struggled to make out who it was, I finally looked up.It was Rowan. What was he up to this time, I wondered within me.His face was twisted in a snarl and as he raised his hand, my eyes dilated."You!!!" he started to roar as his hand descended towards me.As if in cue, my wolf stirred almost immediately and before his hand could get to me, I had already grabbed it in a quick reflex.Fully awake, I roared at him. "Don't you dare!!" I got up from what I figured out to be a bed and stared at him, wondering where all that came from.My
Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.
Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening
Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he
