Chapter 3

Dawn's P.O.V

The next morning while I was getting ready I wasn't really looking forward to going back. When Nick and I got back from Starbucks I just had a quick dinner before going straight to sleep. Worst birthday ever.

I sighed and entered the kitchen where the boys where having breakfast "Morning" I said and took my seat before digging in my breakfast "Morning to you too." They both replied. We were done eating our breakfast when Nick handed me a lunch box "Here. I made you some lunch just in case your boss doesn't allow lunch today as well." I thanked him and we were on our way to my office.

-That Friday

I opened my eyes and stretched as I lay on my bed. The whole week at work has been torture.

Ash kept me working the whole time and I wasn't even given a lunch break! Everyday turned out to be the same routine.

I get up, have breakfast, go to the office, secretly have the lunch Nick and sometimes Vincent made for me, returning from work exhausted and going directly to sleep. I sighed as I looked at the clock on my side table. 8:30 AM. Shoot! I quickly jumped out of bed and got ready as fast as I could.

I ran out of my room and started banging the boys room "VINCENT! NICK! ITS 8:45! WE'RE GONNA BE LATE! GET UP!!" I screamed as I ran to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for us. The boys rushed in the room and started digging but suddenly Vincent stopped.

"Wait. Why are we rushing Nick? We don't have a boss" Vincent said smirking at me and I glared at him. Yeah they don't have a boss since they are the boss. Where Vincent runs a successful computer and telecom company, Nick is the owner of a well known business franchise.

You may be wondering why I didn't get a job with them but the thing is that I don't want to feel like I'm using their friendship, even though they've tried convincing me to work for them. 

"Fine. Don't hurry. If I get sacked Vincent I promise I'll tell Olivia not to kiss you for a month" I said and Vincent's smirk dropped. Olivia has been my best friend since we were in kindergarten and she is also now Vincent's girlfriend.

"Nick finish your food fast!" Vincent exclaimed and I laughed. "Bye guys!" I said as I rushed out of our car and ran for the building. I heard them call me but I knew I couldn't since I was already 10 minutes late and I knew that this might just be my last day here.

Ash and I have done nothing but exchange nasty words whenever we get the chance. The last time we talked he threatened to fire me.

No doubt he'd do just that today. I sighed as I got into the elevator. I started thinking of getting a new job while the elevator took me to my office. Just as I entered my office, the telephone started ringing and I rushed towards it.

"Hello?" I asked and heard a familiar Irish accent on the other end "So you did come on time even though I am not there." He remarked and I inwardly gave a sigh of relief. He doesn't know I was late. Thank God! "Well of course I did." I retorted "Of course you did." He replied in a mocking tone "I've left work for you on my table. Get it done by today. Even if it takes you to finish it by midnight. I don't want to be disturbed today." He said and before I could protest, he hung up.

I groaned out loud and grudgingly went to his office. I groaned again when I saw his table. It was filled with papers stacked in four neat piles. I went over to the table and saw a note on one of the stacks Get these done by today. 

I sighed and picked them up, carrying them one by one to my office. I sat down and started working on the sheets. Before I knew it, it was lunch time. I grabbed my bag and dug in for my lunchbox but then remembered that I gave one of the boys the lunchbox as we rushed out and forgot to take it back from them.

Just as my stomach growled there was a knock on my door "Come in" I said as I resumed working, not looking up "Woah. How much work does that guy give you?" I heard a husky voice asked and looked up to see Nick standing there with a box in his hand. More specifically my lunchbox.

"LUNCH!" I said and rushed towards Nick, grabbing the lunchbox from him, I dug in "Sorry I'm just really hungry" I said as we sat down on the seats "No wonder you've been so exhausted everyday. This is too much" He said looking at the stacked papers.

"No. Actually this just came in today. My boss is out God knows where and left me all this work" I said returning my attention back on the papers "You know my offer still stands. You could be my PA. You know that I need one as well" Nick said and I nodded "I know Nick. But I can't just give him the pleasure of knowing that I couldn't handle all the work he gave me too" I saw him nod this time and I sighed "This can't be finished by today! There's no way it can be done!"

"Hey, hey" Nick said coming behind my chair. He started massaging my shoulders and I relaxed for a while "How about this. You finish this work and we'll go to a club tonight hmm? We'll invite Olivia too" "It still can't be done. And lets please. I need a night out. And shouldn't you be at work or something?" I asked and he cheekily grinned at me "If I were then you'd die of starvation" I laughed a little and nodded "True, true." He kissed me on my head and rubbed my shoulders.

"Now come on. I know you can finish this work before office hours close so do it. I believe you can do it" I opened my mouth to reply but another voice cut in.

"How sweet. The boyfriend comes to the rescue the damsel in distress" We both looked up to see Ash standing there in the doorway "He just came to give me my lunch! And he's not-" "Lunch!?" Ash said coldly "Yes lunch. You know its what you refused to let her have on her first day here" Nick retorted in the same cold voice and I felt a shiver run down my spine. Nick had only been this mad once and the result wasn't good.

Ash's eyes zoomed on Nick "No one is allowed up here without an appointment" "Well too bad. I'm here already" Nick replied and I looked at him worriedly "How dare you speak to me like that!? This is MY office! I could destroy you within a second if I want to!" Ash all but shouted and I knew that this wasn't going to end up well.

Nick scoffed "I don't care that this is your office. And the part about destroying me, I'd like to see you try" I tugged on his arm and when Nick looked at me I knew he was trying to suppress his anger for my sake.

"He's not worth it Nick. You go back to work. I'll handle this." I told him but when he started to protest I quickly kissed his cheek "Please." I said and he nodded. He gave me one last hug before leaving the office.

As soon as Nick left Ash glared at me "I don't want to see him in my office again is that understood!?" I glared right back at him "He just came here to give me my lunch!" I shouted and he narrowed his eyes at me, his voice going even colder.

"If I ever see him again I'll destroy your boyfriend for good." "He's not-" I started saying but he cut me off again "I don't want to hear it." He said and started leaving "Tell one thing." I said just as he turned the handle. He turned around and gave me a curt.

"What?" "How are you going to destroy him?" I asked and saw him smirk "I have my ways" I smiled innocently at him "Well best of luck then" I replied and he narrowed his eyes at me again "I don't need luck" He replied but I kept on smiling at him "But you do" "And why is that Ms. Berlitz?" He asked

"Because When you are a billionaire, Nick is a billionaire as well. From the reports you've given me this past week, I've gathered that the company you're trying to negotiate with for your next contract actually belongs to Nick."
