Mated to the mafia?

VICTORIA

"Flip the BBQ over!" Grandma yelled at me.

It was already evening and we are out here, barbecuing meat on a grill.

This was one thing I loved about visiting my grandma; I always got the chance to explore her wide garden filled with berries and cherries, and enjoy the savory taste of her home-made evening barbecue.

I went to do as she said and returned back to continue listening to her tales about Lycans as I don't really know much about Lycans cause they seem far-fetched to me and are few.

"And then, there's the Alpha of Solitaire Mystic pack," she announced, shifting from the scary story of Lycans.

"What about him?" I asked; we laid on the soft grass and gazed at the huge mountain from faraway that overlooked Grandma's old cottage house.

"The pack was once situated in this village hundreds of years back but now, the leading pack Alpha, Alpha Brendon has spread the pack throughout the city of Los Angeles." She sighed as she spoke.

"Yeah I've heard about him grandma. During a gala festival I attended with my parents while I was a teen, I managed to see his face partly. I heard he's really dangerous and never lets go of his prey, brr..." I shook my head lightly, feeling scared of the thought of seeing him alone.

"Uh-huh, and he's remained the only werewolf I feared in my years as a pack witch. Prey or not, he is tagged as a man who never forgives," she further explained to me as I listened.

Alpha Brendon, the tyrannical and merciless Italian Mafia Boss that runs the Solitaire Mafia organization which ruled the whole city of Los Angeles.

Ruthless and cruel, he does his business in a dirty way and never considers the emotion of anyone or anything.

He was the type of person I wished never to cross paths with in my already 'sorry' life.

Grandma immediately stood to her feet and dusted her clothes. "I guess your luck has been waiting for today because you just came out of coma on a full moon. It's almost time so be ready to shape-shift."

"Huh?!" I exclaimed as I looked up and saw the moon's almost completing a full circle.

Even my wolf, Rina, was beaming ecstatically within me to take over. "It's been so long I went for a long run! Purrr!" Rina purred and I could feel her surfacing.

"How about you grandma? Aren't you gonna wolf out or something?" I asked all of a sudden, taking her aback.

She scoffed, "have you forgotten I was once a pack witch? Of course I can control my wolf on full moons with spells!" She put forth.

Oh, I almost even forgot; Grandma Lily was a very powerful pack witch that loved nature and preferred being in solitude. So, she chose to stay in this village and join a small pack here–Zinc pack– as an elder, rather than live in the city with humans.

She is old but really active and powerful in everything; I'm sure there's a lot I need to learn from her.

"Howwwwl!" I heard an indistinct howl from afar and knew transformations had begun. More howls came and my first instinct was to run into the woods and I did just that.

Gradually, I began to wolf out as Rina took control over me and my running turned to the fast galloping of a wolf.

Hours into the hunting, I saw a very mighty black wolf also hunting in the woods.

It's height soared over Rina's making me feel like a kid and it's pitch red eyes pierced into my blue ones.

Without warning, Rina immediately charged at him and they began fighting, pouncing and rolling on each other.

My weak self couldn't take it anymore as it overpowered me and I blacked out.

**

*Cough* *Cough*

I woke up from sleep with series of coughs. My body still felt sore and weak from all that fighting and pouncing. I looked round the room I was in but it was nothing like my grandma's cottage.

Infact, the soft bed, bright white walls and luxurious decor of the room alarmed me that I was in a modern day mansion.

Abruptly, I jumped off the bed immediately as the thought of being kidnapped heightened my senses.

But whose house am I in?

I sat up on the bed and looked the room, a strong musky scent mixed with tinges of lavender filled my nostrils and I inhaled it.

I remember fighting with a wolf last night and the aftermath was really crazy. I bet Rina is still wounded, that's why she's buried herself deep inside my mind.

My eyes wandered round the room that exuded masculinity and fell on an item on the bedside table.

It was a huge sword; I scrutinized it and saw an inscription ‘B’ on the sword. “Who's B?” I mused. It looked like a customized sword and whoever brought me here should be the owner.

Without hesitation, I picked the sword and took it with me as I went out of the house. ‘It will surely be useful’ I thought aloud even though I've never handled a sword before.

Coming out, I saw only big trees. I looked back at the building and concluded it was only a villa cause no sane human or werewolf will have a house situated here, deep in the woods.

I walked into the woods not knowing where I'm heading to cause it looks like a circle filled with trees.

After what seemed like forever, I saw someone. He was shirtless and tattooed with shoulders as broad and sturdy as a tank and height well above 185cm. He was backing me and looking up at a tree.

Sensing danger coming from him, I immediately unsheathed the sword and pointed it at him and I heard him let out a deep, husky scoff.

"Who are you?!" I asked, standing my ground and refusing to be intimidated by his imposing aura.

Slowly he turned back to face me, revealing a drop dead gorgeous face, a smirk playing on his thin red lips.

I found myself drooling absentmindedly as he walked closer to me.

"Are you actually wielding the sword at me or just nudging me to take it back?" He scoffed derisively with the most baritone voice I've ever heard.

Even with his sarcastic tone, why did I find it sexy?

‘No, no! Victoria you're losing your senses!’ I scolded myself.

His musky, yet mixed with lavender scent emanated the air and gave me a feeling of safety as I brought the sword down.

"Mate!" All of a sudden, Rina growled in my head with happiness.

My brows raised high and my jaws dropped. "What?!"

At the same time, my memory sparked and I finally remembered where I'd once seen this ethereal face from.... Alpha Brendon?!

Hold on a sec, my mate is Alpha Brendon? Of all werewolves?

He glared at me with his deep grey eyes as vivid flecks of gold swirled in them making me gulp hard.

"I..." I began.

"Did you sleep well? And are there still injuries from the fight we had?" He cut me off, changing his deadly aura to calmer one all of a sudden. He crouched and picked the sword from the ground, caressing it with his long, slender fingers.

"You shouldn't touch all things you see. The sword's made partially of silver and could have hurt you," he added.

"I... I think I'm okay." I replied, still in shock.

I couldn't help but feel nervous in front of this man; I heard that he was tagged as the strongest werewolf in his teenage years even till he ascended the throne of Solitaire Mystic pack and now. Rumor even had it that he murdered his family in cold blood.

But on a second thought, I think the moon goddess just gave me the most perfect mate ever. He was strong while I was weak, and I urgently need someone to train me before I can begin my revenge.

He stood up and once again, his height soared over mine just like his wolf soared over Rina. I wanted to curse the goddess for giving me such a short height.

"Your thirst for revenge will only end at nothing without strength and skills. From tommorow, you will begin training at the Solitaire training ground. But for that to happen, you need to be a member of the mafia organization." He declared all of a sudden, leaving me to petrify with shock.

How did he know about my plan of revenge? How did he even know I was weak? Does that mean he knows who Mike is?

"What do you know about me?" I asked in frustration.

He only scoffed as he bent forward to lean on me. "There are some things better kept a secret, little pup," he chuckled and I glared at him for calling me a 'pup'.

He chuckled again seeing my expression and straightened up. "Besides, crying by a cliff and sulking over betrayal, what else did you expect apart from a fall? Too bad, I wasn't fast enough to have saved you. Tch... " He scoffed and started walking away in fast paces, leaving me to my shock as I tried to comprehend his words.

How did he know about my fall two years ago?! And the betrayal? Wait, was he the unknown person by the tree?

I turned back in a spun and he's already far from me. "Hey wait! Alpha Brendon!" I ran after him.

Brendon's car screeched and came to a halt at his towering mansion. I scanned everywhere and saw that I was back to the city but not New York anymore, it's now Los Angeles. Brendon took long strides into the mansion and left me stranded outside.

I took my time to look round the mansion and everywhere gave off a masculine vibe. Only black and white was used for decoration; I almost felt I'm in a graveyard or something.

"What a weird mate we've got," I told Rina.

"Shut it, don't insult my mate." Rina retorted and I rolled my eyes at her.

The only thing that made me feel safe was the beautiful flowers in their vases which scented like roses.

But nothing scented nicer to me than his thick musky scent. I guess that's one of the effect of the mate bond.

I saw a dark hallway that led to what seemed like a prison cell. I wanted to ignore it but my feet drew me there and I stepped into the hallway.

I saw two men tied up in chains inside a cell as they pleaded for their lives.

"Huh!" My hands flew to my mouth as I gasped and froze at the spot.

My instincts told me to run but as I turned back to leave, Brendon's face appeared in front of me. I flinched again and my back hit the prison door.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He hit the iron bars of the prison cell behind me hard; demanding coldly as his dark grey eyes bore fiercely into mine.

"Errr... I..." I was at total loss for words as I swallowed hard.

"I hate it when people meddle in my affairs. I already warned you not to touch anything you see so respect my decision. I've arranged for you to start training at the pack house; when I'm done with my unfinished business, we're leaving."

He chillily spat and entered into the prison cell, then banged the door furiously.

As he left, I finally released the breath I was holding and gasped for air.

What was that all about?

Am sure it involves something concerning mafia organization; that's the main reason I hate mafias and the way they run their businesses.

Always involving brutality and extremely gore scenes in their dealings.

Sighing, I walked out of the place and suddenly remembered Grandma Lily. How's she doing now? I ran into the woods and wolfed out, leaving her back at the village.

I need to tell her I'm away for now before she starts looking for me but how?

Thankfully I know her number by heart so the only thing left was the phone to use and call her.

A thought came to my head and my face brightened. "Brendon's phone!" Rina said.

Since Brendon was away doing his so-called business, I flew into action. I mounted up the flight of spiral stairs to the master bedroom which I guessed will be his.

But suddenly, I halted. His warning words that I should stay off his property echoed in my head. The anger on his face, his furious eyes...

No! I slapped myself and entered the room, sighted his phone on the reading desk and finally, I'm texting grandma.

But suddenly, I heard a voice in my head and my grandma's face appeared in my head. I figured out that she's using the mind link to communicate with me.

"Victoria, how's your stay there?" She asked.

Tears almost came out of my eyes. "Grandma I'm okay... Wait how do you know where I am?"

"Shhh, don't ask too many questions. Besides he might catch you so take to your heels!"

I finally got to my senses and realized he might soon be back. I need to leave now if not I might get caught red-handed.

In attempt to rush away, my hands mistakenly pushed some files to floor as I quickly bent down and arranged them.

My eyes suddenly caught a document on the floor that involved Mike's pack as I frowned.

"What does an Alpha of a pack in another city has to do with him. Does he have enemity with them? "

The sound of footsteps shook me off my thoughts and I proceeded to run away.

The door flew open immediately and a huge guy with blood splattered on his face and shirt, entered the room.

"What are you doing here?!" He exclaimed as I jolted in surprised.

'But at least it's not Alpha Brendon' I thought.

But before I could breath my sigh of relief...

"Beta John, who is in my room?" The stone-cold Alpha, Brendon emerged from the entrance.
