Aveline

I woke slowly, the silky sheets twisted around my legs like vines. My head ached. My heart ached more.

For a moment, I forgot where I was—until I inhaled.

Matteo.

His scent was everywhere—masculine, earthy, sharp with spice and something darker. It was embedded in the bed, in my hair, on my skin. I hated how good it smelled. Like warmth wrapped in leather and smoke. Like temptation.

I buried my face in the pillow, instinctively breathing him in again.

What was wrong with me?

“You always sniff things that don’t belong to you?”

My head shot up.

Matteo stood by the doorway, arms crossed, tattoos peeking from beneath the rolled sleeves of his black shirt. His eyes held a spark of mockery.

I bolted upright, startled—only to realize I was still naked.

A curse slipped from my lips as I grabbed the sheet and yanked it up to my chest, cheeks flaming.

His smirk deepened. “Relax. You’ve got nothing to hide. In fact…” His gaze swept over me with maddening slowness. “That body’s going to b

  • The Biker Alpha’s Hated Mate   CHAPTER SIX

AvelineI sat curled in the corner of the too-soft bed, the fading sunlight slicing through the window blinds like prison bars. My fingers dug into the sheets, trying to anchor myself as my thoughts ran in circles. My life was over. There was no other way to describe it.I had been hunted for a decade, stripped of family, safety, and any semblance of peace. And now, in a cruel twist of fate, I was shackled to the very monster who’d spent those ten years dreaming of my death.Matteo Cruz Valentino. The Biker Alpha. El Lobo. My mate.I clenched my jaw as the memory of that kiss burned behind my eyes. It had been fire and ice, chaos and control. He didn’t kiss me like someone fulfilling a bond. He kissed me like someone trying to punish me—with tongue, teeth, and fury.I could still feel his hands in my hair. Still taste the bitterness of his hate. And now I was supposed to what? Stand next to him while he pretended to claim me in some twisted mating ceremony? The knock on the door start

  • The Biker Alpha’s Hated Mate   CHAPTER FIVE

MatteoMy fists slammed against the stone wall of my private quarters, cracking the surface and sending dust down to the floor in a soft cloud. I barely noticed the blood dripping from my knuckles, hot and sharp. It didn’t hurt. I wished it would.I wanted pain.Pain made sense. But this? This sick, burning ache in my chest? This need that had crawled out of nowhere the second I touched her lips with mine? That wasn’t pain. That was poison. The bond was sinking its claws deeper, threading through my veins like wildfire. I could feel her even now, trembling a few floors beneath me. I hated that I knew she was crying. Hated that I could sense her breath hitch, that her despair hummed through the mate connection like a live wire. She was the last person I should have bonded with.Aveline Carrington. The final rotting leaf on the tree that strangled my family’s legacy. And now she was mine?Fate was a cruel bitch with a wicked sense of humor.A knock sounded at the door. I didn’t answer.

  • The Biker Alpha’s Hated Mate   CHAPTER FOUR

AvelineBy the time we reached the compound, I’d lost all sense of where we were. The forest had given way to a stretch of long, winding asphalt and empty night roads. Eventually, concrete swallowed everything—high black gates, steel fences lined with motion sensors, and biker guards posted like statues in the dark. The place screamed danger. Wolf territory disguised under the mask of a biker syndicate.Matteo didn’t speak as the gates opened for us. The men guarding the entrance dipped their heads in submission, though their eyes flicked to me with open curiosity and thinly veiled judgment.Aveline Carrington. The curse in the flesh. He parked in front of a long, low-slung building made of brick and steel, glowing faintly with amber light. A massive wolf emblem was etched into the iron doors. The Bloodshade crest. Matteo’s legacy. His fortress.I dismounted stiffly, every muscle in my body sore from riding tense and refusing to touch him.Matteo dismounted after me and jerked his hea

  • The Biker Alpha’s Hated Mate   CHAPTER THREE

AvelineFor a few seconds, everything around me disappeared. The forest, the fallen branches beneath my feet, even the weight of Briar’s body pressed against mine—none of it felt real. Only him.The man standing before me with eyes like burning gold. The man whose aura had nearly crushed my wolf into submission. The man who, for ten years, had hunted me like a ghost in the night. And fate—fate—had the audacity to bind me to him?I felt it the moment it hit him. Like a switch being flipped, like a storm breaking through a silent sky. His entire body stilled, and the look on his face changed. Just for a second.Pain. Shock. Confusion. Then rage. So much rage. And the pull? The bond?It latched onto me without permission. Without mercy. I could feel the invisible thread tying us together, wrapping around my chest like a chain. His scent crashed into my senses—dark leather, musk, something wild and ancient. And my wolf… she stirred.Mate, she whispered. Mate.I staggered back, heat prickl

  • The Biker Alpha’s Hated Mate   CHAPTER TWO

MatteoThe scent of motor oil and metal made my nose wrinkle in disgust. This was the place?A pitiful mechanic shop tucked in the ass-end of nowhere?I stepped over a discarded wrench and shoved open the garage doors with enough force to make them scream on their hinges. My boots echoed across the concrete floor, followed by the thud of my men dragging in a wheezing, red-faced human behind me.Clyde Braxley.Debt collector. Scum. Informant. He was barely standing now, held between two of my wolves. Blood trickled from his nose, and one of his eyes was already swelling shut.Good.I turned toward him, my voice low but sharp. “Are you absolutely sure this is the place?”He gulped, the sound wet and pathetic. “Y-Yes. I swear. This is where she works. The Carrington girl.”“The last of that cursed bloodline?”He nodded quickly. “She’s been hiding here for years. Goes by a fake name. But it’s her. I promise.”I looked around the empty shop. Everything was in place. Half-disassembled bikes
